When I set the controls in desktop mode, they don't apply in game mode. In game mode, docking and handheld mode overlap with the control pad button at the bottom, so I can't get to it. So I can't adjust the control pad at the bottom in gaming mode. What can I do to solve the problem? I ultimately want to start Suyu in gaming mode. Any helpful answer is appreciated.
@@angelicplay3419 I have a dock and monitor so I can see it. People in comments say you can switch the screen to portrait mode to see the bottom. In gaming mode you need to adjust controls again as it might be called controller_neptune in gaming mode whereas desktop mode it's steam virtual gamepad.

you can be sure that suyu/yuzu is almost everywhere better atleast in sight of performance, but somehow a lot of games I tested on yuzu that wasn't working like not booting up or crashing in loadingscreen, worked on ryujinx with some performance issues but they worked ! (those are just nmy personal experiences) a good comparision is Zelda Totk and Super Mario Wonder , im running it on ryu on my steamdeck with max 20 fps, but with yuzu you are able to reach 45. But this is a unique thing on Totk to be fair. In Super Mario Wonder (raw without mods or updates), I could experience crashes on Yuzu where a high dose of Interaction happens (playing with 4 Controllers on a TV) while I had just fps drops at the exact same situation on ryujinx.
I (i am stupid) spent 3 days trying to get an emulator to run on my new deck (off and on, i was frustrated). I felt stupid, I've never used linux, I've never emulated anything more complex than a gameboy. And when I FINALLY get a game to open, I find a whole ass tutorial (a very good one at that) when I look for a solution on how to get my damn buttons to work on suyu in desktop mode. Anyway, thanks, 12/10 now I get to delete everything and topple my fragile jenga tower of poorly installed mods to do it the right way. lol Wish me luck~

Suyu does not allow you to create a shortcut of the game on the steam deck desktop. It throws an error. I used your guide to add Suyu to Emu Deck and of course it worked, but when adding one game to the Steam database, there are only problems. Is it possible to fix shortcut creation in Suyu?
I used steam rom manager to create the steam shortcuts, shown in this video. Then just launch the game from gaming mode with the shortcuts. I find the best way is to create a new parser rather than editing existing parsers.

Hi! I go to use Suyu today and adding a new game and it keeps giving me an error saying that my keys are missing. I go to download latest ones and it still wont work. App will also fail to add the keys. Says "decryption keys failed to initiate. Check that your dumping tools are up to date and re-dump the keys." Not sure what to do here

@@stevenherd you're mistaken, when I made this video there wasn't a build online but since then you can just download a build online, no need to compile. Also suyu emulator is already dead now. So it's not going to get updated anytime soon.
I tried to compile it myself with the code but failed. So I got a friend to do it, my friend could've snuck some malware in it. But seriously I didn't even read the code fully. 🤣

You're supposed to dump your own with your own modded switch but it's also fairly easy to find online, that's why Nintendo is so against these emulators.
After following your tutorial, then press "Parse", it shows, Please shutdown Steam if it is running, but other default parser no such issue. Any thought ?
@@GrownUpGamingGUG In fact, Steam shouldn't be running because I also have the default yuzu parser open. The yuzu parser can work, but the custom suyu doesn't, which is what I find strange.

Followed your guide but got error when launching any switch games in game mode. How do I fix this error? "The rom format is not supported" The games run on Suyu without problems in desktop mode
@@GrownUpGamingGUG I didn't backup the game wrong, it is NSP file.. the game file works on the real switch and also when running the Suyu emulator directly in gamemode or desktop mode.. followed your guide exactly but when directly launching the game in game mode I get that error.
Above you say it works on switch, steam deck desktop mode and gaming mode. But at the end you say you get error on gaming mode? All games or just one game?
@@GrownUpGamingGUG Thanks for continuing trying to help me.. However I have managed to solve it myself , it is nothing to do with the filename. I made mistake in steam rom manager step.. I used the original Nintendo switch (Yuzu) parser and just renamed it to the Nintendo Switch (Suyu) and also located the correct Suyu appimage + correct rom location.. However doing this will result in the error mentioned. I rewatched your video again, and I now realized I needed to click Create Parser and followed your steps.. Also instead of browsing for the roms directory like in your video, I think it is better to use the original emudeck Nintendo switch (Yuzu) parse setting instead.. ie. ROMS directory = ${romsdirglobal}/switch instead using the direct link rom path e.g /run/media/deck/948... That way, if you ever want to use the original Nintendo switch (Yuzu) in emudeck or along with the Suyu, it will use the same roms directory path etc.. Also I found out you can do preview > parse > add to steam in the Classic theme mode as well (if people want to save time and not need change the theme back to Emudeck) Thanks for the video, it was useful.

