My only issue with it was the awkward clash between "haha holy shit they totally do recycle slices" and "oh my god this robot sounds so much like me let's prank people" with "My ex-husband is involved in siberian human trafficking and tried to take my son away from me, I now live in constant fear for me and my son's safety and now he might be trying to claim other victims"
The whole introducing and promoting gambling to kids is also very very fucked up.

Are you seriously telling me you think that someone freaking out over an impossible pizza theory and playing with speech recognition with your friends can be considered a documentary?? Maybe the dramatic sex trafficking story thrown in there confused you, but that's a recount of a story by one person's point of view, would've fit better in an interview setting, not a "documentary". Stop giving him credit for diluting his content to make more money.

I personally agree with what Ethan is saying. The docu-series felt way too long and drawn out. The editing was hard to keep focus and jumped around far too much. Not to mention this whole bit just felt incredibly overplayed (like most of what was being talked about). The only part to me that was actually captivating was Brittani's story. In fact that was so important that it should have been its OWN video.
Maybe that's just me though.

The editing was not good. It jumped around more than a kangaroo. How are you suppose to follow the story line, when it goes from my husband is trying to human traffic me and my son to chucky E. Cheese? I feel like it could have been so much better, but in my opinion it's so not netflix worthy.

I'm not sure why the Chuck E. Cheese part gained traction over Brittani's story which seemed like the main through line of his latest video. The pizza bit was secondary imo. Part of the main subject matter of the series for sure but also a side show, along with the silly voice prank crap. It catered to his audience but Brittani's story kept me watching to the end.
The worst thing that happened to Brittani was that she got involved in a domestic violence, i thought the story wasn’t that interesting because that happens all the time. Also her child and her is not in any danger at all the guy faked everything hes not a doctor, hes not a tennis player and so he is definitely not in the Mafia. But i do feel sorry for the child he’s never going to live a normal life now because of how scared they are but i think they need to go to therapist or something because it’s likely they aren’t in any immediate danger and are being overprotective with the child which will result in social issues in the future with him.

Human trafficking is a very real thing that happens to unsuspecting people, even if the guy was lying. I'm shocked he did this to a youtuber but I thought Shane made a good point about why he may have chosen her. I'm sure she'll get all the help she needs now and that child will be nothing but loved. Bit odd he would instantly hook up and impregnate someone else so quick though. What a creep.
I completely agree. Brittani has always been such a sweet and kind person, her book broke my heart. No one should have to go through something like that. The Chuck e cheese story was gross and interesting, but her story was more important, imo.

you're commenting on a 20-minute segment of an originally 2 hour long podcast. is this not enough? also, remember back when shane had his own podcast? i'm pretty sure he has videos of it on his channels somewhere, did you watch all of those like you watched his documentary? i just looked it up actually. in 2017, the shane and friends channel uploaded a video called "shane and friends 117 - jeffree star", and it's an hour long. it only has 97k views. did you watch that one? or just the highlights? my point here is that i personally would have enjoyed if shane had either done separate 20-40 minute videos on each topic (shorter wait time for each video) or had a 2 hour video with separated topics in it (skipping around isn't difficult). the h3h3 podcast is enjoyable, just like shane's was, but i also enjoy being able to watch the content as advertised. i knew shane's other documentaries were about tana or jake paul. wow that was a lot! don't take me too seriously, we're all just strangers on the internet :)

I think the main problem with conspiracy videos like Shane's is that they can ruin a business or have other serious real-life consequences and Shane does not seem to realize that. Did everyone forget about the shooting that pizzagate caused? It's all fun and games until other people are seriously affected by such ridiculous conspiracy theories
I completely agree, and that's why I hate conspiracy theories in general. It encourages people to believe in things with no real solid evidence or facts and theses beliefs can have real life consequences and can impact people's lives in a negative way. I've heard a lot of Chuck E Cheese employees are now getting harassed about the pizzas every day because of Shane's theory. Shane needs to be more responsible and realize the impact that he can have on people's livelihoods.

Shane has shared a lot about his dreams of having something more like a tv show, he just realized he didn’t need to wait for a tv show when he’s fully capable of doing it on his channel and proof is in the views for sure. It’s so long because he doesn’t post as frequently in order to focus on bigger things, his fans aren’t only understanding because he talks a lot about how much happier he is making this sort of content vs what he used to do but they ask for it! CZcams has become a main source of entertainment for a lot of people, it makes sense.

