I had an over inflated football thrown as hard as someone could throw, and it hit my pinky finger in a weird way, and it hurt for days. It was also really bruised but it didn't seem broken.
Mr science here and thats called a jammed finger. You finger was compressed into your hand which tore the soft tissue. The weird feeling and the somewhat lack of movement was swelling. If you ever get your finger jammed keep moving regardless of how mudck it hurts, this will lessen the swelling and cause it to heal faster. Hope this helps.

When shooting an over inflated ball the ball has a lower chance to drop back in and also it has better wind restrictions so the ball will fly better and feel lighter when shooting. An under inflated basketball you cannot rely on layups most of the times and for the shooting you have to know that when the basketball hits a surface it dents in a bit or alot. So when you shoot it hits the rim n creates a dent where the contact between the ball and the rim is. Also causing the ball to loose rotation and momentum causing you to make anything if you trow it at the backboard or trow it straight up.

I’ve had a very very long history of finger jams with over inflated basketballs but it’s frustrating to dribble with under inflated sometimes on rugged concrete and can make for easy steals or losing the basketball but honestly I’d take that over the finger jams and iron misses any day 😂😅
