  • Taking off from a complete stop up to 70mph. It was taken on the New Jersey Garden State Parkway at mile marker 20.1. The speed limit is 65 so I didnt break any laws. :)

    Nice looking Bus! We still have many of our Thomas Freightliner FS-65's in service working as spares. Our Thomas FS-65's are 2005, 2006, and 2007 models though.

    I would have to say the DT slowed down quite a bit when it was loaded down. Cat makes work horse engines so it didn't affect it to much.

    @SheppardDriver85 My second favorite engine. My first is the T444E turbo.

    @knightrider1545 It is a natural Govenor. It came from Trenton Public School, it was a city bus. Thats why it only has 81,000 miles on it, but the hours are higher.

    @knightrider1545 Před 11 lety +2

    Oh now I get it Allison 2000 5 speed auto.

    Sounds just like our Bus 989 (which I’ve rode as a sub for 894, an 04 CE with a T444E, and 989 is an 03 Thomas FS-65 with a CAT 3126).

    • @MistyTheBorderCollie
      @MistyTheBorderCollie Před 2 lety

      989 had the engine fan on a lot though, especially when it accelerates.

    @9sb19 I must say I like the FS-65 over the CE. This bus is a 2002 but the hp is 246. :)

    Seems like the DT466 has more low end power, but 3126 has more top end, I could be wrong tho, which one slows down the most when loaded?

    hell, our school busses are governed to 55MPH. goin down a big hill and drop er into neutral, pushes 60. but the drivers get in troubel

  • @knightrider1545
    @knightrider1545 Před 13 lety

    yay it drove past 70 again, is it a school govenor installed or just the regular natural govenor such as not governed by school but by the bus itself?

    How much diesel dose it use at 2500 RPM?

    • @SheppardDriver85
      @SheppardDriver85  Před 5 lety +1

      kjilk simble it all depends on the liter size and if it’s hauling a load. A full tank on that bus fully loaded would have lasted 8hrs or more.

      With it having the 3126 CAT that bus never lost power. Even with a full load it would maintain speed. Nothing runs like a cat. :)

    how hot can the Transmission get on a bus befour it time to stop do to I use to see it over 200 on my school bus and I would think it would be burning up

    • @SheppardDriver85
      @SheppardDriver85  Před 7 lety

    • @cheffington999
      @cheffington999 Před 10 lety

    • @FBHSswimmer2006

    • @cspennington12
      @cspennington12 Před 10 lety +1

      King Whombat videos can have deceiving engine sounds sometimes. It sounds like a CAT engine to me. :) - I couldn't tell ya the difference from a I-6 to a V6. LOL

    • @cspennington12
      @cspennington12 Před 9 lety

      Yeah you can tell it that way. Engines are easy to tell by how they sound. Usually, all depends on how the engine is set.