I promise as someone whose lived in the pizza business you are correct.
Despite making fresh dough and prepping ingredients daily, we would get accused for the same thing for the same reason.
Our trays were fresh dough to oven. Heres the deal, when you are slammed and cutting 48 cuts of pizza every 4-7 minutes, employees dont even think in terms of symmetry.
12 cuts was was sliced in 2 sheets of 6, then each slice was seperated. Most of the time, both sides of the pie werent even placed in the same area of the large metal apperatus used for cooling (minor to keep crust crisp) and traying.
Even then, things get boxed or trayed not by symetry but a robot technique to get people the amount they ordered as quickly and neatly as possible.
Anything that sat for even 5 minutes got put on a tray and seperated to send to grocery stores, literally erasing incentive to serve anything but fresh. Yet we still got accused because of the "frankenstein trays".
Anyone whose worked in a busy kitchen would totally get it.

I mean what I find real confused/disheartened about when people talk about shanes video being bad or how his content is shit, is that Shane actually puts so much work into his videos, takes him months to film and edit stuff together. Yes they are long, and yes you may not be able to sit there that long to watch the content he puts out there, but you can't simply say one reason it's bad is because its to long. Yes you proabably cannot or don't want to sit there that long to watch his content, and maybe you ask yourself "Why does everyone think this is so good?! I find his content was shit/bad." The reason is all these people watch and come back for his content is because shanes and his crews personality, they are sweet, funny(Its all in what you think, maybe not everyone will.) , genuine. He puts passion into his videos, takes time and care, makes things different everyone now and then by maybe changing or experimenting how he does or edits his videos. He actually listens, and tries to do better. His stuff is much more different than idk a jake Paul video or just funny vlog you watch from someone. He doesn't do fake pranks, short skits...or anything quick to just upload right then and there. Of course his content is not perfect, nothing is, there's always stuff that could be done better. But you gotta at least credit the work he puts into doing his videos.
Say what you will about, not liking the editing, Shane not going deep enough into the topics at hand, or any valid criticism about the product he put out on the internet. But he has effort ad heart and i and many people know for sure that he is not doing anything just for a quick buck. He's gone from making crazy comedic skits, to making eating videos, to making long documentary length type content.

I had a really great experience in Chuck E Cheese when I was little in the 80's, I was a very poor child that was invited to a birthday party from a kid in school, I didn't have money for tokens so I couldn't play games with the other children to pass the time while I sat alone I drew a picture on a napkin for the guy in the Chuck E Cheese costume because I was happy to just be there but in return he gave me tokens, so I did it again and he gave them to me again, in fact he did this for me during the whole party so I could play games with the other kids. I'll never forget the kindness of the employee Chuck E Cheese costume.

What i didn't like about the Shane Dawson documentary was how it was cut. I was getting interested in his friends story and then suddenly he switches back to Chuck e Cheese, then I'm getting interested in the Chuck e Cheese stuff and he'd switch back to the friends story. Just give me one and then the other.

I personally likes the cut because when you have something that's long you dont want people thinking it drags on, it very quickly establishes that there are many stories not just one thing... The thing that doesn't make sense about the pizza is that if you just order one it doesn't come out even, even when you do half a pizza Domino's doesn't cut it in half you get it as is and it's perfectly round because it was cooked all in one and not separately, so why can't Chuck-E-Cheese do that?

My mom used to be the granny bear at Showbiz Pizza in the early 80s but wasn't allowed to tell my sister and I. She had lost custody of us due to her having mental illness and it was the only way she could hug us. My dad would take us to Showbiz pizza every weekend and we never knew why until we were older. Heartbreaking but true. Cool thing is she niw lives next door to me and my kids. :)

Love how you say that Shane's video is too long. Maybe take some of your own advice and make your podcast shorter? A lot of long silences and you coughing or figiting in some way... you cut these clips out of the podcast but don't bother editing them?
I like Shane but the ending of the jake paul docuseries kind of made the rest of it pointless and the conspiracy stuff is sensationalized and alot of it ends up being pretty normal stuff or nothing at all.
The iPhone live photo one made me pretty mad. Like yes, live photos are a thing. In order to work, the IPhone records and then cuts up the footage on your phone from 1.5 seconds before you hit the button, and 1.5 seconds after you hit the button. They explained this all in a conference and you can easily search and find this information online. It's not like they are trying to hide what it is or how it works. And if you don't like it, you can disable it.
