May I just say thank you so much for your tutorials. They are so clear, evenly paced, and well-filmed. I am a new-ish and struggling crocheter; I often have a hard time reading/understanding written patterns, and video tutorials are not always clear on where you insert your hook. You give such clear visuals with exacting, accurate, descriptive instructions. Thank you so very much!
I just came across this lady and watch one video and I believe Iâm gonna be hooked đ â€đ§¶đ§¶đ§¶đ§¶
I have 6 skeins of Truboo because my local Dollarama mislabeled them and I got 6 for the price of one. Now I know what to do with them! đ
Toni, you are a gifted instructor encouraging, clear, and don't take yourself too seriously:-). Love your patterns and appreciate the tutorials so much. Because of the tutorials, I push myself to try new techniques and I know with you at my side I can be successful!
I got so excited over some treble crochets and chainsđđ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł this was while having a glass of wine but it brought me so much joy! Thanks Toniâ€
Believe me, when the wine kicks in, I get really excited about my stitching too đđ€
This is absolutely beautiful, I have been a knitter for many years and I needed something to ignite my fiber mojo and you Toni is it. I have 3 of your designs on my lists this beginning one of them I am so excited to start this, right now I'm working on your Avon blanket. Thank you for your tutorials and hard work you put in your presentations
Just finished my shawl. Love how you show each step. Learning to read patterns with your video. I recommend your videos to other people trying to learn crochet and Tunisian crochet. Wish you could do a color changing c2c project. Love you.
Yay! I've been waiting for this pattern!!!
Thank you so much. I will come back to this after I get home from my appointments later.
Truboo is one of my favorite yarns to crochet with, believe it or not. I really like how easily it glides over the Clover hooks. Thank you so much for this fun pattern!
Hey girl! This shawl is gorgeous! I am definitely going to be back to make this at some point. I currently have 3 wips, and I want to finish those before I start anything new. But I wanted to say that I discovered your channel while looking for a tutorial for a new project. Because of your Tunisian crochet tutorials I'm currently working on 2 blankets. One for my oldest niece and one for my fiance. But I thank you for making your tutorials so simple and easy to follow. Thank you thank you!
I am so excited to do this shawl! I tried several times with just the pattern but that was not a good situation any of the times I tried. So glad to have the video to work with. CA has been so much fun and SO FULL of good information. Thank you Toni!
So glad to finally get those videos up and I'm happy they're helpful :-) Thanks for checking out Crochet Academy.
I so enjoy your videos. Iâve just ordered your book some Tunisian hooks n some yarn n I will make this.
I'm new at crocheting. Your tutorials are perfect! Thank you so much! Glad I found you!
Your lightweight Summer Triangle shawl is the first piece of clothing Iâve made. Iâm so proud! I followed both your tutorial as well as the written instructions and didnât give up even when I didnât understand. Youâve made it possible for me to move forward with more of your designs. You have a beautiful gift that you share. Many thanksâ€
Yes! Iâve been waiting on this tutorial. Thank you for an amazing Crochet Academy 2023. I purchased the Lion Brand kit for this pattern and now Iâm all set.
Thank you, Toni, for another beautiful pattern â€ïž I am looking forward to making this when my yarn comes in. Lots of love and yarny hugs đ
Thank you so much for this tutorial! As a beginner, this is super helpful. I started today and got through the setup rows 1 - 7 so far. So excited to make this shawl and can't wait to also make the crochet bag. Thanks again Toni!
Very nice. I love when you make the mini versions of the project; they are functional and cute. Thank you for sharing this lovely pattern, Toni. â€
I just have to say how much I LOVE this pattern. Had my doubts about it at first but now I LOVE it. I 5 more rows + the border on my 2nd one and can't wait to get some more Truboo to do my 3rd. I see many more of these in my future.
This is the one Iâve waiting ro make. Itâs gorgeous! You are such a great teacher, very clear and easy to understand. Thanks!
So beautiful Toni! I canât wait to make it, Iâm holding out until I can get my hands on some nice bamboo yarn, I think the drape and the sheen is perfect for this pattern!
It's definitely worth the wait. Hope it turns out lovely :-)
Oh my! Cannot wait to make this!!!
Gorgeous, another one for my list. Thank you for your patterns and great tutorials x
im allllmost done with my first version of this, made in black friday cotton yarn from last year hobbii stash, finally found this pattern and WOWEEEE!!!
Good morning, Toni. I enjoy your tutorials and your channel. Thank you so much. Enjoy your day.
This is so beautiful. Iâve worked with bamboo yarn with silk before. Itâs pretty but it splits so much. Iâm going to try this is cotton. I love it so much!!!
Thank you so much for this lovely pattern and clear instructions!
Thank you for the tutorial.
Hi Toni, THANK YOU for this gorgeous pattern. One more. đ As a german I am always able to clearly understand and follow your instructions. You're so motivating and simply amazing ! đ đ Birgitta
Thank you for another great pattern đ
I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I am always short one or two stitches - no matter how many times I start over. Decided to practice with a more familiar yarn to figure it out. Nope. Same results. I'm tempted to say forget it, but it's so pretty even with the mistakes.
