    As a Turo host my top strategy for making money on Turo is not wasting time on cars that rent for $25 per day. You put in the same time with a car that rents for $25 vs a car that rents for $125. Also, with the more expensive vehicles, you typically get renters that take better care of your vehicle.

    • @AubreyJanik
      @AubreyJanik  Před 3 lety +25

      In my experience people abuse a car regardless of the type of car, the problem is that the abuse on a cheaper car is much less expensive to fix. But there certainly is more than one way to run a Turo business and the model of renting a higher priced vehicle is a good one to go down!

      Not sure if this is a recent change or not, but the receipt is not a 100% must. I had a midnight return that I had to fill up but pump didn't give a receipt and the gas station was closed. I completed a successful claim with pump gal/cost pics, pre and post-trip pics, and the pending transaction on my card billing statement for the same exact amount as the pump pics.

    Hi Aubrey, new to your channel. I’m glad you brought up about damages and total loss. It’s good and I’m relieved to hear that Turo actually will cover all cost depending on the damages. My concerns although is this and maybe you can shine a light on this. Per say a vehicle have gone and done the safety and pre inspection prior to a client using it and say while the clients been using it for couple of days there’s a electronic or mechanical failure on the vehicle that weren’t there before or even in its history of the vehicle. I know for a fact that many clients probably will take advantage of the vehicle because simply knowing that they will be covered regardless anything that happened to the vehicle. If a client drives and treated a Mercedes like it’s a honda or unresponsibly uses the vehicle for joyrides or street race and blew the transmission or water pump or engine overheated due to failed thermostat in that case will Turo cover those repairs ? I’d love for you to give me feedbacks pls. Thank you. 👍

      I am Turo host in Califirnia. It would be difficult ti privide a guest had something to do with a electrucal issue and Noooooo Turo would deny the claim. Just a fyi remember cars break down, starters, breaks, thermastat. You have to keep your receipts for maintence. If you are that concerned I would install a tracker that monitors abuse fir example speeding. You could provide they ruined your tires from excesssive fast stopping. Take pictures of your tires. Take pictures of the doors and dashboard. Please rip holes in your leather.

    • @AubreyJanik

    Not sure I like the idea of hoping people damage or leave the car super dirty just to profit off of it. Also seems like you either have to invest time or money in detailing or repairing cars which seems like an offset to some of the money you can make. Also what about general maintenance cost for the car? Surely if the car is being used often you will need to replace brakes, belts, fluids which will also eat away at profit unless your being cheap there which isn't really ethical...

All of my 11 cars are $100 to $200 per day and I have had virtually no problems because the clientele is high end and they tend to take GREAT care of my cars. I haven't had an accident with a guest in 2 years of renting...knock on wood!!

    • @AubreyJanik
      @AubreyJanik  Před 2 lety +3

      You can absolutely profit from totaled cars, it’s not an income source I would rely on but if you are losing money when your cars are wrecked than you are buying your cars at the wrong price. It’s never good to have a total loss, but it can be a profit center if you buy cars at the right price. This point in the video isn’t saying that you should look to total cars, but that you should keep it in mind when purchasing cars, and thus always buy below market value

      Just some thoughts...

