For those who don’t know, the text at 15:44 roughly translates to:
“But it wasn’t her fault.
We weren’t alone on that boat.
I don’t blame her.”
The thing mark dragged at the bottom of the water’s floor was the body of a kid. If you lift it straight up instead of dragging it you get a news report of a 10 year old boy who went missing after falling off a boat. His sister (who was also in the boat) returned home, but the boy did not. (Edit: wanted to also add a cool fact. If you walk against a certain spot of the trees you can walk through it and find the girl crying on the boat saying “I didn’t mean to. What will mom and dad say?”)
If you want more information about this games story then watch game theory’s video on it. The creator (who replied to someone on his comment) confirmed that matpat got it mostly right.

Yeah man but let me tell you this whole metaphor for sad things does no one any good because then it's purely metaphorical and the horror has not actual physical component, so it's limited especially because morality don't exist and because demons that operate under those conditions don't exist either. In that respect Lovecraft had it right.

Physical components not real. Heard the theory? It's all mental. Game has no horror that is physcially real wven in the game's world itself. Of limited value and imagination and dyanmism and intrigue. not as good as wehn there is a component. Game is a game which is not real true but even if the game were real it would take place only in a mindscape except for the normal people parts so like wtf is the boint?\
Good characters, voice acting, fun aesthetic, like the 8-bit aesthetics. Some of my faves tbh.
But other issue. "Demons" "ghosts" cannot be real, can never be real. Like wanting to make big grasshopper, collapses, doesn't make sense, Nonsense. Incoherent ith universe. Morality isn't real, for demons o exist morality would have to be real. In Lovecraft enetities don't care about good and evil, they just are like everything just is, and that is realistic, that could actually exist, but demons and ghosts are born out of wrong notions about what realiy is. Can never be a supernatural entity that seeks to harm humans because that implies that good and evil exist and that they want to to do things. Mostly nonsense tbh.

Ok. I'm starting to notice that every time the trend of people playing new horror games Mark is always late to the party....
That's probably because most Streamers and CZcamsrs need that revenue from playing the game early. Plus that's pretty much what the majority of them do...play games and get views(hopefully). They still have to edit and everything but for the most part, gaming is what they focus on.
Then there's Mark. 3 Podcasts, Choose Your Own Adventures, Cloak, charity events, filming in Canada, etc. in addition to his CZcams videos.
Mark has been working on Space for a while, so he is coming back to "Catch Up" as it were. Kinda like when he went to Canada and did a lot of Simulator games but once he got back he covered some of the other games that he had missed.
Mark was talking about how he was away when Security Breach dropped and said something like "I wanted to play it, sure, but I wasn't going to drop everything for it. The people that wanna see me play it will wait or they'll watch another playthrough and then they will watch mine when I put it out." He's right. Mark doesn't really have to follow the waves like others do, because of his position. Which is a good thing because we get great content from his passion projects, as well as our normal uploads.
TLDR: Mark is being Mark and all is well.
Personally I think he lets less popular media artists upload first because markiplier knows him getting high views and likes is generally guaranteed whereas other CZcamsrs have to grind to get content out first to be seen. A lot of other media artists don’t have their own editors either so it takes them double the time bc most have irl jobs and families to care for. Also have to think that most games probably are already recorded but it takes days of editing for hours of video. And with as much as I’m sure he’s pushing out lixian has a lot on his hands.

I love the absolute disappointment and sadness in the delivery of the phrase “…you took the key to my house…?”

From what I remember, Thomas Eastwood possesses Andy and his friend Arthur possesses Claus, and Peter Pumpkin is a demon. After an accident in which Thomas's daughter knocked her brother into the lake because of the demon, their lives all spiralled out of control. Thomas blamed his daughter and suspected Arthur of trying to take his family for himself, so riddled with grief and anger burned their house down one Christmas day with everyone still in it. Absolutely off his rocker now, he blames it on Arthur and murders him with an axe. Realizing what he's done, he creates Andy's Apple Farm and makes a deal with the demon to have them live on in the game as it's characters, but the demon turns on him and makes him become Andy. This is why he wants you to "Save Us."
Interestingly, the developers released another game called Rabbit Knight which secretly tells the aftermath of Thomas's actions where his daughter, the one who accidentally killed her brother, survived the fire. However the demon tracked her down and trapped her in the second chapter.
Suffice it to say the story is really interesting and the way these secrets are all hidden is really creative, requiring you to play the game in different combinations and sometimes even playing wrong in order to unlock them. I'm very excited for Chapter 2!
The fire was caused by the Christmas tree.

This is honestly a really neat game. There’s a lot of secrets in this one where you need to do some stuff in the minigames to find more of the story.
Problem is morality doesn't exist so that reduces the kind of punch these games should have. Nevertheless.
By playing the game just once, you do miss a lot of things. There are multiple different routes in the game (depending on the order of characters you go to), and you get a lot of different pieces of the puzzle each time.
The route Mark did in this video was:
Margaret, Melody, Claus, Felix.
Also, for if he plays this again, say no to Felix when he offers the first time. There’s some extra dialogue. (I think his minigame has the most secrets in general.)
Also, if decide to brightness up from fake blue screen and pre title menu, some pics show up.

Mark doesn't really care to much about lore it seems so he plays purely for fun. Matpat needs the lore to make theories so he tries to hard, but that's exactly why I love watching both of their playthroughs of games because they are so different

Can you give me a rundown of all the secrets Mark found within the video?
I wasn’t raised in a way conductive to social stimulation, so I may be wrong, but Andy sounds eternally disturbed throughout the entire game. He sounds like he knows something is wrong but can’t act out else he ruin the player’s experience. I also heard it in Claus’s voice too right after the I Spy segment, but mostly Andy. The shakiness and unevenness of his voice helps build the atmosphere for me, and I think too few people are talking about it.
This whole thing gives off uncanny “BunnyFarm” vibes

Maybe the eat him in part 2. Ilion mobile fruits, look that up for the hghest manifestation of fruits in a realistically envionrment. Desire for narratives is real and lives should resemble them. This comes before morality. This is why we like it when fruits move around and move. Because we respond to motion.