Very pretty shawl. †it. đ
Great tutorial as usual⊠good job đđœ
Tony I made one. Thank ypu so much.
The mini version will make the most beautiful head scarf â€
Hi Ton this is a beautiful project. I tried to buy you a clip of coffee but everything got mixed up because I giant have Chrome I downloaded it but something didnât like something else so I bought your book. If you do jump across the pong I will make some cakes and we will have coffee in m new Den.
Loves and hugs xxxxxxx

Hi I recently found you here and love your work! I wonder if you have tips for a basic loooong shawl with pattern for Tunisian purl 2 rows, knit 2 rows and repeat? I already knit and crochet, but new to Tunisian crochet.
I love this! I have some merino worsted weight will, but it looks a bit thinner that I am used to seeing a worsted weight yarn. Do you think I could use it in place of the dk weight?
Hello. May I ask why mine isnât as long as yours that wraps around like the model wearing it. Like it seems the shawl has longer ends that wrap. I used the same yarn you suggested. Please help.
Does anyone know if the purchased pattern provides the stitch count for EVERY row??
Toni, I know you don't control exactly what's in the kits, but Lion Brand is selling a *bamboo* hook as part of the kit, not a metal one. I'm betting some beginners are going to be really frustrated by that. Might be something to talk to Lion Brand about before future CAL kits if you can? If you've got a recommendation for hook material that seems like something Lion should have taken into account when creating the kits for Crochet Academy.
Hi darling - those hooks are add ons, correct? I believe you can un-check that box so you don't receive that hook. I can't control what LB puts in the kits. That's why I recommend supplies in the tutorials.
@@TLYarnCrafts Drat, I knew you couldn't control it but was hoping Lion might be smart enough to listen to you. They market the kits as being one-stop project shopping so some people assume that's the "right" hook for the project because why else would Lion recommend it. Oh well, I'm sure folks will be fine with bamboo, just a bummer that Lion didn't consider your recommendation for hook material.
Hi!
I'm Brazilian and we don't have an 100% bamboo yarn.
Do you have any considerations regarding a possible exchange? The most similar yarn I found is 50% cottom/50% Bamboo
Love your work!
Hope to, one day, get to the tunisian crouchets
I am struggling with this pattern as I try to figure out why at the end of row 4 the pattern says there should be 27 dc, but it says for row 5 you should repeat row 4...and there should be 35 dc. Maybe it's just me.
Update: It was totally just me!!! I figured out what I was doing wrong, and I finished it (with a few flaws)! I need it to be wider, so I'm going to repeat the pattern a few more times to see if I can fix that.
But beautiful shawl!! Even with the flaws, I feel really good about it.
Toni, in your opinion, would caboo work for this too?
Absolutely! It's got a slightly different structure - the final piece will behave more like cotton than silk, but it'll be gorgeous (and less splitty, lol)
@@TLYarnCrafts that's what I was hoping for, less splitty đ thank you! You're the best!
Iâve checked the blog, all I can find is the paid patterns for the CAL. The link also here on yT is not for the free pattern only the paid one, anyone had success finding the free one?
Hi darling. Free patterns were delayed up they're up now - linked in the description.
Am I missing something or is there a way to know which side is the right vs wrong side? đ
You can use a removable stitch marker on the right side if following the pattern is difficult. The yarn looks good on either side so not an issue at completion imo.
Hello, Iâm struggling with the stitch count being the same on each sideâŠthe first 7 rows give the stitch count. After that, it only says last row should have 339 âŠ..anyone have stitch count for each row going forward from row 7? Thank you. Iâm so wanting to get this right!
Thanks for asking this, because I had the exact same problem! But I think Iâve finally figured it out.
Iâm sure youâve probably also worked this out by now but just in case anybody else is also struggling with this like we were!
Working back from a final count of 339 on the 4 body rows pattern repeat, each row should increase by 8. (Ignoring the treble crochet 3rd row)
339-51 (starting seven rows) = 288
4x9 = 36 (body rows 9 pattern repeats)
288 / 36 = 8
So as long as each Row 4 has increased by 16 stitches from row 2, you should be okay. I think!
I hope this made sense and please let me know if Iâve gotten this completely wrong. Maths isnât my strong suit! đ
@@LightGrace A HUGE THANK YOU for your insight! I think I get what you are explaining, and so far I have done the 4 row repeater only twice, but row 4 does have 16 more stitches than row 2 in each repeat, so sounds like this is going on target! I was marking my stitches on paper each row trying to determine the pattern for increased stitches! Thank you so much for sharing your discovery. Iâve had my project on hold, waiting to make sure this would come out correctly in the end!
@@louannbenware6104 No problem, Iâm glad itâs helped. đ
I came to the comment section hoping someone else would have answered already! Normally I avoid any type of maths like the plague but Iâve completely stalled on my own shawl so was getting pretty desperate. I know Iâve gone wrong somewhere, I just have no idea where! Hopefully this will help me figure it out and I wonât have to rip it back too far! Iâve been knitting for years but only recently started crocheting and for some reason Iâm finding crochet patterns much harder to interpret than knitting ones!
Wishing us both good luck! đ

Thank you so much. I just came across your website. I'm going to try and do this beautiful shawl. đđ«¶
