The sad part for me is that you actually need to be somewhat decent at the game to level up quickly and I'm way too far from being good enough for those difficulties. No way I can tell what a ghost is by listening to their footsteps, unless it's a Revenant.

Yeah, I can do professional just fine so I've been grinding on Tanglewood and trying to get perfect games. Steadily working my way up, with enough progression to keep me going.

It might not be the fastest, but for beginners you can buff the ghost getting to 5.5x but your sanity is normally drained and you get all 3 evidence before the ghost hunts. On tangle you will get 1000-2000 every 5 mins at 100% pick.

if you're on camp woodwind and you check the default camera on the monitor you can see ghost orbs if you turn on night vision you can see the forced ghost orbs
Good way to do a quick mimic check at the end of every run, assuming the ghost room is out in the open and not inside of a tent.

Wraith - Can’t figure out, unless you have salt and it doesn’t leave a foot print if it walks thru the salt
Phantom - Blinking slower than usual
Poltergeist- Throws allot while hunting
Banshee - Can’t figure out solo
Jinn - Can’t figure out (unless you have the breaker on)
Mare - Can’t figure out
Revenant - Fast if it sees you, slow if it doesn’t see you
Shade - Can’t figure out
Demon - Can’t figure out
Yurei - Can’t figure out
Oni - Blinks extremely fast (basically you can see it all the time)
Yokai - Cannot detect equipment from far away, talk to it during a hunt and if it can’t find you it’s a Yokai
Hantu - Slightly faster, and look for freezing breath from the ghosts mouth
Goryo - Can’t figure out
Myling - Will be really quiet
Onryo - Can’t figure out
The Twins - Slower or Faster depending on which one
Raiju - Will be faster if you have equipment around
Obake - Can switch ghost models during hunt
The Mimic - Can’t figure out
Moroi - Will be really fast but not as fast as Thaye, and if you smudge it it’ll be distracted for longer
Deogen - Super fast, but slow when it’s close to you
Thaye - Is the fastest ghost
Wraith - Walking the ghost through salt and it not disturbing it = guaranteed Wraith

Some helpful corrections:
Spirit - you can smudge and see if hunt starts after 3 mins of waiting instead of 90 seconds.
Banshee - use parabolic mic or notice more singing events
Shade - find where it started its first hunt and sit there with a crucifix, see if it hunts you from somewhere else after a while
Demon - hunts 60 seconds after smudging instead of 90
Onryo - place a crucific where it last hunted and a candle next to it. Crucifix cannot burn without the candle being blown out.
Mimic - just make it hunt you multiple times. It will change and act like a different ghost type each hunt. Also ghost orbs still show up on camera. If you see orbs in the first place, its a mimic.
Thaye - only fast early on. As time goes in the ghost will get really slow

This is actually pretty fun. Had a 26 second win on this, walked in, it was a polter and did the polter bomb on all the crap to the right of the gate, I just walked right out.

i was doing these runs and you can pretty accurately figure out if its a demon so long as you wait for 2 hunts. basically, you wait till it comes near you during a hunt and you smudge it. then you start a timer, if it hunts BEFORE 90 seconds has passed then its a demon. the hunt grace period after a smudge is 60 seconds for a demon and 90 for every other ghost.
Also 180 seconds for spirit, keep that in mind

I think I would end up doing this, but not for the reasons you'd think. Sure I want to level, but really what I need to get good at is identifying ghosts by their hunt steps. Doing something like this would basically allow me to hear varying footsteps back to back without the long amount of time I usually take carefully exploring a map in order to find and identify the ghost.
Yeh honestly I feel like you actually learn something by doing this method, cause atleast it makes it so you can likely identify certain ghosts off the bat
same, also to look for the blinking of the ghost. and if it changes ghost model, and how much throwing makes it a poltergeist
the combination of insyms ghost guide video, and doing this strategy with other players online has taught me a lot about ghost behavior. It's not only an excellent way to level, but an excellent way to learn as well

I strongly suggest using the setup from THIS video to get more confident in identifying ghosts during hunt. You keep your ability to sprint, you keep your flashlight and essentially use the same strategy. Honestly, sometimes I get just as much XP if not more from this because I can complete more challenges.
I have been doing this nonstop for the XP and to learn. It is so much fun and after a few days I already feel more confident identify ghosts from their hunting/smudge time actions. Let me know how it goes and good luck!

