Hereâs my take on the whole blades plot hole GoW4 created
Imo the blades of Chaos have sort of been the same the whole way through, I think Athena took them up after the battle with Ares and blessed them making them the blades of Athena⊠makes more sense in my opinion than Athena just having blades on hand
Then after Gow3 the Blades of Exile reverted back to the Blades of Chaos as the magical power of Greece was gone as Olympus had fallen turning the blades to their base form
That is my theory anyway, it probably has holes in it but them being the same blades makes more sense imo
(Also then Brok and Sindri were able to upgrade the blades making them more powerful so by Ragnarok theyâd probably be = to Blades of Exile)
In Fallen God it's told that the Blades of Chaos was somewhere in the "palace" of the God of War. Not to mention that it's also told that the Blades of Exile (which I'll refer as BoE) and the Blades of Chaos (which I'll refer as BoC) are 2 separate weapons and aren't connected in any way. The Blades of Athena (which I'll refer as BoA) also isn't connected to BoC. Also, during the battle against Zeus, Kratos dropped the BoE without picking it up after, probably implying that it got destroyed with all the other equipment Kratos had. The plothole in GoW4 is probably the devs didn't want to make another model for BoE just for it been shown for barely 3 seconds.

The magic attack also clears every runic attack in both Gow4 and GowR since it summons an undead spartan army phalanx and a storm of arrows that juggles better than the Spear.
Not to mention all runic attacks are BASEKIT COMBOS which is why the R2 is stronger.
The chain grab is also interrupts every heavy enemy and boss type and it's also quicker
Finally the L1 + Triangle Jump attack interrupts entire groups of enemies with one AOE
