    Great Video! I did this on my 168,000mi. Accord and only took me about 25 minutes. I used a 2x4 pressed up against the seat to press the gas pedal while doing this procedure and when I was all done, the car idled perfectly. No more drone or heavy vibration in the interior and it starts up slightly faster now. I didn’t think a little bit of carbon cleanup would make a difference, but I was so wrong. 😂 going strong at 168,000 miles, wish to get to 200,000 *cross my fingers*

    I've recently SEMI-taken off the throttle body of my Accord and cleanned it, and I found the 2 joints to be carboned up the most. For the first time I removed the 4 screws on the throttle to take off the whole piece, but I was stuck when I found that the 2 coolant hoses are impossible for me to disconnect🥲. So I did the cleanning job with the piece inside the engine bay 😅. What I learned this time is that pushing the plate when the connector is off will not damage the piece. You just need to be slow and gentle.

    • @zkmoonea
      @zkmoonea Před 4 měsíci

      And I finally found the culprit that caused my car to be powerless to accelerate. It was NOT the throttle body, or the fuel pump, or any of the mass air flow, intake manifold absolute, air fuel ratio and EVAP purge. It was the canister. I should not have used Marvel Mystery Oil. The car was all fine but slow to accelerate after 70km/h.

    Great job! Clear pics, simple instructions and professionally done. I took care of my 2014EX in about 25 minutes. Even carefully cleaned the edges of the plate as there was some buildup there as well. And that included cleaning out the air filter housing. I used a shovel turned upside down wedged against the Driver seat to hold the accelerator pedal down. The car started up quicker than normal. I’ve had some delay and I’m thinking maybe because the plates aren’t opening quick enough could’ve caused the delay. What triggered this “fix” is an FCW system failure and the car not able to start unless I wait for a while or reset the codes. Maybe this fix solves two issues! Thank you very much!

If it's super dirty, ECU cannot adjust and will trip a CEL. Either way, it is best to reset the tb value with a scantool like I show in the other video after cleaning the tb.

You let your car drink the cleaner through a straw (basically), let it digest, then force the crud out the tailpipes by driving it. Takes about an hour. I did this for the first time at 100k, so it stalled from the effort initially. After a couple restarts, with the carbon deposits gone, it's insanely smooth. I've only ever driven older used cars, so to have it be this smooth is beyond what I thought possible.

      I recommend using some valve cleaner. My go to is the Berryman branded one. I did it at 100k, and the amount of carbon being cleaned off caused the engine to initially stall getting out of the driveway. Runs much smoother now. Also, consider an A/C recharge. The fluid leaks out over the years, and the compressor needs the oil change.
      You might want to take a whiff of the transmission fluid, especially if it's a CVT. Aside from changing the oil (don't trust the previous owner), you should verify that's in good condition. If it has a burnt smell, replace it. Mine smelled like manure when I changed it (couldn't find anything about that when I googled, maybe I'm special) and the car put up a maintenance code for the fluid shortly after I did so. As far as I'm aware, my car is on the original transmission with no issues. YMMV, but I think the bad rap for CVTs came from early Nissan CVTs; they had terrible quality control.
      The maintenance minder system is entirely mileage based, so as a side note it can't track brake fluid. Obviously, if you're in a dusty environment like I am, you can also disregard the normal air filter change interval. Eyeball it. Keep it clean and change your fluids on time.
      This engine is actually a common swap-in for enthusiasts modding other cars. It's known for its modding potential and reliability. If you go that route, be aware that the vendors who do work with CVT-equipped Accords recommend a 250 HP limit for the CVT. That puts turbo builds out of the question if you're running the CVT like I am.

      As someone mentioned about the transmission oil, for me, the maintenance minder has alerted me for this service approx. every 45K miles. I have followed that and am currently at 325K miles on my '13 Accord 2.4L with my CVT running pretty smooth still. I would also like to mention, that I just recently replaced my high pressure fuel pump and had removed the air duct like this video. I did not think about cleaning the throttle body while I had access, and my car is still running fine. So, rest assured that your car will probably be fine for a while without doing this cleaning yet. If you get some rough idles, stalling, etc., then give it a try.

      Depends how dirty it was before. If the CEL doesn't come on right away, then it's learning on its own. If it does, then it can't, it can but can take a while like a week or two of driving.

      My car started up right away and idled perfectly and this was in a car with 168,000 miles where the throttle body had never been cleaned before. I don’t know why some people are having issues. Could be user error with installing the boot or vacuum line.
