Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks / Conductor: Manfred Honeck - Auta a dopravní prostředky
Out of sheer depression and agony doth cometh the most beautiful of compositions!
This piece just keeps getting better and better each second it passes.
GORGEOUS, one of the best live versions I've heard on CZcams by far.
try andre rieu maastricht
I just adore the contrast between the quieter soli sections and the lush string tutti ones! Such richness!
Bravo, Schostakowitsch!

Its actually Shostakovich
@@arniepaks different languages
@@marcoslays well yeah but nationally his name is rightly spelled different
@@arniepaks he was russian so basically "shostakovich" is wrong too
Undoubtedly, but, definitely, all original musical instruments, playing together, in perfect harmony.
This orchestra's performance is nothing short of amazing
This comfort calms the heart of humanity
Beautiful conducting !!!!!!!!!!!
I love this session !!!!!!!!
I would like to go to Munchen to enjoy Munich Orchestra as possible with Mr.Conductor: Manfred Honeck !
I totally agree!
Recordings are a wonderful thing, and I would never want to be without them. But they can limit our receptivity. I speak as a musician. So, long live the infinite variety of live performance!
For example, a number of comments here refer to this performance being too fast; and several of them reference the fact that this is a German orchestra. But that perspective suggests that folks have learned a piece through one recording, or through a handful of recordings in similar style. All too easily, one ends up feeling that this is the "real" experience (after all, it's infinitely repeatable), rather than being aware of the enormous variety that any really good piece of music can offer.
If I had to guess which recording many commentators have liked most, and through which they possibly got to know this piece, it would be the following one. Superb orchestra - Amsterdam Concertgebouw conducted by Riccardo Chailly. Very laid back, one-in-a-bar rhythm, even though it's significantly slower than this Munich performance. Much harder to do - and done so well. No wonder this particular recording has been a best-seller. czcams.com/video/-tOLyiLGNTw/video.html
But here's a Russian recording, made in 2004. It's faster than this Munich one, a lot more driven than the Amsterdam one, and it gets faster as it goes along. (Hmmm. Not sure what I think of that last quality.) The general style of playing is very different also - very long string lines (that's very Russian!), and a lighter touch to the chords on each beat. [Edit, 2022 - this recording seems to have disappeared from CZcams. But here's a more recent Russian one, not nearly as polished, but having many of the same qualities. czcams.com/video/4hJ-5slareY/video.html ]
And here's another Russian one, from the Moscow-based Russian Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by the very-Russian Konstantin Krimets. It's a tad slower than the Munich, open-air one, much more heavily accented, but with the characteristically Russian, long-lined string phrasing. czcams.com/video/4_YtQSX1Kp8/video.html
It's good to know on what basis we have preferences, for a preference can have authority outside ourselves only if it can be justified.. Otherwise it's just "Well I like it this way". Human nature gives us liberty to have preferences; but it's good if we can talk about them on a level deeper than that. It doesn't require expertise; but it does require a bit of thought.
This is the most wholesome comment I've seen on youtube in a very long time
@@MaeLSTRoM1997 Thank you for such a healthy reply. I've been a bit surprised at the number of upticks given to my over-long comment. But it's more rewarding to encounter a thoughtful written response, be it negative or (as in your case), positive. Thank you!
this is a very insightful comment into a phenomenon that I've started to notice with myself. Thank you very much for this piece of "thought-food"!
@@Zeutomehr Thank you. It's an issue that has, for many years, been a prominent aspect of my thinking about musical experience. I'm 72, and worked in music all my life. But I was brought up in a place with no electricity. So all music had to be home-made. This was just one of many reasons why I have always tended to prefer live performance to recordings. That said, I am deeply grateful to have recordings available nowadays. Yet that mixture of experience has made me acutely aware of how, even if one is pretty adept at reading a musical score, recordings can "fossilise" one's concepts of how a piece should go.
Mr. Honeck style remembers pretty much Kleiber's. What a great performance. Bravo!
Yes, that's right. Manfred Honeck and Carlos Kleiber were very close friends and Mr. Honeck is a great admirer of Mr. Kleiber.
Bezvremenski, savršeno! Bravo Šostakoviču!

Beautiful Munich!
today, i feel gentle and magnificent play !!
This is a very beautiful version! The Germans do have great classical music playing skills! This version sounds very similar to Russia's Mariinsky orchestra version, which played the first version of this great piece. Bravo!
Замечательное исполнение. Молодцы!
Orchestra is up to Conductor , I feel deeply from this Play !
Beautiful !!!
It's as though they've married two orchestras to preform this waltz. Magnificent.

Mintha Oszter Sándort láthatnám pár pillanatra az elején. Aztán egy fél pillanatra egy vörös kabátos huszárt. Lenyűgöző a zene. És az operatőr a rendező. Az egész élet benne van. Csodálatos !!!!!

Yes it is really fast but it kind of has it's own charme. I like the original version a little bit more but this one is also very good
Please tell me what the 'original' version is.
@@anthonyclark4732 I'd suggest the "original" virsion is played by the Andre Rieu orchestra.
