  • Trying to catch up. I logged 14 hours of practice last week, which is great! We will be breaking 300 hours soon, but had I not taken the time off to recover I would be closer to 400 by now. So, I have quite a bit of work ahead of me just to catch up.

You are doing great! for me alot of the fun comes in the struggle. Once you get past a particular struggle is the best feeling ever! you are sounding great. keep up the awesome work.

Absolutely true. I am finding the parts of a song that I struggle with the most end up being the parts I enjoy playing the most.

You’re a lot better than I am-I picked up the banjo about 2 1/2 months ago-but I get it, get rolling along and then it seems like I lose the rhythm and it all falls apart. But watching you is really good and I appreciate your efforts. you sound good. The advice on being able to play back up I think is really good because unless you’re playing solo, you certainly can’t play lead all the time, and maybe only a little bit, depending on how many other instruments are with you. Being comfortable with back up would also make me a lot more comfortable playing around other people. Right now my dog is my audience and I’m not so sure he appreciates it very much.LOL I’m having a lot of fun getting there. Thanks again.

Thanks!. One of my dogs can't stand my playing, while the other one sits and watches...probably wondering what the hell it is that I am doing.

You are sounding very much in time with the tunes you have been practicing. Even picking up that pace a bit sounded good :) I am very happy for you that you are not having the finger issue. I see you are holding the neck much more relaxed and that is making you sound more relaxed. It was nice to see you having so much fun and excited to press on!

Thanks, Steven. Being able to practice without pain has been a big motivation booster. That was a long 3.5 month break from playing. For those that think practicing is hard, try not practicing...it's even harder.
