Over the years i've seen more than my share of penalties where the penalized was baited into it or the offended one put on an Oscar-like performance, but Graham is 6 yds away and he had enough time to change direction
Everybody's saying it was stupid by Brandon Graham but think about this. 1. It was so unexpected that the refs didn't even realize what had happened. 2. It was a stupid play by the QB to not try to get the first down and opt to give the ball back to philly. 3. You play until the whistle, and by the time the whistle blew, BG hat under a second to pull back and he still managed to do that and lessen the impact substantially. 4. The QB 100% flopped, if he were to take a true shot like that from BG, well he is at the very least not going to get up that fast to celebrate with the type of energy he had.
I usually get tired of the people that talk about how "NFL players are so soft now" and think that concussions are no big deal. That said, I think this rule makes it extremely difficult on the defenders. First, they have to change their mentality from college (down is down) to NFL (defense has to touch them to be down). Then they have to remember that a QB can give himself up and you can't touch him. Then in a split second, you have to register that the QB's knee did in fact touch the ground and he didn't try a Kenny Pickett. If he threw him to the ground, it would be one thing, but that was not a violent tackle. In fact, I think they both softened the tackle when they realized what was happening. And yes, I know Graham has been in the league for years.
Exactly. This should NOT have been a flag. Just in no universe is this actually a penalty. I agree if he actually HIT him, then by all means throw a flag. But they literally hugged him. He just flopped. We don’t throw flags on flops. Smfh
When my Vikings played the Commaders idk what it is I just hate Heineke the whole game he just gave me prick vibes especially when he celebrated the TD that the ref got in the way now I’m seeing this…
I know it's a year late, but did you see us playing him in Atlanta this season and he went all hype and pump about handing the Ball of to his RBs, acting like he did something? lol
I’m an Eagles fan and I know Heineke isn’t soft… Graham made a mistake and he just did what he needed to to win…. Graham just needed to TOUCH him.. not slide and make a whole tackle… i know it’s disheartening but… just run past and touch him… why run straight at him…
Ugh, this felt a little dirty. Maybe it was the celebration after, that seemed like he’d just worked the system? People say head-to-head but I didn’t detect any. All in all it looked like they slowed up and we’re pretty gentle, despite QB’s flop. The whistle was a split second before contact, but if a QB knee kills the play on its own I guess they should have avoided. Still, I wouldn’t be too proud of that - but that’s me.
Maybe not but if they let this one go. The next one that could be worse will have to be too. He's down, whistle is blown, Graham doesn't change direction or anything just falls into a qb who is downed on the last play, a 300lb man running into a 190 lb man his Is on the ground, it could've been a lot worse had he hit a little harder, hienicke was folded just not hurt
I get that. It looked more like a the two hand tap to establish contact on a downed player but wasn't necessary seeing as his teammate already handled it.
the eagles didn't lose on a penalty. They were already losing before this play... they lost because they scored less points than the commanders in the first 58 minutes. you should change the title to this video
Wasn’t to the head, wasn’t late because it wasn’t a hit. He literally hugged him to stop his motion, Heineke just flopped. The fact people are ok with this flag not only being thrown on a flop, but literally the game ending on a flop, is insane. Eagles would have won if it weren’t for those 3 or 4 dog shit calls
Bad call. Bad look. This is why I say they are not football players….they are…quarterbacks. Brother flopped like Lebron. QB’s get more protection than kickers. Still nice win by the Commanders. O-line and run game was fantastic.
He didn’t flop like Lebron, he made a high football IQ decision, which wasn’t to allow for the penalty, the penalty was because of Graham mental error that he owned up to. Situationally, if there’s no one open, he has to take a sack. He cannot throw the ball away here because it will give the eagles more time, or force them to use their last timeout. That’s just smart football, the penalty was the cherry on top.
It was late and it was dumb. Reddick was a yard and a half away and was able to stop and just touch him. Graham was 3-4 steps away and hit him. Doesn't matter whether it was a hard or not, it was against the rules after the QB took a knee.

Ref didn’t have enough time to blow the whistle though 🧐

Brandon Graham paid $749 MILLION/year to make bonehead plays like this
Alittle head hunting bonus on top 🥴
@@draftmagicagain1000 - Yup, because the MILLIONS he gets for playing a kid's game just isn't enough.
EAGLES gave up 38 points...with their amazing defense...that's why they lost. They scored 35 points....you HAVE to win that game.
Honestly if Jalen never would've been injured, this would've been our only loss

guess it's a penalty. did try to pull up at the end
Bullshit call but this didn't cost us the game. The way the Eagles played that entire night cost them the game.

What a boneheaded play by Graham.

So I guess intentional grounding is illegal but this isn’t. Alright?

I'm not a fan of this penalty. Wasn't a dirty play or anything. But I'm not mad if this call went in favor of my team. Just touch him bro.
what the hell, the guy was clearly fishing for a penalty
hes literally on a knee and graham has plenty of time to restrain himself

Late and to the head. Easy call.

I didn’t like the call either but the qb gave himself up and it was clearly a late hit. Brandon Graham is a veteran he should know better

Bad call end of story
Hieneke is soft asf for this one!

@@robertnester it wasn’t a hit it was a good sell by Heinicke. But if you watched the game the refs botched flags all night. Including that one

Commanders are a joke... Heineke literally celebrating because the refs bailed him out
A late hit penalty is a bail out?
Eagles made a mistake and got a penalty.
Celebrating because he just beat an undefeated division rival. He made a smart decision and his opponent made a stupid mistake
Heinecke played like shit the whole game and acts like he’s god LOL, eagles had 10 chances to win this game
