Totally agree 😂
No, you are actually dumb. That's why it looks more realistic for you.
Are YOU really so stupid that you dont understand he/she commented that to tell him that he did a nice job?🤨🤔I hope you ask yourself. 🙄😠
@@coltzi oh that emojis were to let you understand what i mean at least a little because i was afraid you would not understand. My bedroom: You will have a hard time.
hahahahahaha
My bedroom: So you have chosen death!

that joke was fucking terrible
This video taught me something pretty cool:
Everything is made out of simple shapes.
and most materials do NOT need image textures
pretty much anything can be done with procedural textures and materials.
Shapes? I literally make everything out of vertices!
@Definitely, Mhm Yes
@@MapleTree0 just a stretched noise texture layered with other noise textures, softwood is harder than hardwood because of the knots

It looked realistic till you processed in luminar. After that the colours looked washed out.
this
facts looked better before.
yep looked real before, then after it just looked "too real"..
+1 but still cool work , yellowish light from original missing in final render scene
i think he was going for a bit of a color grade, not everyones cup of tea.
This was one of the very first things I did in Blender. Never learned 3D but I knew my room was basic enough to start with that. I think it turned out acceptable
I'm in the same boat rn
When i noticed that you just started explaining after showing the outcome at the beginning, i instantly pressed like. This is how tutorials should be. No 5 minute intro while explaining whats actually already in the title, just straight into action. Love it!
15:03 *shows the recreated room in full hd* *then shows the real photo* and tells you sry for bad quality, yup 2020 is here...
There are so many details in my bedroom it would take years to reproduce :'-(
Just dumb it down and ignore some of the more intricate crazy details. As you can see on mine, I did that and it just looks cleaner if anything!
Or you just need to download them...
@@victorcelis2442 I think its very boring when you download models, I think its more fun if you make the models yourself
i just said basically the same things before looking at the other comments here, josh obviously has an orderly life yeah lol
@@santicheeks1106 I (partially) agree, but sometimes you'll learn things a lot slower modeling everything. I tend to only model things that are very unique or I don't think I can model to begin with - I can use that as a modeling exercise. I'd recommend watching Blender Guru's video on Why you can't be a cheap artist. Lots of inspiration in there!
The one thing I can take my eye off in the final render is the scale of that chair, it looks like a kids chair haha! When you compare it to the size of the PC then the scale just looks way off! Apart from that good job :)
Thank you! Lots of people agree as a general consensus there haha
thats what i was about to comment lol. That chair f'd up
And the desk's height/size is off as well
I left traditional teaching very quickly when I was still in school precisely because I did not find it fun. I focused on what I liked very young, but it is a luxury sport; for example I understood the interest of trigonometry 28 years after my first lessons on the subject because I liked flying planes ... I am very close to your way of thinking that one could baptize "the joyful difficulty" ! A new step in Blender and for some perhaps even in existence ... Thank you for the advice which we should remember the vital importance every day ! After all it could be something like an Open Source way of thinking ?
Pro tip for making it easy for everyone:
.
..
...
1. Get your bedroom emptied out.
2. Take a picture as shown in the tutorial.
3. Make a box room as shown in the tutorial.
Render scene and named it "My Bedroom."
Now tell people about this video and say you've also successfully recreated your bedroom in blender.
Concerning the denoising in rendering, you should use the Denoising Node in the Compositor instead of that crappy denoising checkbox at the bottom. Those are introduced in blender 2.8 and is proven to work better on even lower amount samples in the render
Thanks! I wasn’t aware of that.
@A person who never keeps mouth shut but then your lighting accuracy is lost completely
Yeah I started off on my blender journey by watching a CZcams video on how to create a frosted doughnut back in the day. It taught me the basics but I soon got bored. I had created a character in 2D and thought what the heck. I'm gonna make him 3D. I watched more advanced tutorials and was able to create Pal 5 in 3D who features in my profile. I recreated the DELOREAN and made a short clip. I've tried to make more complex scenes but need desperately to upgrade my computer. Anyways you can have real blast with Blender and its improving all the time. There are plenty of great videos out there and yours is one great example. Thank you for the tips. I'm always learning.
That's awesome man! Thanks for sharing your story. It's always fun focusing on little projects you enjoy rather than trying to master a specific area off the bat :)

