He was seriously the best. He sat and talked to me for like thirty more minutes about life and the industry and other companies he’s worked with. Such a delightful person- I hope to meet him again. He’s exactly who I expect to see working at toy companies honestly. Everyone I’ve met who works with IMC is like that though

Hey Brooke! I would have felt the exact same as you did with the first attempt to go to a booth that got rejected. I also would have cried. Just from the experience and such of it happening. Thanks so much for the video and your time and efforts. Love it! I have no doll friends so your videos are the closest to me, in replace of friends who share the same hobby. I really feel like I am there with you.

I was so gutted but it was a very clear miscommunication on the part of the show runners. Every booth I went to was confused as to why press was allowed- even the ones who were cool to me or allowed me inside seemed surprised
I hope you feel proud of yourself for putting yourself in new and uncomfortable conditions- thats how you get to know yourself better! First group that dismissed you like that were disgusting! Thanks for all you do. Your mom’s house seems beautiful 💜

You are hustling! Honestly you're really brave to go do these things by yourself. At your age I used to travel like only 3 hours away from home alone to go to conventions for press and I would give up and go home like right away because I was so anxious and out of my element. Persisting after some of those booths unexpectedly turned you away (and some rudely) shows guts, and I'm really impressed you stuck around and got such great footage and networked anyway. The MLP news was a huge get and I'm glad you were rewarded for going in that way. I know you mentioned you were feeling burnt out lately so I hope you can take some time to relax soon :) Good job on this!
My heart broke for you when they didn’t honor your appointment. You are - from what I can see, besides being a sweet person, an expert in the doll collecting field. Pls don’t let any of these vendors make you feel any less. They should be thankful that you want to visit with them so 😝 on them lol. Thank you so much for your long drives, and doing so much work to share with us dolly lovers.
Brooke, I have to say I would’ve done the same exact thing which would be crying hysterically.
Oh it was bad. I was very humiliated. The first booth I went to basically said something to the effect of “oh… well we don’t speak to influencers” which sent me on a spiral. I was invited to do press at an event and self funded the whole trip with the understanding that I could… do press. So I was completely blind-sighted. I am so grateful to those who humored me. I visited nebulous stars right after that and they were so kind to me and excited I was there. I’m glad they were the second ones I had on my list because it would have seemed hopeless otherwise. Bonkers was third and they were very kind but said that they weren’t prepared for press and couldn’t let me in but gave me their card. That was more uh… professional.
I would have been discouraged by the first company. I would have cried. The IMC toys guy was super nice and interactive. My daughter loves the crybabies so I love seeing those. We will be getting the bff dolls too. Thanks to you I can know what to shop for. The surprise kitties in the bottles were super cute! You got to see the inside of that trade center. And see mom. Those are fun things too.
Thank you for all the doll content. I get to see so much from you and that is priceless. Finding new things I like and ideas of things for the girls in my life which is wonderful. Cave club is an example. As soon as I saw your reviews I was on a hunt for them. We got most of them too. All the girls and even a little boy loved them. I do as well. So thank you so much for introducing them to me.

I am just watching the beginning showing your mom's glassware collection. I am around your mom's age, and I had completely forgotten about bottles like this that my parents had in the late 70s/early 80s. The two we had were indeed a different pattern, even though they looked the same from a distance. Cool memory for me. Now I'm going to check if those bottles are worth a lot. My parents threw them out in a move.
They’re from Empoli- at least the ones my mom has :) she loves them!
I met a member of staff that works for Sinco when they came to a store I worked in to purchase example products. They shown me photos of all this rainbow high stuff before it was even in production and we had a huge chat about dolls and I shared a tonne of my doll knowledge
Oh how awesome!! These guys were very uninterested in what I was doing but they answered my questions! They had a lot of “secret” LOL stuff I couldn’t show though!
I felt so bad for you with that first appointment!! I’m so sorry that happened and am glad it seemed the others worked out. Thank you so much for sharing all this-I wasn’t aware of several of these toys!!

