    I don't think I'd lean against that rusty ass railing.

      Yeah it was scetchy. I shook on it real hard when we first got there it was actually still pretty solid.

    Well boys judging from the hoist there I would say that had to be an old escape way, dont know the mine, but I would say it has been down a long time. Whats crazyer is riding up that shaft in a 3 foot wide capsule

  • @kfourom
    @kfourom Před 8 měsíci +2

    If you could fill it with water (divert a creek) it would certainly help the local water table.

  • @phils2180
    @phils2180 Před měsícem

    Wow, I'm amazed that shaft isn't capped off more securely than it is. Those iron railings look pretty feeble, I can just imagine some fool doing a selfie stood on the wrong side of the rails and, well you know the rest! Wouldn't a drone be an easier option than the cable camera? I wouldn't have thought there'd be any air turbulence if the bottom is full of water?

    • @QuitNTimeAdventures
      @QuitNTimeAdventures  Před měsícem

      @@phils2180 I flew drone down alittle. Think it would get unstable with loss of satellite connection.

    That is so cool… the mine shaft itself…. Seen it in person… verifying the can am crew… and scary at the same time…. Wish they would cover that thing before someone falls in and ends the trail riding down there…IMO…

    Where exactly is this located? I’ve been trying to find it and I can’t seem to figure out where it is. And also, I’m looking for the big ventilation fans. You guys went in as well.

    • @QuitNTimeAdventures
      @QuitNTimeAdventures  Před 7 měsíci +1

      If you have a BOB t maps find coal lake and the pineville horses. It’s up in that area. I have a video on the fans posted as well and they are about 5 mins from this shaft.

    I bet even a thin cable, 700 feet long gets heavy. did you use a drum or winch of some kind?

    • @QuitNTimeAdventures
      @QuitNTimeAdventures  Před 7 měsíci +1

      We tried to but it would wrap the end of the cable up and wouldn’t have been able to have a feed on the way down. It got to be pretty heavy but wasn’t too bad.

    some twine and a gopro might of been easyer

    • @QuitNTimeAdventures
      @QuitNTimeAdventures  Před 7 měsíci +1

      gopro doesn't do well in low light. thought about rigging lights with it, but then realized had camera and cable real long enough, and would also probably lower more stable than with twine or string. thanks for watching!

      If it’s around Pineville, WV, I’d say the shaft leads to an old mined out section of US Steel’s mine (now Cleveland Cliffs) that is in the Pocahontas 4 seam. It is a HUGE long wall mine!!!!

    Camera needs stabilization. The camera spinning around can cause disorientation and nausea. Unpleasant experience.