isn't that what most of us do in real life anyways tho?
@@dylanking000archive I'd rather not, for me, using assets of someone else really makes me feel shame, because I'm using someone else's work to do mine and I feel that's not right. I'd rather just make my own models.
@@carlosbigbrain4866 the assests are literally made to be used. That's like saying you don't like buying fruit from the grocery store because someone else went through the effort of growing it.
This idea has been in my mind for so long, but I never felt motivated enough to actually do it. Like you, I've left blender and 3d modeling in general for a couple of years, not because I felt it was hard to do, but because I lacked motivation in doing almost anything 3D related and also I've never been able to actually criticize my works, as I tend to discard everything. You made me see how easy and fun this project could be, and I'm going to try it on my own. Thank you!
Nice work, btw :)
Awesome man! Super glad that message helps. Always try something fun and it won’t feel like work at all. Good luck!
I really agree with that message at the end. Do what is fun for you or you'll quit. Fun also helped me learn modeling and some game modding.
Absolutely!
holy, the amount of skill some people have is uncanny, hope you never lose that motivation you talked about it’d be a real loss
Thanks man, I am always motivated to work harder and harder and learn every day!
Just a suggestion, to decrease render times, using fewer light bounces helps a lot. By default, the max is set to 12, which is way too high. You usually don't lose image quality by going as low as 5 in some cases, but I find 6-7 to be the sweet spot. If you want to go further, it is better to have higher values for things like transmission, but lower ones for things like diffuse.
Good note! Thank you
That part where you talk about demotivation and having fun modelling things you like *spoke* to me. I almost quit after taking Blender Guru's donut tutorial becuase I didnt come to Blender to model food. As soon as I made something I was actually proud of and cared about I began having alot more fun modelling.
I just subbed and turn the bell notifications on cause I fell like I will learn a lot with your vids to get my blender skills even better :)

Thanks you Ben! Patience and persistence is key.
**looks around to his mess that passes as a bedroom**
yeah... not happening
I started doing my room before seeing this video and I can say that I worked waaaaaay harder than this, spent a lot of time modeling highly detailed objects like my audio interface, and in the end it looks worse than yours ..
But I had a lot of fun doing it, and I learned so much in the process, so I can only encourage everyone to give it a try, whether you do it the hard way or the smart way ;)
3:38 "variation and distortion" indeed!
Haha careful with those random offsets :P
Everybody gangsta till the painting start exploding
I made my bedroom in Blender a week before I saw this. I spent about 6 hours trying to get my extremely complex wallpaper seamless and flat-shaded (I had brighter light spots and darker light spots on the photos). Well now it’s done!
Also, I took the long, architect-like road to making it all by measuring every single length, angle and thickness of the room and its objects.
Yeah although fSpy isn’t dimensionally accurate, it doesn’t need to be if you’re just doing a render. I rarely model interiors based solely off dimensions unless it’s specifically requested. Clients don’t care if they’re just receiving a render and not an actual scene.
Just got your courses on udemy, thank you so much for helping me transition to blender!
Thank you Josh! Appreciate the support :)

Welcome brother 😊
"yeah for every object that isnt a stretched cube, just download it off the internet."
The only things I downloaded were the blankets, keyboard and mouse because they would’ve been a waste of my creative time spending extra hours to make from scratch. Filler items such as those obtained from Poliigon are exactly that: filler items. Once again, a waste of time. Everything else I modeled myself (or modeled myself at some point, like the chair which I modeled for a different scene and imported into this one).
That's why people use SketchUp though... A lot of premade objects
#1 success tip for ANYTHING to do with programming
Ok but how to rotate the cube ?

