I have owned two of these trucks. They started so quick, as soon as you pushed the start button. Very nice the way it is all clean. I just used mine for parades.
Very nicely cleaned up and rebuilt. The old Hercules LDT465 and LDS465 for me are right with the 6-71 Detroit for WONDERFUL sounding straight 6 diesels.
Yes, the LDS 465 multifuel engine was the standard powerplant for earlier 5ton trucks, whereas the 2.5t trucks received the LDT 465 (or variants without turbo). The LDS is more powerful, around 200 hp, and can easily be adapted to fit a 2.5t truck.
To be exact, the M51A2's-M543A2's were the only five ton trucks to ever use the multi fuel/hyper cycle engines. Most of them had the LDS-465's (175 HP/447 TQ) but they still came with LDT-465's (135 HP/330 TQ) as well. The M35A2's-M756A2's used both the LDT-465's and LDS-465's.Certain variants were naturally aspirated and then there actually was four different turbochargers that other deuce and a halfs used. The A1's before the A2's had the LDT-427's and there also was Caterpillar D333C's that only powered some of the M520's-M877's.
@toddpillars, it is pretty straightforward. Remove the injection line and return lines, the injector hold down and then wiggle and pull the injector out. If the injector is carboned up, it can be harder and may need gentle tapping or even a slide hammer to pull.
I have 70 m54a2 5ton multifuel. And cant go over 54 mph without it being at 2600 i noticed yours goes much faster do you have stock gears or upgraded? I'd like to do 65max and 55 comfortable without going death lol
@@cattlerepairmancattlerepai9414 okay thank you! I been debating on doing the 53s mostly for looks i don't beat on the truck just joy ride it around occasionally take it to the dunes but not often!
Yes, he is retiring. I was lucky enough to get it when waterloospecialities was still in business. It gives 5th gear a 0.65 overdrive. Max speed with the LDS is faster than I want to go with an M35A2. 100 km/h plus. I use it to do 90 at 2200.

that's one clean install! congrats!
love the hood shocks
That LDS must scoot pretty good when compared to the old LDT.
Very neat rebuild job. :)
I actually driven one of those down the autobaun 😂
It's also been used in a 5 ton as well.

That’s good oll AMERICAN made!
Where did you get these nice bumper poles? Would also install some on my truck!
Snow plow poles. They are orange, plastic and I painted them and bent the base to mount. About $20.
Nice! Thanks!
How much different is it driving compared to the LDT?
More oomph for sure, and feels like it is the right engine for the Deuce. Better sound than the LDT as well....more growl. Definitely an improvement.
There are no videos on how to pull the injectors 0n M35a2?

At this point, your only improvement is taller tires. Go to www.steelsoldiers.com and read up!

Hi, what is the loud buzzing noise when you start the truck? I just got a truck like yours and it’s making the same noise, I was freaking out
Low air pressure buzzer. Dude, you need to get the manuals for this truck and get up to speed. Go to steelsoldiers.com
What is the waterloo specialities overdrive update? I read, that it's sold out and not continued.... Is it changing the ratio?

Where did you get the headlight guards?
Look on the net for "these military guys" truck parts.
Ether assist but no heater you not making sense.
You are right! I have the heater but it is out to be modified.
