I’m religious, but I don’t judge others for believing differently or in nothing at all. I love this song despite my disagreement with the lyrics. In truth - I just hope the song helps people however it may. It got me through some rough times, metal in general has 😂.
That's awesome! My girlfriend is shit same way with this song. But shit.... Their music is good tho. Super heavy and I love when songs can help people through rough times. I have a few that really do it for me too and got me through some heavy stuff.

The fact that Chris like me has no hate for religion, but also sees it as a stumbling block is eye opening. The way this song pans out is we make our our own heroes and they are tragic and flawed and useless just like the rest of us. The message is all that matters not the messenger. There is an exquisite pain to be found in the lyrics there is a longing to belong but also a desire to be special to be chosen no one is chosen. You are human, your are flawed. Pain and suffering is inevitable. Find the people worth suffering for.

I'm old and when I saw Dee Snider whipping him I got the message. Back in the 80's, Dee and other rockers went to court to fight censorship in music, especially heavy metal. Tipper Gore was the leader of this crusade. They did succeed in putting that annoying warning sticker on most metal albums.

I started a crappy job lost my identity but re-discovered it in 2018 after myself, my mum and a good friend had health scares. I am who i am, im done trying to fit in when i was made to be myself. You looked so traumatized when he was crucified. As you said, the song is against these so-called believers who thinks they have a right to judge people who live by different standards than they do. I stand by that. I myself am actually a Muslim. I just happen to like metal somehow. Do I think metal is satanic? No but there are a number of satanic bands out there just as there are a few satanic popstars or rappers or whatever. I don't judge them for that. I just avoid them and stick to what I like which is mostly metalcore.

@@GodsKingdomFirst It's been so hard for me especially when it comes to deathcore. I really like deathcore, but every two songs is insults God somehow. Black metal is simply out of bounds for me. Most bands I listen to are atheist but almost never blasphemous, like MIW. I just avoid songs like Divine Infection, Everybody Sells, Final Dictvm, etc.
