'Black Off' - an ORGANIC pesticide, fungicide and fertilizer Innovation

  • Meet "Black Off", the all in one pesticide - fertilizer. This Nitrogen, Phosphorous & Potassium rich botanical mixture of extracts from different plant species is fostering the organic farmers' ability to improve yields.
    This is the innovation brain-child of Nassali Salimmah and Ssewanyana Andrew of Mityana Mubende District Farmers' Association (MMUDFA).
    This documentary highlights what Black Off is, its components, how it is made and its application process in the field. Research into the effectiveness of Black Off on the Black Coffee Twig Borer (BCTB)and the Fall Armyworm has been carried out by the National Coffee Research Institute (NaCoRi) in Kituzi - Mukono district and the Directorate of Crop Research at Chinhoyi University of Technology in Zimbabwe respectively.
    A number of Farmers have shared their testimonies on the effectiveness of 'Black Off' as a pesticide, fungicide and fertilizer on various crops such as Coffee, Bananas and egg plants among others. It's vast applications as an organic product appear to increase with the spread of its use.

    This is a take on the old way of making compost tea (including manures) in old Hogs Head barrels, to that was added lime ( could use wood ash) to neutralize odors. Read the book Ten Acres Enough and you learn of how it’s judicious use made a six acre homestead produce far more than much larger homesteads. He became the talk of the town and was settled on not taking on more land because his produced so effectively.
