Earlier string/brass/woodwind arrangements that needed written parts were done by their bass player Rutger Gunnarsson (seen on stage here). "If it wasn't for the nights" was a song in disco style, in the 'disco era' from Bee Gees and the movie 'Saturday Night Fever'
This video included (after their perfomance) a lot of pictures of ABBA
    In one of this
the girls using 'cat customers' yellow and blue

This was in Japan. They did quite a few cool performances there with 'interesting' stage sets plus the picture quality was/is excellent for the time. Bro, all of us know you've got a crush on Agnetha. But,,,this video, is Frida's absolute diva moment. This song is extremely underrated. Musically, it's perfect: vocals, strings, and of course, the BASS!! It should be, nowadays, considered an iconic disco era track , linning up with tracks such as I will survive and Bee Gees's ones. Greetings from Brazil.

hello again good start to the week for You, and thanks for take this of my suggestion, with the link of the complete recording
"If it wasn't for the nights"
is a cute disco-style ABBA song that combines the contrast of dense lyrics with a catchy melody and impeccable singing by the duo Agnetha & Frida
"If it wasn't for the nights"
    also has a story
ABBA had been invited to participate in the UNICEF Benefit Concert and was going to go with this song, which was to be the new single
(at these time Björn & Agnetha was in the middle of your separation)
But weeks before ABBA composed a new song, a Masterpiece, that changed it's history: "Chiquitita"
, "Chiquitita" was chosen by ABBA to perform in that World Concert, they premiered there and it was their new single, and its worldwide success was colossal (especially in Latin America)
and "If it wasn't for the nights" finally wasn't a single, also was in the "Voulez Vous" album
I like how You enjoy with these one specialy When give You the sugestiones I think that it is the kind of music that You like the most
    May your day continue well
    Kind regards from
    Buenos Aires Argentina

I just love this song, one of their absolute best. This performance is from a tv special done in Japan. It was released on DVD some years ago. You've probably heard of disco demolition night that happened late in 1979. Because a rock radio dj was so upset many channels turned from rock to disco. But disco/dance music didn't die, it just evolved into many sub genres and there's a new appreciation of disco today. So that rock dj failed big time. He just ruined many artists careers instead.

one of my favorites by them, off my favorite album from them. This song was written by Bjorn in the midst of his divorce from Agnetha (written at the same time he was writing The Winner Takes It All). This song, however, is a bit more upbeat than Winner :P EDIT: Disco NEVER died, it went underground for a few years & emerged back as House music, which is still going strong to this day :)

@@escorpioomega2111 If i am wrong, it's because Bjorn...you know, the WRITER of the song, is wrong. Google is free, use it. He wrote this song during their separation, about being lonely in his apartment at night. Seriously, do some fuckin research before pointing a finger at someone else. Wiki is a helpful tool towards not looking like a moron. Also, not sure you know HOW music recording works, but a LOT of times, songs are put on certain albums later for one reason or another. Just because "Winner" was released later doesn't mean they didnt go through marital issues previous to that. IN FACT, most divorces happen after extended times of problems. Christ, seriously, just do a bit of fucking research.

What I loved about ABBA was that they weren't natural dancers. There was no manufactured choreography but they just bopped like anyone else would bop to music, which is another reason why they have so much universal appeal. I hate choreographed staging because it doesn't seen natural. With ABBA you could relate to them because they were singing to us and yet somehow were giving the impression they were including us in their performance. Frida just loves the experience, but Agnetha looks more uncomfortable.

To understand ABBA, you're gonna have to chase a lot of rabbits down a lot of rabbit holes. ABBA's last album was ( The Visitors ) back in november 1981. They were pop/disco. As for their outfits/costumes, a lot of them looked goofy/fancy, that was their way/loophole to keep their money. Sweden was taking about 40% of their money in taxes. They had "costume designers" design/make costumes for them at very expensive rates (tax write off). (hey, make me me a $20 outfit but "charge" me a couple thousand... Their last 2 albums were very emotional. both couples were divorced/getting divorced. (these are 3 of their most emotional songs. S.O.S., Knowing me knowing you, The winner takes it all ). if you recently gone through NASTY divorce and are not over it, don't listen to those songs, they will bring up every emotion, dangerously....... I would love to learn the real reason they broke up as a group some say cheating, the girls got tired of the lime light and wanted to be mothers, Agnetha "went crazy" (check out their emergency plane landing in OKC (oklahoma city).. About 12 years ago they were offered a BILLION dollars to do a concert, they flat out said "nope"....... Frida did a solo album in 1984, her popular song "I know there's something going on" it supposed to be about Benny cheating on her. Agnetha did a few solo albums, lots of nice songs but not as big as ABBA. As of 2018 ABBA sold about 385 Million records. Benny and Bjorn are still writting and composing songs. FUN FACT.. ABBA gave their song "Chiquitita" to UNICEF. song rights, royalties, everything. any penny that song makes goes to unicef. side note. if you know anyone battling depression, tell them to listen to that song........ I can go on for days about ABBA.

Dude, I think you're channeling Wolfman Jack just a little - if you don't know him (before your time) look him up. No offense, but he got in to music like you and would do a little howl now and then! Again, I love watching your reaction and hearing your thoughts on ABBA. Blessings!

This one is strange because although they might be lip syncing (maybe), they have their regular musicians at the back.

You don't have many left to get through, People Need Love is one you should do to see how they started. It is a folk song, and before Benny and Bjorn realized that Frida and Agnetha should be the lead singers. The song is catchy, but far removed from what ABBA would become.

I agree, "People need love" is a great song and historic moment to ABBA history

This show set is totally bubble gum ,horrible light ,like in a clinic, and the girls moves are overdone, the camera is horrible, not a close up to Benny or Björn and the Outfit is old and fits not to this new material, bad bad Show ,but the songs are good as hell as ever 👌
