      You can make a really nice profit if you have commerce skill at lvls 3 or 4, and register your ship from the main menu, not from the technician! Main menu registers for base price, technician registers using the elevated-by-commerce-skill value! Therefore you can easily make 20k credits selling a decent ship, more for great ships!
      I would consider tier 3 commerce a must-have enjoyment skill, because space piracy is super fun 😃

    Ganked a UC Vista III (Class C) with 1350 shields and 2950 cargo today.
    Buy a ship? Nah. Slip it out from under a crew as they're walking off. In space no one can hear you scream...but you better believe they can hear you laugh as you fly away in their ship.

    VERY IMPORTANT TIP: You do NOT have to take off to assign a ship as a home ship or register the ship! You can do this in the ship menu after sitting in the pilot seat!
    Do this, go grab the other ship and do the same. Then fast travel back to your main ship to set it back to your home ship. The other ships are now in your fleet!
    Registering a ship in the menu is also cheaper than at a ship technician so you make more profit!

    Love the video, thanks for the pointers. I was waiting too long in one spot for the bang and your method is much more efficient re. resetting via new landing spot.
    I will throw my own "secret" spot - since I have been running the Bessel 3-B mining/building base where you can get iron, alum, cobalt and nickel in one base (adaptive frames and iso mags), I decided to poke around on Bessel 3-A...
    ... and WOW for a low-level system, Bessel 3-A is a Class-C ship stealing wonderland! In particular, in only a couple hours between two sessions I have managed 2x Claymore IIs, 1x Claymore III, a Hyena II, and a large number of Ghosts, Bayonets and a bunch that I just let go because it's not worth spending the time on Class-A ships any more.
    So, Bessel 3-A is just awesome for me, not sure if others have found the same experience.

  • @RandomZeroGravity
    @RandomZeroGravity Před 9 měsíci +21

    3:24 The most efficient is to save the game before in space or after landing inside the ship. Then exit, if no bang sound, reload. Rinse and repeat ;)

    • @wilmer007
      @wilmer007 Před 9 měsíci

      Same goes for grav jumping to another planet if your trying to disable engines and board a specific ship in space. You save just before the grav jump hits 0 and then reload until you get a specific ship your aiming for. I haven't been able to do it on the best Class C ships other than a crimsom fleet wraith III.

    One time I went to a spacer ship that landed and killed all the crew, and was given the message to steal it or leave. I left because I didn’t have the piloting skill. But hours later when I did have the skill, I was able to go back to that location and get it. It stayed there. It was in my miscellaneous mission list.

      Yeah,
      I've also noticed If you're on the outside of the ship cargo door you'll fall through and out the ship. If you make it in the ship you'll hit a load screen and then be out in space. A lot of times it'll leave your companion behind 😂

      @@04AMofficial I found an amazing high level, cool looking va’ruun ship on a planet last night but when I entered the ship it immediately took off, which is fine as that’s happened plenty of times before but as soon as it got into space my game stopped playing sound and when I looked out the porthole I saw it was in a fight. The ship ended up losing I guess because my character just dropped dead and my game reloaded to the point right before I started taking off to the ship initially. I was so pissed I lost the ship but although I knew ships can leave with you on it, I was surprised it could get into a fight with me on board and even lose so my character dies. I honestly think that may have been a glitch and shouldn’t have happened with me on it because how is that any fun? It would be silly of the developers to do that.

  • @GhostHound7537
    @GhostHound7537 Před 9 měsíci +3

    There is one thing I have noticed, although I haven't thoroughly tested to check whether the results are consistent. When you land on a planet, especially one that is in a "lawless" system (not controlled by either UC or Freestar), look around with your scanner and see if there is a settlement nearby. These random, lonely settlements tend to be quite frequently targeted by spacers, who will drop out of the sky, disembark their ships, and attack.
    So if you land somewhere and don't hear a ship coming into the atmosphere right away, but your scanner picks up a settlement close by, start walking towards it - chances are as you get closer, a ship will come down for you to steal. Sometimes multiple ships too! I have had the case a couple of days ago where 3 spacer ships landed in quick succession.
    Be mindful though, these ships WILL take off after you kill their entire landing parties, so if you are here for fun and profit, better leave those civilians to fend for themselves and keep your eyes on your own prize.

    • @TheSpawnycat
      @TheSpawnycat Před 4 měsíci

      Just wanted to emphasize your last point: if you kill the whole landing party of a ship, it WILL take off immediately. I even tried sniping the last one from the landing ramp, but it wouldn't let me board the ship - I was just stuck on the ramp while the ship took off and 💥!

    Great vid! I have to disagree about the not being lucrative. Around level 20 I had commerce 3/4 unlocked and used this and other methods to start terrorizing pirates. Post level 20 contraband spawns averaged 3-4 per ship for me plus all the loot and creds. Sometimes a lot of creds. Then I’d you register the ship through your ship menu with commerce you’ll get your buy discount. Pair that with your sell bonus, the contraband and loot and your clearing 20-30k every time and possibly a mission reward. 🎉

    Different planets have different spawn pools too. You might see zealots on one, spacers on another, or crimson lance on another. This means you can target the type of ship you want. I really like zealot ships.

    Better off flying to each planet/moon in level 70+ systems. Just have to wait 30 seconds or so to see if enemies jump in, they can always be captured and generally have money if there’s no ship worth stealing. This way you’re making money and gaining experience while you’re ship farming. Once I’ve visited everything in system, I go to a neighboring system and repeat.

