in almost 20 years, the Cinematic team is probably the part of the whole company. no matter how good or bad the game is at times, the Cinematic team never let's the people down.
Except finally with Dragonflight. Though I suppose the backdrop and story might not be down to the actual cinematic team. But DF one was crap comparatively.

@@Briansgate Ye, probably. But that's all very technical. And more likely to get right. The magical nature of Blizzard trailers being far above anything else is gone. Shadowlands trailer looks great and is quite awesome, but I hardly ever want to see it again after a few watches because of the story. Dragonflight's cinematic doesn't infuriate me but it has zero rewatchability.

P.S. As bad as BfA turned out I think that cinematic was the best one they ever made. I also like Wotlk and Legion a lot of course. But I think BfA cinematic is just more packed with epicness than some of the others.

I've always wanted a proper depiction of Arthas on the big screen made from the Blizzard cinematic team.

It's crazy how seeing someone notice the little details us veterans have taken for granted for years. Gives me a whole new perspective of things.
If you throw back to your very first wow leveling experience, I believe youâll remember the same feelings, cause I do. I remember also being amazed by so many things that we now take for granted. Leveling my first character was the best experience I ever had playing wow, itâs like exploring a new fantasy world. It didnât feel boring or tiring at all, only excitement.

@@leowee9122 Actually my first leveling experience was really weird. I was super new and leveling too fast. I didn't know what any button does. I was dragged to every corner of Azeroth by my friend. I was recruited so I had an insane amount of xp boost. Lol

The excitement and awe at the beginning made me tear up. I wish I could experience this game as enthusiastically as I did back when I started about 14 years ago, with the same level of energy.
I'm in the same position as the guy in the video. Now that I can finally afford paying money for games (during my childhood I had to use some shady methods to play em or just go for f2p games) I can start my wow journey. Hope it will last and maybe create some good memories.

@@jing-ling3862 I started out with classic. My neighbor talked me into it. I loved it. And after just two weeks and having just 3 gold in my possession, my account was banned for gold botting. It was the week of Christmas break and they didn't get it sorted out until after the new year. I had done nothing wrong and they didn't even say "Oops, we are very sorry. Here's a few healing potions on us." It left a very bad taste in my mouth. Then I tried out retail and loved it too. Plus I get to collect all this stuff! I've done SOD for a bit and it was fun too.
As someone who plays for more than 17 years, this is amazing :) keep it up!

As a 15 year player of WoW, watching you interact with those players on the boat had me wheezing, oh my god. That was just so typically every interaction between a tired old veteran and a first-time player, ever. Ah, bless.
Also, I wonder if the voice actor for the Captain on the boat is the same as the one for Ashley in Mass Effect. They sound so alike.
This is somehow exactly what I wanted. But I figured anyone who would have played WoW by now would have done so. Shocked to see a "blind" playthrough. Keep it up!

@@stack3dsouls492 rn classic due to Shadowlands is over for most of the parts and getting stuff is.. not needed. Since EXP buff is going on, maybe leveling some classes u dont have to max but thats it for retail imo.

â@@stack3dsouls492 It depends on what you really want. Retail is very new-player friendly while Classic isn't, pre-patch should come out in a couple weeks if it comes out when season ends. New expansion comes in a month. WotLK is still fresh though, in a couple months it will pretty much die out and people will only play once a week for raiding, it kinda depends if it is worth grinding for you.

classic wrath of the lich king is far better!
Classic and Retail WoW are almost 2 different games now. As someone who has played WoW since day 1 of the original release I can say that I live both, but for different reasons. Classic is actually more immersive and has more RPG elements to it; however the gameplay (like fighting) is a lot slower paced; this makes the world feel more dangerous. Retail on the other hand with its faster paced combat and rapid killing of mobs makes you feel like a hero much more quickly, however it makes the world feel less dangerous.
Both versions are fun.
Each expansion tells its own story; in Retail you decide in which expansion you want to level while in Classic you level from 1-60 in the Vanilla world (the continents Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms - yes I know, weird name for a continent; but the original name for that continent, Azeroth, is now the name of the entire planet), from 60-70 in the Outlands (the area that was added in The Burning Crusade) and from 70-80 on the continent Northrend (added in Wrath of the Lich King).
In Retail you can level in the Vanilla/Cataclysm areas (in the third expansion Cataclysm the devs revamped the original continents), in the Outlands (The Burning Crusade), in Northrend (Wrath of the Lich King), Pandaria (Mists of Pandaria), Draenor (Warlords of Draenor), the Broken Isles (Legion), Zandalar and Kul'Tiras (Battle for Azeroth) or the Shadowlands (Shadowlands); the new expansion, Dragonflight, is set to be released in November, the prepatch for the expansion launches at the end of October.
Speaking of Alliance and Horde...none of them are bad guys per se. Throughout the lore of the game both sides have done both good and bad; however while often fighting against each other in skirmishes and even all-out war they usually quickly joing forces as soon as a common enemy (also known as the final boss of each expansion ;-) ) arises.
PS: The Worgen are actually werewolves - the human inhabitants of the kingdom of Gilneas who have been inflicted with lycanthropy.
@@phantomdancer3279 i agree, i actually think starting here is better though to get your feet wet with all the specific instructions on how to do things. The classic questing and world are less linear and the classic questing experience is way more fun i think. In classic you aren't one shotting mobs as a level 3.

