What's New (To Me) at Efteling Theme Park - 2022 Edition - Kaatsheuvel, Netherlands

- Emily and I visited Efteling in May 2022 and catalogued all of the new things since my previous visit in 2018. I love how the park continues to improve and expand.
Efteling is a theme park located in Kaatsheuvel, Netherlands.

I just watched the video and at first I was glad to finally view a new video from our overseas Efteling ambassador but I was shocked by your end credit. Im sorry for your loss Leonard. Take care.

The boards of “verboden te zwemmen” (forbidden to Swim) are there for a long time. Fun fact in the winter they change it to “verboden ijs te betreden” (forbidden to go on the ice) so ppl don’t walk on it. I don’t know if in the past was a possibility to swim in the lake before the gondeletta. I’m from 1986 so this ride was there already back then.
Your luck with the pagode is very rare. Haha. They refurbished the attraction fully to the old way. So now it rotate to one side all the time. Then it did in the past where they made it that he needed to switch from rotating it to the left and then to the right again. The amount of ppl that can go on it is back to 100 instead of 60. Because of the cable that was removed that made the pagode heavier. The cable was the reason why the pagode had to move to the one side and the other. But it is open now and it got refurbished very nicely now! Even with headlights beneath it for a very nice light show fir when its dark
And yea droomvlucht/dreamflight is in maintenance right now again. Since Oktober till the end of March. They are putting some love into it to get the attraction fully working for all the years to come.
For Archipel, the old maze place is a water play area. Is very popular by kids, for what i’ve seen last summer. And Sirocco is very good as well better then what they had before. The theming is more immersive from start till end.
And last but not least Spookslot will be called Dance Macabre. It will be a thrillride for kids with the age of 8 and above. Its going to be a platform with 5 or 6 rotating platforms on it. Go to the efteling youtube page for that they have some demo on there for how it will be like.

Yeah, the Pagoda just hates me apparently! ;) Glad they refurbished and even upgraded it. Hopefully it'll actually be open next time I'm there, because the light show sounds cool.
I did see the video about Danse Macabre - unfortunately it hadn't come out yet when I shot this in May. Either way, it's very exciting news!
Wonderful video as always Leonard. I mentioned it over in Facebook but I'm once again sorry for your loss. Efteling is a bucket list park and can't wait to go here. And while I still want to visit DLP one day, I have also heard it sucks a lot 😂. Heading to Japan in the Fall. 🙌🏻 -Ven

I'll advise you to wait untill 2024, that year the new grand hotel, and more importantly the new haunted dark ride (former spookslot) will open.
@@DarkSideOfDisney have you seen the replacement for spookslot? Called Dance Macabre.
The forbidden to swim signs have been there for a long time, maybe they got freshened up or moved. But due to the mechanics of the Gondoletta, the underwater turntables and cable, entering the water of the big lake is dangerous, hence the signes.

Enjoyed the video... They really need to take out the pagoda and replace it with a dark ride about pagodas. Is your whole wardrobe Horizons shirts by now? No good segue here, but I'm so sorry for your loss. She seemed like a lovely person.
When the Pagoda works it's awesome! I think I just have really, really bad luck with it. And yeah, I do have a lot of Horizons shirts...

A lady friend of mine bought me the D23 version of that shirt. I wore it so much that I wore it out bad, and now she hates more for all that lol. I made her FAMOUS in Disney's VMK during 2005-2008, so she can go fhs.

Unreal you're missing pagoda again. Too bad you came when there was a lot of maintenance going on. Oh and about the swimming, when it gets real hot in summer dutch people tend to jump in lakes in nature.. especially kids. Sindbad area a is indeed a waterplayground, with no water I see.
The Pagoda being down is seriously a running joke with me at this point. Doesn't matter what time of year I go, it always seems to be down!
Leonard, terribly sorry you lost Emily in the prime of her life. A death is inevitable but at her age it is downright criminal.

I never had Leonard down as one of those sensitive "Politically Correct" kinds of people.
Definitely not "sensitive" or particularly PC, but Monsieur Cannibale was just blatantly racially offensive. For whatever reason the Dutch didn't seem to care much, but once Efteling started catering to UK and US tourists, it needed to change.