    With the background „File not found“ it should be possible that you can start with lvl 13. 3 Points in Piloting, 2 in Security, 1 In Fitness, 1 in Stealth, 1 in Weight Lifting and 4 in Nutrition. Piloting, Health and Ballistics are Set due to the background. Additional skill in Boost Pack Training.

    You do not have to register a ship to sell it. After you steal a ship, on the xbox, go the the ship technician and set your home ship to one that you do own. Make sure that the one you want to sell is your last ship. Then go to the line where you ask to look at ships to buy. Press Y to sell. Make sure your home ship is on the screen and press LB + A at the same time. You will get a dialog box confirming your choice to sell the unregistered ship for full price. As always, do a quicksave before you talk to the technician in case you make a mistake and sell the wrong ship.

    you know... you can register the ship from the ship menu without visiting anyone... you will need to either travel to another system, or land on a planet... (in the case of stealing the ship, take off, then land and you can register it right there...) (I've done this numerous times when capturing ships in space battles/disabling the ship, and then go from there... currently have 2 Wight's, a banshee, a Hyena and Coyote in my stable of ships...)
    That being said, I will have to give this a try.

    Register ships in your SHIP MENU and not at a service tech. Its cheaper to register and sell value is better. Im assuming by how much depends on your COMMERCE Level. Also I dont believe ships are automatically determined to land at the exact moment you land. Ive had a ship come in about 10 minutes later when I was on the Moon exploring the Apollo landing site. It might determine if a ship will land there, but how soon/when it happens might be on a random timer. Your method is probably changing that timer for best results which is always a WIN!

      @BotThot Před 9 měsíci +9

      Incorrect. Ships that land with the bounty hunters specifically from the wanted trait always give the not authorized message when attempting to pilot, regardless of piloting rank. There’s a different message when you attempt to pilot a ship but do not have a high enough piloting rank, which specifically mentions your piloting not being high enough.
      Piloting was the first skill I maxed out, thanks to the sim, and had rank 4 before encountering any wanted trait bounty hunters. Every ship that has landed on planet w/ wanted trait bounty hunters gives the not authorized message. I haven’t tried to board them when they show up in space, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was also not authorized there. Some UC ships give the same message, while the crazy UC ships such as the Vista or Autobahn never give me an issue.
      So far I’ve encountered three unique messages when unable to pilot a ship. One for piloting not being high enough. Another for when a hostile crew remain (though I’ve also piloted when a hostile Varuun crew took off after boarding and I only killed a couple before rushing the pilot seat). Then the not authorized message which is a hard stop no matter the piloting rank, status of the crew, amount of time you wait, leaving and returning to the planet, etc.
      Those wanted trait ships are trash anyways, regular landing sites are extremely common and you can farm them, with or without save scumming.

    Been doing this for several hours. Not a single ship could I even come close to stealing. Like 70% of the time there is no ship at all forcing you to reload or fast travel to a new spot. 15% of the time I see a ship but it's so far from me that I can't sprint over to it fast enough before it takes off or I can't find it. The other 15% of the time it's a guardian ship that I don't even bother trying to get because you can't access them unless you can get to the door before the NPCs leave the ship and even if you could do that you can't sell or modify the ship so I don't really care. Either this method is not fast AT ALL or I'm missing something.

    I had an $87k Hyena land today! Had a 40 power reactor on it! Made me look into this.
    I saved when i heard the boom. And could change the ship 5 or so times then it got locked as a specific ship. And even going back on the save, the plane was on the groumd after that. So it's not going to work indefinitely. But handy non the less.
    I honestly find pirating enemy ships in space to be better. On the ground from the limited time I've been trying this, it seemed half the time the ship was friendly, couldn't sit in chair, or just took off to fast.
    I also find it alot easier to get back in my ship quicker and be on my way.

    I don't think this works at all. Has this been patched out of the game since this video was posted? I been at this for 2 days now and not a single ship stolen. Doesn't seem to work. I'm on the exact planet mentioned in this video but it just doesn't work. Also, the more I try the less ships even spawn. At first it was fairly regular (like 30% of the time) but they were always too far or guardian ships. Now I rarely ever get any ship event at all and the couple times I do it's usually a guardian ship and once I got a UC ship event. I wonder if player level or any particular perks have some effect on this? I don't know but this just doesn't work.

    • @seabumbb3067
      @seabumbb3067 Před 9 měsíci +3

      Register the ship in your inventory, as others have said, the the sell value is much better. I ran an eight hour test of stealing ships vs outpost farming to see how much better outposts really are (they are significantly better). However, the outpost farming is boring! Boring! Jacking ships in space or on ground is fun. No sneaking - shoot, kill, loot, fly. Then register in the inventory, go sell. I managed to make over 1,000,000 credits in eight hours. I am pretty high level, so I try to only farm Class C, type III ships. I can average one jack and sell about every 12 minutes - 5 an hour. So, stealing ships can net a profit. Do not forget, most of these higher level ships have epic and legendary gear to sell, as well as credits in the Captain's safe (usually about 3-5K).
      Yes, farming is vastly more profitable. Jacking ships is vastly more fun. I can come home from work and spend an hour a day jacking ships and feel okay about spending time gaming. I farm at an Outpost and feel like, "why?" If I can figure out how, I might do a "jacking ships live stream" for eight hours just to show that it is a fine way to level up and get credits. It just comes down to what you enjoy in the game.