This is modern world of warcraft, the hipe was around the remake of the older versions, becouse each expansion this game got ruined by the devs and turned worst, now the main game is unplayable, it's better to play the old wrath of the lich king, much better. The new game is like a shitty mobile game almost. If you want experience this old game you NEED to play the original, not this manipulated and ruined version.
It's like going into an italian restaurant in US and thinking you travelled and saw italy. Time as past, old games are still old, and better than the new ones. Classic is old but more enjoyable than the current version. Panda got added later indeed and have nothing to do with WoW, it's just some commercial shit , and it's the best of the bad things.
I must say you brought back soooo much happy memories for when I first played wow 17 years ago. Watching you explore things for the first time and chatting with almost everyone you see and getting excited about the simplest things is exactly what I did back in the day :D. Thank you for making me feel this way again and I really hope you enjoy the rest of your journey in wow.

Love to see this! There are friendly people and a newcomer chat in game, but a lot of people burn through the starting zone super fast while leveling alts. Type / before an emote to rp emote! /wave /bow ect. The panda gave you a bow when you said hi

the vanilla cinematic is STILL epic after almost 20 yrs.. still gives me goosebumps! my first 100hrs in wow was a experience that I prob never will get from another game ever! A epic adventure indeed, good memories :)
Just begun to watch because, you know, a fellow WoW player here. It's almost magical to see when a completely new player gets their hand on the game. It is a reminder of the charm of what makes WoW so fun. Not so much because of what it provides but the players you can play with, very magical and nostalgic when I had first started (even though I had started back in 2004, when WoW originally started). In your case, you had experience with other MMOs which provides you some conditioning, and WoW is especially one of the most daunting games to learn but you'll be learning some familiar, some new things.
All in all, enjoy yourself and perhaps will even run into you here and there! Just remember to have fun because despite WoWs major footprint into the MMO and population of players, social interaction can be skewed by die-hard players than truthful and helpful people. It also helps to have friends, so do try to have a bud with you.
Again, enjoy yourself because it's a new adventure ( with maybe except Shadowlands, we don't like to talk about it...).

Loved your commentary on this - genuinely loled! As a long time WOW player looking forward to seeing how you get on.
So few notes that might help:
1. You're in luck! you picked one of the easier classes in the game, Hunter is known to be a roll head on keyboard class.
2. Hunters can tame pets, the game will probably give you one at some point but if you see a cool wolf or tiger etc. you can tame it once you hit I think level 10, you get the tame abilitiy.
3. In this game there is "Heirloom Gear" which is gear you can give to your non-main characters to speed up leveling, so if you see someone that looks armored up like that Dwarf you tried saying hi to, he's probably a veteran player with heirlooms that's just trying to grind another alt.
4. When you are attacking a target dummy press 'esc' key to stop targeting it and that shoulddd take you out of combat with it, you can also try looking away so your character doesn't continue to auto attack
5. There is no sprint in the game, there are movement abilities you unlock over time, for hunter you have "Disengage" which makes you jump back far and "Aspect of the Cheetah" making you run fast for a short time.
6. When you hit level 10 you will unlock mounts which is best way to get around quickly.
7. The rules for trial accounts are funky like people can't send you mail or they can't whisper you or some can't talk to you etc. so some of the players might not be seeing your messages due to it, there are also addons to block whispers I found out about in the last expansion, some very conceded people when I messaged them respond back "You are not high enough level with this person to talk to them" so I imagine they have like an addon that gives them their own reputation system etc etc.

Are you talking about retail that every class has 5 spells each? Because in wotlk/cata hunters have enough key bindings and macros to cover all your 5 auction bars

It's so crazy to see the new starting experience from the perspective of a new player. Especially compared to what I'm used to
As many times as I've tried Exiles Reach, I just can't get into it like I can the OG starting zones for the races.
Iâve recently returned to playing wow after about a close to 10 year break, I stopped because of the pressure of my raiding guild to power through content and unlock gear ect, now I am playing for myself, following the story, delving into the lore way more than I did back in the day. Hope you enjoy the journey.

