- Kirby has worn a lot of hats throughout the series, each representing its own Copy Ability. With Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe adding even more, which of these hats stand out as the most creative, interesting, and just cutest?

Something i thought id mention, Kirby’s design when using the mirror ability mimics that of Marx, with the pale skin tone and the red and blue jester hat, even both of them have the same attack where they split in two. The main difference is that Kirby’s version of the hat is flipped when compared to Marx’s, which could be refering to their constrasting personalities; Marx being selfish and wanting to have popstar all to himself, and Kirby caring and loving everyone equally.
That malicious smirk when he does the split attack is so Marx

Marx also splits himself in half for his black hole attack, in an identical fashion to mirror's dash attack.
Marx's base form is likely some kind of "mirror ability" based creature, like how Sir Kibble is a cutter guy.

Realizing that Wheele isn't in Star Allies but would be a perfect fit always bugs me
Considering each partner could be controlled by a player, it makes me wonder. Would the person that's wheelie be the one in control, or the rider? Regardless, it'd make the other person just... Sit there and do nothing. I'm just not really sure how it'd work.
@@Rogeryoo in superstar, kirby is the one who control wheelie like a wheel copy but wheelie didn't just sit there it can attacks by shooting powerful stars to any direction and I mean powerful I REALLY MEAN IT (watch the most powerful character in gaming ever #14 from who is this git)

Wheelie rider in Kirby's superstar ultra has a move that spits out small stars vertically so it actually is kinda different from the normal wheel
Weeklie ride can shred through bosses if you have a second player with you.

Bomb Kirby's hat is based on fireworks which is also why his bombs now have myc firework-y explosions its not that deep (although i do agree its a top-notch design! and arguably an elemental crown!)
it took me so long to realize the hat was a firecracker, i used to hate it’s design but i think learning this has changed my whole opinion on it

I'd think my favorite ability hat is wing. It's both my favourite ability and hat, and I really like it because it basically is part of the abilities attacks too. And the colour of the wins look so vibrant and work well together.
I also really like the burning Kirby ability hat In the GBA games, I really like how the gems of the crown are shiny flames, and (Im not entirely sure if this counts but) the flames on his hands just looks like Kirby's a natural fire bender and it's so cool.
Beetle's hat is really layered in its awesomeness. Since its an evolution of Super Star's Suplex, coming from the same boss and using all the grab moves while adding new ones, it being similar to the Samurai Helmet that Ninja and Stone left behind is really cool. It having an elytra and some moves borrowed from Wing Kirby also adds to it. It seems like Beetle Kirby is this huge homage to Super Star in a deceptively subtle way.
drill has so many things I love about it, the little visor coming down over his face, the exhausts on the side of the hat and most notably the drill on the top of his head that looks like a damn pompadour, all ties together to make him look like a pompous little construction worker and I’m all for it
Crash has a great hat but time crash is just an improvement in every way for me

The party hat for Kirby's bomb ability also reminds me of table bombs! This might be a Denmark exclusive thing so I'll explain, but basically they're a common New Year's decoration; you light them at the top, resulting in a small explosion that scatters confetti and glitter around the table
I've always interpreted that Bomb's new hat was like a metaphor to a party with fireworks. Bomb Kirby's bombs explode and produce some sparkles that look like fireworks, and the party hat reminds me of those New Years celebrations with parties and fireworks. Idk, maybe I'm wrong

My favorite hat is Cupid/Angel Kirby, not only is it another nice reference but it also reminds me Terminal Montage's Kirbo. Which brings a smile to my face.
Off the top of my head my favorite hat is magic’s.
One, I have a bias to magic cus it’s one of my favorite abilities (the squeak squad version)
Two, I’m one for top hats, especially oversized ones and Magic’s top hat is just the right size on Kirby.
Three, the attacks come from the hat, pulling random bs from the magic hat.

The fact he didn't mention freeze is a reference to ice climbers causing me physical pain
they definitely should've stuck with the burning and freezing designs they also could've put a battery on kirbys head for spark or a tesla coil to further separate from the over used template maybe a sand castle to replace sand then all of those attacks would see him reaching into his hat for his attacks or just throw the hat for the sand castle and when he guards there would not only now be a castle but also a tiny flag because you cant pass up that opportunity

1:36 this is the first time I've noticed this but thats not a crown. kirby's head is on fire and theres a piece of metal on his forehead and I hate that I can't unsee that
A lot of the elemental ability hats work this way, with a tiara or diadem type accessory that's topped with the element in question. Fire, Ice, Plasma, Water for example. Even Leaf could be here but the arrangement of Leaf's... leaves... helps sell the "crown" image better.
My favorite hats are Time Crash and Chakram Cutter. As well as KPR Mirror.

What about Deep Sleep hat? It turns into a pillow and a blanket, when Kirby decides to take a nap. How comfy!
And Sleep hat too! They could leave Kirby without any headgear for that kind of an ability. But not only Sleep Kirby got a hat, the hat was redesigned and appeared in lots of cutscenes.

I want to add that the beetle hat’s design also looks like it’s inspired by ancient Egyptian animal head designs, which is really clever because scarab beetles were important symbols in ancient Egypt

Speaking of elemental crowns though, one would have to consider the Forgotten Land upgraded variants, which gives them more character, and also gets away from the issue of all elemental hats looking similar, since they now also have to differentiate within the same element too.
I actually made an ordered tier list of Kirby's hats around a year ago. It was after I ranked the abilities themselves with the hat playing no factor in where it placed and thought it would be fun to do the opposite. Funny thing is I do not agree with most of the placings today and plan to update it in the near future. I do still agree with myself on putting most of the Squeak Squad hats in S though. What the abilities lack in substance, they make up for in style.

You disliking mecha’s hat is really interesting, since it effectively seems to encapsulate everything you love about hats, I mean:
-it’s a full costume
-it’s functional for how the ability works
-and it accurately portrays mecha as in pop culture (aka gundam)
In this case it HAS to be overdesigned like that, since that’s just how gundams are. If you have problem with it, it’s probably just disliking the how gundams are designed in general, or possibly not liking it on kirby. It’s definitely not going to be a trend, but mecha does fit in terms of what it is.

Wrestler Kirby's mask is pretty much what one would expect from a luchador motif, but on principle alone it catapulted up my list of favorites as soon as I saw it. Really hope it shows up in the future, the design and extraordinary moveset are far too good to stay stuck in a spinoff.

Yes, which has more use in Star Allies because you can control cpu allowing to play as a different character while you’re still Kirby.

disagree strongly with the entire premise of the video. The hats are a glaring, rotting flaw in most of kirbys copy ability designs that render them all into funko pop procedural plastic nothings.
Copy abilities have ONLY been interesting in kirby crystal shards, which let kirby shapeshift into all sorts of different forms- you could be a fridge, or your whole body could be a bow and arrow, or you could be a snowman, etc.
The issue with not considering weapons as part of hat, is that Umbrella is ONLY the umbrella.