For me the console keys do not work when I launch a game from the Steam OS, I have the impression that only the keyboard mode is recognized despite the correct setting in the suyu options. On the other hand, with a direct launch in suyu, it works well. Anyone have a solution? THANKS
@@GrownUpGamingGUG Yes that's it, in desktop mode with gamepad mode it works but in gaming mode the controller does not respond as if it did not recognize the gamepad
go to the input settings in gaming mode. sometimes it's different. for me, on desktop mode the input is called steam gamepad and in gaming mode it's controller_neptune.

i don't think you can use windows to compile a linux program. you can run linux inside windows and then compile. that's my understanding. not sure if i'm 100% correct.

You don't need to compile anymore. Suyu is already available as a standalone file via their website.

I don't think you need to do anything to see an appimage. Maybe just download directly with steam deck.

The problem should be the parser settings in steam rom manager. You need to double check what happened there.

It's the same as yuzu as it is yuzu reskinned currently.

Steam should have been shut down when you launched steam rom manager. Why is it still open?

the game file works on the real switch and also when running the Suyu emulator directly in gamemode or desktop mode..
followed your guide exactly but when directly launching the game in game mode I get that error.
Above you say it works on switch, steam deck desktop mode and gaming mode. But at the end you say you get error on gaming mode? All games or just one game?

However I have managed to solve it myself , it is nothing to do with the filename.
I made mistake in steam rom manager step..
I used the original Nintendo switch (Yuzu) parser and just renamed it to the Nintendo Switch (Suyu)
and also located the correct Suyu appimage + correct rom location..
However doing this will result in the error mentioned.
I rewatched your video again, and I now realized I needed to click Create Parser
and followed your steps..
Also instead of browsing for the roms directory like in your video,
I think it is better to use the original emudeck Nintendo switch (Yuzu) parse setting instead..
ie. ROMS directory = ${romsdirglobal}/switch
instead using the direct link rom path e.g /run/media/deck/948...
That way, if you ever want to use the original Nintendo switch (Yuzu) in emudeck or along with the Suyu,
it will use the same roms directory path etc..
Also I found out you can do preview > parse > add to steam in the Classic theme mode as well (if people want to save time and not need change the theme back to Emudeck)

You need TegraExplorer on your modded switch to dump the firmware.

I’m trying to do this but when I get the same to show up on steam it gives me the logo and then boots me out of the game. Any help?
Make sure the keys, firmware and game files are in the right location. That's all there is for emulators.
@@GrownUpGamingGUG they are what’s weird is I can play them in Desktop but not in Steam OS which is a bit inconvenient to keep going back and forth between desktop and game mode.
you can play on steamos desktop mode? is that right? and not steamos gaming mode? how are you launching the games in desktop mode? through steam or just loading the emulator? maybe the issue is the shortcuts created by steam rom manager. you need to check the settings.
@@GrownUpGamingGUG I am not able to play in big picture mode on desktop, when I tried that it’s just an infinite loading screen. I’m able to play it through the emulator itself without steamOS.

For me the console keys do not work when I launch a game from the Steam OS, I have the impression that only the keyboard mode is recognized despite the correct setting in the suyu options. On the other hand, with a direct launch in suyu, it works well. Anyone have a solution? THANKS

@@GrownUpGamingGUG Yes that's it, in desktop mode with gamepad mode it works but in gaming mode the controller does not respond as if it did not recognize the gamepad
go to the input settings in gaming mode. sometimes it's different. for me, on desktop mode the input is called steam gamepad and in gaming mode it's controller_neptune.

Use cemu for botw and you can still get yuzu if you look hard enough.

There's a flatpak version now. It should automatically update. If you are using this appimage, you need to do it manually now.

Yes I just copy them over.

@@ricb9 ctrl + c and ctrl + p 😂 jokes aside, you need to locate the save locations. Right click the game in the emulator and select save location.

There's a few ways to get it now. Compile yourself, get the flatpak or get the app image.

i don't think you can use windows to compile a linux program. you can run linux inside windows and then compile. that's my understanding. not sure if i'm 100% correct.

Depends on the game. I never stick to one emulator.
