  • Today I will show you exactly how to make a wire figure with this step by step figure sculpture tutorial! This guided video focuses on wire sculpting for beginners and how to make a wire action figure. This is my all time favorite high school wire lesson and the results are always fantastic! I will show you how to make a wire sculpture step by step focusing on a human proportion figure sculpture.

    nice video thanks.. when your bulking out the skeleton did you mean to go straight from the wrist to the shoulder, bypassing the elbow.. thanks :)

      I sometimes make the wrist first and the loop the shoulder on the way back up! Seems like I do it slightly different every time 🤣🤣

    love your stuff! are these about a foot long? I'm debating having them measure everything to make sure they get the proportions right-how did you get them to create accurate proportions?

      Thank you so much! They are a variety of sizes, but mostly close to a foot! So we use the head as a unit of measurement, so each one will follow their own proportions. You could totally give your students a standard size to work with, which would help eliminate the guesswork 💛

    It would be nice to have measurements because I got to a point where I finished 1 leg and I had no wire left.

      I have my students about three feet to start with, but we didn’t use exact measurements. We added wire as needed. A formula would solve any of the guess work for sure!

    Should I make my armature this way if I want to sculpt a ballerina on one toe( on blocks), using air dry clay?

      You can do that, you just won’t need as much wire! One of my students just tried that out too.

      I am a terrible teacher and did not keep track. I usually buy about five 14 gauge aluminum wire spools per class per semester.

      12! I prefer a slightly thinner gauge, but I ran with what I had in stock. ❤️

    I already do this since a very young age but instead of metal wires I played with wires found in internet cables there pretty flimsy barely could stand on their own but I didn't care I made a full lore out of it idk what their names were overall I am weird
