I wish the camera person could do wide shots of the room, so I could see it properly. Love this home.
I used to watch a lot of Open House TV (an american show listing expensive houses) but I realised what I really craved for are soothing music, commentary about warm colours and accompanying visusals.

I think I’m finding I enjoy English interiors so much more than the hideous boho scandi modern farmhouse whatever that's all over American design. Classic British design has such heritage, creativity, character, intelligence, and exuberance!

Fabulous bedroom and bathroom, the mirror doors and the hide dyed such an inviting, happy colour. A house with such a sense of humour. like the map/floor, both stylish and secretly personal.

Masterful! I'm amazed how she's managed to mix so many metals and finishes and colours and yet still make it all look so cohesive. A light grey rug, a yellow hide armchair, brown velvet bed frame, silver fireplace with chocolate wood, brass curtain rods, black reading lights, vegetable dyed linen curtains?? Sounds like it wouldn't work but it's so perfect in the space. I love how British designers often throw out the rule book and just make something beautiful and homely and cool. Very inspiring!

Oh I agree, it's so creamy and elegant. Sadly it's not a natural, regional accent one can just pick up in life: a public school accent costs a lot of money.

@@piplebref4607 Ha, brutal but accurate. Can you imagine a working class kid showing his mum and dad the course brochures for studying interior design and interior decoration? It's a jaw-droppingly expensive area of study, so good luck to little Jayden or Kayleigh on the estate. Also, it's not just the cost of studying, it's the angst of never having formed the 'right' social contacts as this will, if not entirely prohibit, certainly greatly limit them in pursuing a career in design, styling and decoration. Photography used to be included in the above professions too: rich kids only. What it's like now, post-analogue, I have no idea and couldn't say. To work with an established designer even assisting or interning would be a very rare opportunity for the working class kid not remotely connected to 'good society'; who would introduce them? They, their friends and family are in another galaxy, socially and otherwise. What a crying shame. A very rare breed lucks out and pushes through and all of us love those success stories of talent, perseverance and grit meeting with serendipitous good fortune. It's why Alexander McQueen was so glorious, talent aside.

Really like the bedroom, it's cool with nice view. The big green sofa is warm & comfortable & they hv 2 beautiful cats in the house, very kind ppl.
Rachel reminds me of the movie character, Bridget Jones. She has warm & bubbly personality, so adorable. Her cream silk blouse is simple but classy. The house is nice & comfortable for a young family.

That blouse is one of those perfect wardrobe staples you could wear with literally anything. It's gorgeous. I wonder if it's a vintage piece or just looks it, perhaps coming from a smaller design house?

I would have liked to have seen a larger view of the dining area floor that was also a map. That may be unique, I haven’t seen anyone else do it. From what was shown to us it looked like it could be really beautiful, and seeing only a small slice also defeats the intent of it being a map.
My favorite home above all the rest I've seen... Beautiful work. Please feature more of her stunning art and undeniable talent.

Thoroughly enjoyed this and other H&G features. Hearing the designers' reasoning behind their choices and seeing the results is such a treat. If I may be allowed one suggestion - the Flash Ads at the very end of the video obscure what might be yet another interesting aspect of the designers' efforts. Interesting and elegant home, yet quiet and usable! Loved the bedroom! And the mirrors in the master bathroom! However I would like to see these houses at nighttime, just to see what they are like with lights on, and it's dark outside..yes?
At 2:09 it made me wonder whether they have done anything to the cat to fit into the interior design.
"The fur of the cat has been bleached. It was black before. Then hand-dyed with vegetable dye by pet coiffeur Lucy Whatsername. The fur now beautifully echoes the colour of the drapes." :-D

The dining room is not warm. I’d say chilly
For me, the bedroom was a letdown. I think people forget the bedroom is one of the most multi-functional rooms in the house. People make love, eat, play with the kids, and have intimate conversations with friends, family, and significant others in the bedroom.
Most of us spend long hours in bedrooms with books, pets, the TV, our phones, our partners, and ourselves. We may even be there for days or weeks if we’re ill or going through emotional ups and downs. Some of us prefer to work in bed rather than at a desk. Our bedrooms should envelope us in character, warmth, and personality. A bedroom can do all of that and still exude tranquility.

It’s very difficult to see what any of the rooms look like. It’s just a sequence of close-ups of detail. Almost never a good shot of the whole room. Frustrating.