Night elf hunter class is a great pick for a first character in WOW. Hunter is easy to learn and hardy even at the early levels. During a trial run of the game, your ability to interact with other players has some limitations. Those limits will be lifted if you decide to subscribe. Hunter is least dependent on other players to progress. I play both factions, every class, and most races. If you fall in love with the game, I urge you to make characters in both factions and try several of the most appealing classes before settling upon your favorite. Character class is the only trait you cannot change on a toon after it is created. Other things can be changed (gender, appearance, name, race). If you subscribe, make at least one other character on the same realm for convenience sake. You can mail valuables to that other toon to free up storage space in your bags. If you subscribe I would also recommend making one toon of each race and playing through their race specific start zone to get an introductory feel for their lore. Exile's Reach is a generic start zone that was added to the game in later years to help introduce new players to the game. For example, the traditional Human start zone is Northshire Valley and their capital city is Stormwind, both in Elwynn Forest. The Tauren city is Thunder Bluff in Mulgore. Most of the race specific start zones take you up to level 5 and then send you out into the big bad world. It is not a huge time investment to sample the "flavor" of each race. With a subscription, you can create up to 50 toons on a single account and it is nothing to delete a toon that is only level 10 so feel free to "play the field"
Long time WoW fan since elementary school when I watched my uncle first play in 2005, I have never played the new intro zone yet, this was so awesome to watch. I do think you might want to dabble in Classic WoW, the story and relative gameplay (class play), is better. But creature comforts and quality of life of Shadowlands (soon to be Dragonflight) are so much better than Classic. If you're able to, I'd recommend using "Chromie Time" to play through past/classic content while you're leveling. I dont know if its available (since Blizzard might push you through the newer content), but the story and quest content is much better than Battle For Azeroth and Shadowlands content (horde side at least). Alliance side, BFA was actually pretty good.

Quick additional note: the realm you chose is an RP realm, so depending on how strict the players are on it they might report your name for being "non roleplaying," If you get forced to change the name drop your "RPG" tag and you'll be golden đȘ

Easiest way to do auto loot (IMO) is to just hold down shift+right click. That way you can right click to loot manually, or just shift+right click to loot everything. Area loot is on by default in current WoW (but it doesnt exist in Classic because it was added later on)
It baffles me nobody in the in-game chat mentioned it, including the so called "guide".
I recommend the opposite: turn on auto loot and right click to auto-loot, then shift+right click to loot normally (since 99% of the time you're auto looting)
the new tutorial Island is nice for people who never played wow before but to be honest ... The original starting zones for each Race where so much more immersive ... i kinda miss that
I've had a bit of a unique experience when it comes to WoW. A little context:
I'm totally blind, meaning that until very recently I was never able to play any form of WoW. Two separate groups of people simultaneously have been working on addons for both retail and classic. Basically, the retail one is progressing much slower due to time constraints etc. This meant that all I was able to do in retail was maybe 3 quarters of exiles reach, so I got the general vibe. The classic mod comes out a few months later and I'm able to do so much more. Anyway, my first and only real experience has been through tbc and now wrath, but I can already tell I just really liked all those starting areas more. For some reason the characters in the retail starting area just annoy me đ
the problem is new account cant choose between starting race area or the tutorial island.
i cant wait to see at lvl 10 when he will be overwhelmed by the content and wont have a clue where to lvl^^
Curious, are the racial starting zones still the same in retail all these years later? Or does it literally still feel like you're in 2006 đ

Seeing this is actually a bit sad for me, the intro hyped me up and then i was expecting the classic experience of logging into a huge world. They just drop you onto a ship now :( I would recommend you try WoW Classic to get the true experience of getting dropped into a world this massive for the first time and figuring stuff out yourself. This is a highly dumbed down version of what we experienced back in the day
right?? i don't understand this decision at all. Instead of letting someone learn for themselves they try to hand it on a silver platter. Ofc it's important to show the mechanics and abbilities etc, but i thought it's much more immersive when you get to learn your abbilities on the way while you explore the world...
I was kinda mad when I first logged back onto wow after like 6 years and found out they got rid of the individual species storylines because those were always my favorite part of the game
especially the worgen one I would replay that shit over and over again because I loved it so much

Excellent first installment! Definitely here for more. If you want to have a game where people actually interact with one another, then classic is where it's at, but the leveling phase is a lot slower there so maybe not the best for content. If you want to end up in an enjoyable endgame and actually connect with other people then play WotLK classic. If you want a quick leveling experience with lots of scenery changes but a completely bland and pointless endgame and also nobody speaking to each other then go for retail.

I've never been playing wow but it's so satisfying to listen to how much you enjoy little things like soundtrack or how much attention u are paying to the environment, while watching first ep felt like i was in game cause of Immersion u presented