If you want to Yokai test, you can just use the radio button. Voice isn't very reliable (at least for me) in getting the attention of non-Yokais, but the radio will do it every time. Fun fact, you can also use the radio to test for Raiju - it won't speed him up, but if the ghost is very far away and you get radio static, it's a Raiju.
I've been doing something like this on Willow, usually just bringing in a crucifix so I didn't get insta-fragged at the entrance. I never thought to try it on this map.
Even though I've gotten way more than half of them wrong at least I'm less scared of hunts now 😅 It's like exposure therapy

This actually seems like a really good way for new players to understand the different hidden abilities of the ghosts and be able to identify them alot better
As others said, I love this just for learning the more obvious hunting patterns, most of the time you get at least 150-180 exp for smudging the ghost and if you are able to easily tell what ghost it is, you get some great exp out of it. I rose from level 14 to 24 in a couple of minutes, but sadly the game wouldn't pick up my mic and when I restarted strangely the fog "vanished" and I couldn't see the ghost very well anymore, dunno what happened there during the restart. Just wanted to powerlevel until I can unlock the tier 2 dots sensor to get out of laserpointer hell honestly :D
The new update has been extremely exciting but ive noticed that the pro players are able to get levels really fast whereas the level system works great for newer players which is gonna be really hard for the devs to balance without making it harder for one side
The pros will always be able to level up really fast because if they are pros, they are either doing Phasmo as a job or they just play it for fun, but they play it a lot. So, the devs honestly just need to balance it for the new/casual players.
To echo the comment above, pros and speed runners will always find the most effective and efficient way to level up and it will be almost impossible to balance it around them without ruining the experience for everyone else. Balance should always be around the majority of players who so happen to be casual
Obviously but theres always a fine line where its ok and its too fast im pretty sure 13 prestieges in the first 2 days of release is way too fast this is obviously going to get nerfed

@@kai9528 I don't. People should not balance games around streamers who drop 100 hours into a game in 5 days. That is *not* the average user experience of the game. This is not a PVP game. Insym or Psycho getting to level 100000 doesn't affect your game play at all. Hopefully they come to good conclusions after their 2 week observation/data gathering about any further tweaks that need to be made.

i also find this thing so good for learning ghosts , I personally after every hunt i write down what happened during the hunt and it helped me improve
I went to highschool on x12.50 rewards, realized I forgot my candle/lighter because was doing starter only, guessed Moroi because its been my most common ghost and left.
Got a nice lucky $3750 with 0 skill, 100% luck build.
I was just doing this pretty much all day with my friend. It's so effective, went from tier 1 items to starting to unlock certain tier 3s in a single day. Plus it's making us better at no evidence or not all 3 evidence. Excellent method.

as a new player (39 hours), this has been a great way for me to get used to looping as well as how to identify ghosts during a hunt (with the help of online guides to identify ghost behavior of course)! a very challenging but effective "thrown in the deep end" way of learning important aspects of the game quickly
For any of you guys trying this who dont know, you can pull out the video camera to double check if you can see orbs from the truck before you leave. If there are orbs it is a mimic. If there arent, it still may be a mimic but at least you checked

@Insym in 4:56 the freezing problem might be something that's happening from the game. I don't have that experience like but I'm planning the game from 507 hours and haven't have one freeze. Continue the awesome work your doing 👍❣️

For only -x0.30, you can also set the hiding places to Very High if you're like me, a scared b who can't loop to save their life. That way you'll get the entrance hiding spot, and only make line of sight when you're comfortable
this is a good way to learn the ghost types based on hunts only.
So in about 20 games I would like to share statistics about this method
Around 10 of the runs were against non hunt ghosts like goryo onryo poltergeist
The most common ones were poltergeist (3games) spirit (3games) obake (same) phantom (same)
I was killed 2 times
1 one was my mistake against not properly tracking phantom
2 one was because of sudden hunt right on top of me (behind tables)
Hunt were about 10 to 15 sec (medium time)
Hunt started in about 10 sec after I entered (most sudden 2 sec) least sudden (1 min)
Most optimized strategy from my opinion: not to bring anything except smudges and lighters
Total right identified ghosts: 7
(Spirit 3)
Total cash throughout 20 games earned: 17k
Total cash lost: 5k
Total exp earned: 17 lvls
Total hours spent: 2h

A decent way to farm is to play on apocalypse 3 (x15 rewards) and have 4 people, we kept throwing people at the ghost and we have 4 hunts basically to figure out the ghost by its behavior

Yeah this is how I've been leveling, nothing really comes close. I use the campfire but I guess the benches are easier to avoid getting spotted.

