This really needs to be a safety recall by MB. I've been putting it off for a while waiting for the weather to cool a bit.
I agreed and don't know why there is no safety recall. I put A/C in my garage, I don't like working in the heat either. Thanks for watching.

$600 is a fair price to pay for that job, MB charges $1600 because they change the entire door panel.

Theres a few issues with the W204/S204 that should be a recall .. the timing chain issue on the M271 and these handles. MB seriously dropped the QC.
Hey John. I just replaced my handle by your instructions. The hardest part for me was getting out that old pin. Really struggled with that. Will suggest everyone watching to take your time with that pin. Everything else went smooth. Total cost for parts 21 euros for me. Works like a dream
Glad it helped, I did not have a hard time getting the pin out, with the tool I used I was able to drill dead center. I did have a hard time getting the new pin back in. I eventually used the old pin not the one in the kit. Don't forget to give the video a like, it helps the channel grow, thanks.
Interestingly enough me and my dad also ended up using the old pin!!

I put a list of tools I used in the description of the video. The only tool not in the description is the torx screwdriver, mine was a Snap on.
Omg, I thought you were kidding on how much a repair shop was going to charge for this repair. I was quoted $1200-$1500 for a local shop. Your video was a great help. I just recommend not taking off the window seal. Just pop the bottom on both ends and let it hang there. Also I noticed I had a few tabs that I had to cut off that did get replaced with screws. Great video and recommend it to anyone having to replace the door handle. I purchased all need tools from your comment section. Thanks again for the video… John, post falls Idaho

Best video I've seen on replacing these door handles. The whole interior door replacement panel alone from MB parts is around $750. I'm going to buy the door handle parts kit for under $20 now that I've seen John's video.

hey, thank you so much for the video. One question I have is about the LED courtesy light that had the little white clip and the smaller black one that clips on the L shaped plastic LED light. Is the L shaped hard plastic the light or is it the bottom black part that clips on? Mine doesn't work and I was thinking about replacing it. there isn't a lot of info about replacing it. Did that light work on the car you fixed? Its the light in the gap where you actually grab the handle on the interior. Any info would be great! thanks!
The led light did work on the car I fixed. I never tried to order one or replace one. I went into detail on the video on how to remove the led light.
Question - for a 2013 e350 - I needed to replace the rear passenger door.
I was fortunate to find a replacement that matches except for the exterior door handle. The original door has the touch sensor, the replacement does not. Would the replacement door be wired for the touch sensor handle.
As a rule, most manufacturers use the same wiring harness for a particular model and just plug in the options when required. I say as a rule, (I can't be sure the E350 does) It is a lot of work just find the plug is not there. Your best bet would be to call Mercedes Benz service department.

It is a lot of work, but not that hard if you take your time. The cost breakdown: the dealer = $1600, new door panel from dealer = around $800 then you need to install it, door handle from Amazon = around $20 to $30 then watch the video numerous times while you're doing the work, show the video to a mechanic and ask him/her how much to do the job = should be around $500 to $600 + the cost of the door handle. Hey I have a problem with my 2014 c250 we got the handle replaced but the door handle is still not working. Any suggestions?
Did you put the cable in the holder on the door panel? If the cable is not in the right spot on the door panel it will not work. At 6:51 on the video is where I show where the cable goes.
@@FRUGALWITHJOHN yeah that the problem we had bought a new one and put in. But the handle would unlock the door but wouldn’t open the actual door. It’s weird

Hi, which way does the new pivot pin go into the handle?
I would need to re-watch the video, I used the old pin, but the hole I drilled was dead center and small.

Just done this job myself. You do not need to completely remove the window trim to do it.
No, just both sides, I did remove it all because I did not want to work around it.