hey man your words at the end about doing what you enjoy and not getting burned out are true to the fullest! good video brother keep up the good work!
I'm a virtual character, SO now I can Have My own Room
I totally agree with the advice at the end. I used to be like that, burn out quickly, but now that i read about the 50/50 rule in drawabox course i fell much better. What does it mean is that 50% of your time you allocate for an activity you exercises, follow tutorials and the other 50% you just do what you really enjoy
That’s a good perspective!
So nobody is gonna mention the fat gaming chair becoming a baby chair
These fun tutorials are one if the reasons I love channels like yours and Ducky 3D. While I personally work more within the EEVEE engine (HSC student trying to get to a full body animation to turn in, cycles is a bit slow... I say despite having a cycles rendered 4 minute animation thing on my channel, it’s basic though), it’s tutorials like these that reinvigorate my love for 3D modelling and animation. While my room is a bit too much of a mess to follow along, I’ll definitely be using it to model one of the other rooms in the house, might even be very useful in the future. Keep being awesome!
Awesome man! I really appreciate your support. I can't stand rendering in Cycles, takes too long and Eevee has a small tradeoff result wise with an extra time cut so I'm willing to take a small quality loss for that reason :)
When you want to show your room to your friend very much, but you have very bad camera.

A little tip, you can also take a video and track points around the scene using Blender's tracking feature in order to compile several shots in 3D space. This will help if you want to accurately model several rooms or an awkwardly shaped one.
I had a little project a while back trying to transform my room . I used blender to plan everything. My room is nowhere near rectangular. It's like if the person putting the walls was drunk or something. Everything is so odd.
Oh jeez that sounds annoying to perspective match. Box-shaped rooms are the way to go
Try sketchup for that bro its very good to handel odd things.

i only clicked on this because im curious, youtube leads you some crazy places. however this is giving me PTSD of my school project to design a toy train in auto cad then re-create it IRL in woodworking. but i pretty much understand all the terms you are using and what is going on in the viewport. that was 14 years ago and its still pertinent, if not more important with 3D printers and Game development becoming more normalised. Good video! you earned a sub!
Cheers man! Yeah I remember my CAD days, it is what got me into Blender :)
the postprocessing made it look really bad and noisy
One thing that stood out to me was the chair being exceptionally small.
I LOVE the amount of effort this took, its fairly complicated, and very well done, but that was my one critique, your scale on your chair looks like almost half the size as it should be compared to everything else in the scene
Yeah a lot of people said the same thing. I think the camera focal length added to that effect as well. I definitely could've made it bigger. Thanks for the feedback!
So, what I got out of this video was "just download everything."
I love the lofi song and the video idea!!
Now you can navigate your room in VR without actually getting up! Man, the future is exciting.

Thank you for making this video! And yes I agree with you at the end: Projects in Blender are much better if you truly enjoy doing them!
One project I'm doing has led me to basic modeling, then to animation, lighting, and now creating reference points.
I was obviously frustrated in the beginning, but I still find it enjoyable to do because I liked and wanted to make cool stuff in Blender. It was all part of the learning process.
So yeah, learning new things can be both fun, challenging, and pull your hair out, but as long as you're willing to put up with that it's all that matters.
Blender is probably the greatest software in history
youre speaking the truth at the end of the video.. I quit because I was not having fun.. but I am going back because I love 3d modeling

I found another way...
with the LIDAR Camera of the iPhone or iPad Pro versions you can scan everything and extract the Textures.
Afterwards you can Export the scan as .OBJ and import it into Blender.
Now you have a 3D reference to model.
It is really awesome.
You can search tutorials on CZcams. I believe Ian Hubert also mentioned this method in one of his videos.

Good luck man! Don’t get discouraged if everything feels overwhelming; it’s perfectly normal since there is quite a lot to learn. Work on things within your skill level, expand, watch tutorials, and you’ll get better. Also, don’t feel like you have to learn everything. Focus on which aspect of 3D art you enjoy and do that. I’m 7 years in to Blender and barely touch animation, for example. Good luck :-)
