the shameful exodus of MP's from the chamber is a sad reflection on their general gutlessness and indifference to the poor. This subject is one of the most fundamental of all in politics- housing the people was seen in the past as a "consencsus" matter, with ,say Mr MacMillan when Housing minister exceeding his targets.Tories today, and most "New Labour" politicians despise the powerless [the "non-stakeholders", perhaps, or, in US terms "the deplorables"] We must hope Mr Galloway gets allies in his various battles for peace and justice

How much money does the Royal Family get from the taxpayer?
For 2022-2023, the Sovereign Grant was worth £86.3m, the same as in 2021-2022.
But repairs to Buckingham Palace - which is undergoing a 10-year £369m refurbishment plan - and the costs associated with King Charles succeeding Queen Elizabeth, plus higher-than-expected inflation, took total spending for the period to £107.5m, according to the Royal Household's annual financial report.
That represents a 5% increase on the £102.4m spent the previous year.

The private rented sector is at least as bad. If you complain about damp to a private landlord, they either bump the rent up as punishment or they try to evict you and steal your deposit. All of the rules favour landlords. They use all of the wealth they stole to buy politicians.
Every privately rented home is on the front line of a relentless class war that the poor are losing. This is probably a major reason why the UK's working class population seems so shattered and broken. It's very hard to organise when you and your family don't even have a safe home to live in.
