- The good folks at VEVOR sent us a distiller for us to try our hand at making our own distilled water and such.
We use quite a bit of distilled or reverse osmosis water in our beer brewing so it was a good fit for us to be able to try our hand at making our own distilled water.
The VEVOR Distiller package is a great all in one unit. It has the main pot, a thumper unit and a condensing coil. The unit comes complete with a small submersible pump to circulate cool water around the condenser coil.
We look forward to trying this out for distilled water.

Quick back of the napkin on that setup with a 5 gal batch of 5% beer (I'm counting the thumper as a theoretical plate) you'd get around 43oz total @ 73.7% ABV on your first run. Minus the first 1 to 2 ounces in foreshots and probably 10-12 oz in the heads and tails so around a quart at something like 77% after all the cuts. Not too shabby for a beer you probably didn't like in the first place. "theoretically"
Theorically, yeah ;D ;😉
Wait just a theoretical minute... I had no idea this was theoretically possible!
@@AuburnTime maths and science, theoretically
It's a STILL so. Getting to the point...
Traditional Whiskey Thumper would be Same size, 1/2 size, or 1/3 size of the Boiler.
Anything Smaller than 1/3 size and the vapor will blow by through, just like a slobber box.
A Thumper in Whiskey Distillation can double the ABV (x2 distilled). Like A bubble/sieve plate on a column.
Thumper is AlsoKnownAs a Doubler, which can Double the output because you are adding wash to Boiler AND the Doubler.
Which results in more product output from a single volume just in the boiler.
Silicone gaskets/seals ARE 100% SAFE for distillation of: WATER AND ESSENTIAL Oils.
Caution: Do not use Silicone for Gaskets Distilling Alcohol. Not Safe.
Use only PTFE, Natural cork or Flour/Rye Paste.
>>> It's not what the HIGH ABV Alcohol does to the silicone gaskets. It's what the HIGH ABV Takes WITH IT!
More useful info in this comment than the entire video. Thank you.
Great looking hand sanitizer maker
Love how you avoid certan words. :D
why no downcomer in then thumper
I just ordered me a new 30l vevor distiller. Can’t wait to try it. Thanks for all the info you proved to us.
What is the price of this distillery?
Now you have something to throw all your bad beer into to make paint thinner.
Hmmm, I think I know what I'll make with that equipment...
Could I use to distill alcohol and produce moonshine? I mean, illegally produced spirits?
I have no idea how to make essential oils.
I Still dont know what a Still does so...😅
Heads up guys, you have a space in all of the vevor links so they aren't clickable.
Fixed it I hope
