Older brother is Eric. They use the underage drinking and other shenanigans based from the real Eric but changed it to a female. I guess to make it a well rounded tv family with sister.

The Goldbergs became my favourite show on tv so quickly! I found myself always saying “JTP” after Barry says it 😂
A show that makes a big mistake with Star Wars movies. Adam did say the name of the third Star Wars movie in either the first or second season as Return of the Jedi but he has a Revenge of the Jedi poster and shirt in the third season. Yes that is the original title of the movie but George Lucas changed it because Jedi don’t take revenge and used Revenge in the third prequel, Revenge of the Sith because that is where it belongs.
Only time this show bugged me was there was a mention of David Kim and Adam saying he never hung out with him again and then the show proceeds to have him in the show many more times.

I think making Eric a girl was a good choice because they were representing growing up in the 80s and I dont want to gender stereotype but I think adding a teenage girl allows them to represent most aspects of growing up in the 80s in America that if it was only teenage boys

They almost did that with the Cosby show Rudy was suppose to be a boy played by Jaleel White.

How about a part 2 focusing on the non-family characters, like the members of the JTP, Adam's friends, the characters' love interests, etc?
So pretty much Schooled lol. Honestly season 2 of Schooled was better than the most recent season of Goldbergs imo

The real Emmy appears as the character Emmy's mom. Is the only one I can think of.
As a child of the 80's, I watch this show because I like the nostalgic references. What's funny to me is when I see mistakes in the show. Every episode say's it was "1980-something". The show generalizes without mentioning a specific year. So if the characters are living in the 80's, you would not expect to see things from the 90's. Sometimes I see toys from the 90's in the background. One was an Ultimate Warrior wrestling buddy with the World Championship around his waist, which he didn't win until 1990. That doll could not have been available until he won the belt. I also remember an episode where Adam said he was going to his friends house to play Super Mario 3. This game wasn't released until 1990. I also remember a scene where Adam was standing in line to see ET in the theater. He mentioned ALF during the scene. This is also wrong because ET was released in theaters in 1982, and ALF didn't begin until 1986.
For me it's entertaining to find mistake's in sit-coms and movies.

RIP Doc Goldberg! He took care of me and my entire family for so many years. The greatest doc in the world. I definitely miss him.
I'm a 80's kid at heart I'll be 48 in July and love the show, Beverly reminds me of my no late Mom vassa. She unfortunately died on October 16, 1988 at 38 years old from a brain aneurysm in her sleep and I was 16 when I found her.

I'm sorry to hear about your mother; that's such a young age. I lost mine much later in life and it's so hard. We are the same age and I'm in the Midwestern US but I have been to Hamilton and Toronto. In fact, I've seen the Tiger Cats play against the Argos at Rogers Centre a few years ago. I love the Goldbergs as it brings up things that I hadn't thought of in years. I like the 80s background music that is usually near the end of the episode.
@@sfs1167 thanks for that Thomas and I'm a stroke and cardiac arrest survivor myself now at almost 48 years old. I was born in Toronto with a whole in my heart and had open heart surgery when I was 4 years old at sick kids hospital. Got a blood clot in April of '06 which caused a stroke on my left side of my body and then on September first of '08 my heart stopped that morning I didn't wake up, both my cat Nemo and my now ex wife Angy saved my life. I'm better now still use a cane for balance when I'm outside walking around here in Hamilton. Nemo was inducted into the Purina pet Hall of Fame in Toronto in '09 but died about 5 years ago Angy decided to leave our marriage at the end of '09.

My question is...Is Kimberly and Lainey, the same person? Barry's actual wife, Kimberly. Didn't want anything to do with the show. Then it became what it is. I've had this theory that they created Lainey in Kimberly's likeness. Then she was ok with it. Then "Kim" appeared.

Boy, would I love to hear my favorite character Pops get interviewed! 😍 The man's a legend, my personal favorite among all grandpas on American tv (funnily enough, cause we're talking about a real-life character)! 👏🏻 Obviously, he would be like 120 know, so we'd have to time travel for an interview! By the way, whenever real footage of his pops came up, I always had a feeling the man ended up having (something like) Alzheimer's in reality. If you look closely, he seems a tad out of touch with his environment in some of the later home footage. Maybe only I see that since we've had cases in our family! Anyhow, what a unique grandpa - grandchild dynamic! 🙏🏻

I just discovered The Goldbergs during lockdown and I’m obsessed. So funny and hysterical but the dude clearly has a major soft spot in his heart for his crazy family. I absolutely love it!

Love the show !!The music, movies and sports players are all accurate. Just one big, recurring problem on most every episode...when the show starts it says its , for instance, it December 10th 1980 something . I know it's based in Pennsylvania but when it says December, then they show outside and its sunny and trees are green. People are wearing shorts and summer ware. Wheres the SNOW !!!

I noticed that the show, (whilst entertaining and fun to watch) slowly moved away from the reality of Adam’s childhood. It moved from recreating memories and showing the camera footage at the end to a wild, kooky family recreating classic 80s movies. That’s why I love the beginning of the show more than I love the end of the show. You can almost pinpoint the moment in the series when Adam Goldberg ran out of footage and ideas and it’s honestly really sad! A lot of shows do this however, going from relatable and raw to outrageous and extreme. (Note the change from The Office US season one to season nine) When shows get a bigger audience and better production quality, the characters become extreme, the plots become ~more exciting~ and the atmosphere is changed, mostly for the worst.
I love this show it cracks me up! The first few seasons were the best though!
Even the tickets they get on the show at The Spectrum in Philadelphia are accurate.