Nebulous Stars started as a stationery and crafts brand btw, they started selling dolls recently.
The art is amazing, the dolls are certainly not targeted at me.
I absolutely adore the merch. I think the dolls are beautiful, the first two aren’t my favorites but the two more recent releases are incredible. I just wish they were 1/6 scale ahaha
i love your mom’s class collection! my parents and i collect mugs and pretty glass cups and have them displayed as well. but imagine if there’s an earthquake 😭
Can confirm that the mini magic mixlings are wonderful! I bought several a month ago and want more, but they disappeared from stock in stores around me.😢 looking for more. It’s nice too because they have a lower price point than some other blind toys, and with 40 different ones there’s less chance of doubles.
I saw them in stores ONCE and never again. I regret not grabbing a few!
I agree - I got my first $5 one and the quality is fabulous! The little cauldron and magic wand are also a good size for dolls to use!

Fresh Dolls is an African American doll line that came out around 2019 (I could be wrong on the year, it could have been earlier.) They got permission for Black Panter dolls and they are suppose to be released in October for about $50. The current doll lines are suppose to be available at Target and Wal-Mart and they also have their own website.
Oh I know what the fresh dolls are, I apologize that it wasn’t clear. I was confused and worried someone was using the fresh dolls’ brand as those dolls were not labeled as the fresh dolls, they were labeled as “Freshest”

Fresh dolls are an American company, they did a collaboration with My Froggy Stuff. They have a new line out now. I get them at Walmart.
I was just confused because the Black Panther dolls weren’t labeled as “Fresh dolls”
They just launched the collaboration with BP and had planned to have them on shelves but they have been delayed. Watch for them coming soon!

43:37 I recently lucked out and got one of these Healthy Roots dolls, which were up for TOTY this year, from a bargain store for less than $15! (I'm not sure they realized what they had!) I'm so sorry they weren't more open to having media at the Toy Fair.

It sucks that you weren't able to see all the things that were planned, but lots of cute stuff nonetheless. I didn't realize Crybabies we're made by a Spanish company. I'm surprised Fresh Dolls won toty. I've seen pics of the black panther dolls on their website, but I would rather the award went to Naturalistas if I had to pick one black doll company.
Ok I find it extremely rude that the first company essentially told you No PrEsS then slammed the door on your face like if that company didn't want press at their booth they could have put the words not for press in bold on their booking page instead of letting you put that in the notes just to deny you entry, and I'm so sorry that you had to deal with that

I really love this video and I love watching you interact and get so excited for all the new toys coming out. I'm really sorry about the first booth that was very rude to you it could have been a lot nicer about it especially since you even put in the notes when you made the appointment. I find it so funny during the award show part that no one clapped or anything at all for the Avastars lol. Also don't understand how the fresh dolls won when those dolls aren't even out yet and for that price point I don't think they're going to get that many "kids" buying them
As one of the few press people I was surrounded by buyers and toy company employees the entire time and there was definitely an air of annoyance at the awards. Not around doll of the year although I am not sure if the winners were even released before the show? But people were very annoyed that, for example, Lego swept almost every category- it seemed that there was some sort of “incentive” to donate to their foundation

@@emkateultra every doll or toy award show I know of, even those held by fans have some sort of incentive to donate/give PR or attention. It’s an unfortunate reality that people are very easily corrupted.

I don’t want to condemn the company for the actions of one person. I still enjoy their products though. They don’t make dolls anymore so you’re probably good though. I appreciate it but in context- this wasn’t their fault. They said it in a way that really freaked me out but I’m not mad.
Basically NY toy fair which didn’t happen this year was for press AND buyers but Dallas toy fair is only for the buyers. Because of NYTF being cancelled, they decided to invited some press to Dallas. I’m still not sure why I was chosen because I don’t know of many others who were and only saw one other press person and it was a vlogging family who doesn’t cover toys regularly. But anyways the booths were completely unaware of not only the official app for scheduling appointments but also the fact that press would be there and some were really upset about it. Some companies show products that absolutely cannot be shown because they need to be approved by licensing or could be stolen by another company as the patents/trademarks aren’t yet filed. So it is understandable that a few were cold to me. It sucked and it wasn’t cool but I wouldn’t blame the toy companies- I’d blame a lack of communication (or reading the communication they likely did receive)
