This is the second full year for my peonies. I staked them with bamboo stakes and garden twine last year but as I speak, I'm charging the drill up a bit and will run the twine through the holes as you instructed. Great idea! I don't mind the few extra steps:) This year being it's their second spring/summer they are very healthy and full. I probably should have staked them a earlier this month:) Thank you for the time taken producing this informative vid:) After looking around the house, I decided a bread tie should work fine to thread the twine:)
So glad you found this helpful. I have a long overdue video on another way to support and stake peonies. Stay tuned. Thanks for being a part of the channel 😄
Hi can you walk us through your set up of gardening supplies and tools? I hope to spend the next year starting my first garden on my apartment balcony. I’d like to invest in tools that will be useful
Hello and a warm welcome from Acorn Hill. Many thanks for this very timely suggestions. Yes! I actually am in the middle of filming this content. Stay tuned and thanks for subscribing and being a part of the circle
Staking really not necessary for intersectional or Itoh peonies. There are also many varieties of herbaceous peonies that do not need staking. See the American Peony Society’s recommendations for Landscape peonies.
We learn something new every day about plants don’t we? I’ve been fortunate that the peonies in NC do grow. It would’ve been a shame if they didn’t survive the heat here. What sort of peonies do you have in WI? I bet they’re phenomenal!
All that hard work will be worth it when you see them in bloom
most definitely
Thank you Ninang Vid!
Wow. I admire your persistence
Thanks very much
Excellent vid!

I thought Peonies love the cold. They would have been fine w/o being covered. I'm in WI and never cover them even our temp dropped into low 20s
