  • For those of you who are looking into getting in this game, here are a few gems to keep in your back pocket to understand the cost to operate in the hotshot trucking industry. It's not just fuel, insurance, and maintenance and supplies; there will be other costs involved, annually, monthly and day-to-day. Hopefully this helps give newcomers further insight into the life of a hotshot trucker! For the veterans, comment down below any other expenses I am missing!

    Brother you are obviously a hard worker and for that I give you much respect because that’s how we make it in life. I’m not in your business but I have a business mind and have work for myself since 2008 and after watching probably 100 hot shot videos that’s got to be a very tough business. If you don’t do as much maintenance work yourself on the truck and trailer you just hurting yourself. The biggest issue I have is how much these trucks cost and how fast you can run up the mileage.

      it def can be tough at times, but tbh man i just love what i do; there are seasons where nothing really is going wrong which a lot of ppl dont think about / see either; i think ppl buy new bc less chance of the "old truck stuff" going wrong so they can just ride and not think twice which is mainly the case, but then u have a payment/recalls maybe/the parts shortages post covid; used vehicles u just take more if a risk but hey, when u own ur truck, it's easier to bear; to each their own 🤷🏾‍♂️

    Love the high energy my boy. I’ve recently had my 6.0 motor rebuild and bulletproof around 215,000 and now currently almost 300,000. I use hotshots secret products stiction eliminater and EDT. It’s been working great for me. I haul cars all through Florida but those small expenses do hit you.

    Those tolls really do hit your pockets and they add up! Last year I paid just over 3k in tolls, 3k in tires, and one thing that no one mentions is storage lot for your trailer! That alone runs close to 200$ a month but you gotta have it or risk getting ticketed or towed! 😮‍💨

    One thing I never hear anyone in trucking talk about as an alternative for showers is a gym membership. Planet Fitness Black Card membership is like $25/month and you get to work out at any location AND get your shower in. That's what I plan on using. No wait, no $16/shower, etc. Even if you ONLY use it for the shower, it's cheaper after your first truck stop shower.

Basically average conditions. 205-208 ok the coolant; Oil no more than 210/212; Trans @ 160-167; EGTs @ 800-1000; this is all with an engine load of like 40-45%. Just curious, I’ve never pulled a gooseneck trailer but why does everyone put the load over the axels only on goosenecks? Does sway even happen with goosenecks?

    • @hotshotwithme
      @hotshotwithme  Před 4 měsíci +2

      ive never experienced sway with my gooseneck, and to answer ur axle question as simply as i can; each axle from the front of your truck/tractor to the end of your trailer has a certain amt of weight it can handle; your trailer axles are designed to carry far more weight than a truck can, so the heavier the load, the more towards the rear axles you want it to not overload your trucks rear end; you want your trailer to hold the weight, not ur truck; overall its all about balancing the whole system out (for example, too much weight on the tail end of your trailer past the axles will have u pulling an anchor / jerking the mess out of you bc the trailer will be pulling up on the truck)