    • @AubreyJanik
      @AubreyJanik  Před 3 lety +3

      @@michaelguillot8242 I get it, not everyone is interested in Turo and I totally understand that. I am making videos 3 days per week and I do plan to divide those videos amongst business/side hustles/ Turo and there will be people that aren't interested in Turo and others that don't care about business/side hustles which I totally get.
      it's tough because the reality is the vast majority of my subscribers have come from stimulus related content - which is an unsustainable topic to continue with if I want this channel to continue long term, so pivoting into a new direction (which is really the old direction this channel was originally intended to be) is a step I feel is necessary.
      But, I also think that the channel can't niche down too much. I believe covering Side Hustle/Business/Turo is a good approach because they are all related to each other indirectly, but they aren't too niched to where I am making my target audience too small.
      There is also a very real problem of coming up with content - I don't have enough business ideas to talk about that exclusively three days per week, nor do I have enough Turo content to talk about that exclusively 3 days per week. But I also don't think it's a good play to have a separate channel for every individual topic I have an interest in covering - which is why I think having this channel be the "Making money" channel is the right move, and Turo is a part of that.
      If you look at a lot of big creators you will see a similar trend, and I am sort of modeling my strategy off of them - for example Andrei Jikh is a crypto channel, but he makes videos about Crypto, Stock Investing & the occasional side hustle video. Graham Stephan started as real estate, but now focuses housing markets, general investing and general finance. For me I am modeling my strategy in a very similar way where the focus is making money but the video topics are Turo, Side Hustles...etc
      As for the subscriber growth - channel growth goes with the flow of your videos - I grew a ton last year because I had a ton of videos get picked up by CZcams and thus pushed out new audiences, same thing happened in October of last year and again in January. When CZcams pushes my content (which has happened once every few months) i gain an influx of subscribers really quickly, but then I settle into a new normal. At one point I was gaining 5-10 subscribers per day on a regular basis, then it went from 20-30 now I am gaining consistently 80-100 new subscribers per day. This has been pretty consistent even with the shift in content recently. I don't feel like as of now this shift in content it is slowing growth, the slower growth is just due to the fact that I haven't had a video pop off recently which is expected.
      Sorry for the huge response here, lol definitely didn't mean to post a novel- but I know you've mentioned a few times about the lack of interest in Turo and how that could effect the channel and so I wanted to provide some insight into what my own thought process with this is. I of course value what the viewers of this channel want to see, and I have plans to equally divide this channel amongst business and Turo - in fact, a money video is coming tomorrow!
      But, the reality is that Turo videos perform really well, and aside from stimulus they've consistently been my best performers and I as much as I feel a real need to cater to viewers like you who don't have an interest in Turo I also feel a need to cater to those that do.
      Like always I appreciate your feedback and your continued support! I didn't meant to type out a massive message here but wanted to provide a thoughtful answer to this as I do think you bring up valuable feedback. But, I also want to emphasise that money making videos aren't going anywhere and I am going to be making a real effort to equally divide this channel and the content among different revenue streams and side hustles, but Turo will always be a part of that as long as I am involved in Turo with my own personal business.

      @@AubreyJanik I'm glad you did, I understand a lot more now!
      You have good judgment, seems like you're making the right call here

    Respectfully, there are a lot people who truly believe that they good at something, and sometime it truly appears as they do, they feel good about themselves! and applaud about how they go about it, until time passes and see what they thought was the right isn't. I am saying all that to underline if you hire an accountant or personal financial adviser they will show you how to go about calculating ,revenue profit, expenses and so on. In business you cant crunch numbers with emotions and reasons, 2+2 =4 that is the end.

      I’m still confused where this claim of me calculating my numbers from “emotion” is coming from lol or what that has to do with this video, but okay.

    Im curious who rents these cars that no one wants and for what purpose. This girls car has done a lot of crimes. Personally I would avoid these clunker rentals and so would anyone doing legit stuff. These are druggy loaners.

    I fully understand they way you go about calculate your revenue (expenses - income). But the problem is you using logic and emotions in tabulate these numbers. Unfortunately finance does not involve emotions or logic. For example if someone return the car half full , how do you measure your time to go and fill the tank? wait for Turo to reimburse you! Which can take days, how do you come about with a cost benefit value for your time?

      I’m not sure I understand your question - none of the figures I’ve outlined here have anything to do with emotion, they are just straight facts. Sure, I try to be fair- as business should. Making money isn’t about screwing over someone to make a quick buck, it’s about doing what needs to be done for a sustainable business model.
      As for waiting for turo to reimburse you- sure, you have to wait. But I don’t need money right this second, I can wait until the reimbursement is approved and until it hits my account, which if you play the Turo game like I do and you follow the terms of service to a T, you’ll get approved. You may have to wait 72 hours but that’s fine.
