No, if you watch their videos, the other base stink 99% of the time and usually swallow the colors hint. The worst one is white, everyone in the comments always wants to see white, but it always looks the same regardless of the colors hint used....it just looks plain white
Black base is best. Always makes the dip or pearl POP with color. White is the worst because, if you don't go super heavy on the load, it just looks like your car is covered in dirt and dust.

From the sound of it, the shift takes on some of the characteristics of the base coat. I'd be interested in seeing Anthias with other bases.