If you want to you can also test for demon. I snudged the ghost during the hunt, and with another pair of smudges stayed until it hunted again which took less then 90 seconds
Yurei you can though it relies on a bit of luck, since Yurei is bugged it will fully open a door instead of closing it when it does it's ability, which can be used on the front door/gate, so if the gate suddenly opens all the way, only the Yurei can do that since it's the only way a ghost can interact with the front door/gate other than closing it for a hunt
I was watching those speed runners this morning, and with a team of 4, they were doing all objectives, too.
So it's basically like the old system when you were doing 3 objectives on camp woodwind (glitched on the tent so the ghost couldn't kill you) on 18x multiplier. The game took like 3 minutes max and you've got 11-15 levels

I'm kinda scaredy cat when it comes to 0% sanity but I gave it a go. First ghost was a Rev, so on a winning hype I went second time. Another Rev KEKW this time I did die, I really didn't believe it wasn't a Mimic. It a few runs that I did I had (among the others) a Demon guessed correctly after I died, a Deo and third Rev. Tho I was mostly proud of getting Moroi right, wasn't sure if Twins but the Incense came in clutch!

You can use the flashlight on the head gear to test for raiju, that way you don’t need to waste time with bringing anything in
You can see a hantu's breath during a hunt when the breaker is off (which is always gonna be off since it'll be broken if you're using this mode)
This method is insane! Used this today (for quite a long time lol) and gained 2 prestige's and a few levels.
Been grinding this and it's oddly fun to do? Like it's strangely satisfying to run it, identify off one hunt, and retry over and over. helps me also realized Im better at the game than I really thought I was too. Don't know how many times I'm gonna prestige though, probably only once lol

ALSO: Easy Mimic Check is to just look at the camera already set up for Woodwind. Just do a cursory glance for a Gorb at the start and if you see a Gorb it's 100% a mimic.
For me, this isn't just a cheese method, it's also an excellent hunt recognition practice setting.

hey Insym! just tested this and found that its very easy to see the Hantu's freezing breath during hunts in fog along side listening to the changing footsteps to rule out Hantu (i had a candle for the objective when i found this out not sure if it makes a difference)
You can loop around the (lit) campfire to see how slow he becomes

Amazing I started doing this too and it’s actually kind of fun I made the ghost and player both normal speed and have like 13x difficulty, played by myself and was easy sometimes and decided to use it in multiplayer and had a good squad that knew what I was doing so made it easier to identify tha ghost off of speed, flickering, and etc… oh yea now sanity is over rated I don’t even bother with it anymore on any difficulty

mimic isn't impossible, you can see dots from the truck, this doesn't always work but the two times i've gotten mimic using this strat i've JUST BARELY seen orbs from the gate

I have a setup at 9.67x difficulty for people that don’t like kiting ghosts during hunts. The goal is to just not get a hunt at all and do everything while your sanity is still high. You need 1 evidence type and for most ghosts you can get a definitive answer in roughly 10-15 minutes. Some ghosts take longer, but if you have decent ghost knowledge, you can rule out almost every ghost every run without getting hunts. You can usually get perfect games too if you don’t mind getting risky to complete certain objectives. Basically everything related to the ghost can be cranked all the way up since hunts are not going to happen. Then just turn on your favorite map on 1 evidence and try and find that evidence as quick as possible while ruling out as many ghosts as possible. Easiest ghosts on this difficulty are mimic, moroi, obake, wraith, poltergeist and yurei. Impossible ghosts are revenant and sometimes deogen and hantu is just a 33% when you get freezing temps. I would say you can have a 90% accuracy within 15 minutes most games. Sometimes you just get the mare ability and can full send it in 30 seconds.
this is a good way to learn how to circle ghosts and learn all the ghost patterns.

I was trying this today. Got a ghost that I thought for sure was a Myling, was super duper quiet. I get in the truck, press the button to leave, and on the screen I saw ghorbs. I panicked and stopped the leave to set it to mimic lol.
you can find yurei when it does a ghost event far away and it just fully closes the front door.
This honestly feels more like a skill thing. You need to be looking out for so many things that my brain could not be able to do it.

me and my friends started playing about a month ago and were trying to study the ghost behaviors so we can actually farm money and xp because weve been miserable with tier 1 items and we can barely buy the equipments

I was a level nine when I joined a lobby yesterday who were doing this. The guy actually speed running was really nice and let stay and get XP. I'm now level 60.
One good way for players without much knowledge to level up is to keep sanity options at standard (amateur) settings, while maxing out all the ghosts stats so the ghost is overpowered. Then just never let it hunt, don't do risky challenges, and take your 5.4x multiplier.
You can find out jinn by throwing an emf reader over the fence before you enter, if you hear footsteps and then the emf it is a jinn

for Hantu you can simply check for cold breath coming out of its mouth. It's really one of the easiest ones.
love your videos, but i do hope u do a avg/normal player boosted level farming. this require some expert level knowledge/ really good hearing to tell differeneces.

I agree with the Camp Woodwind being a good level to grind on. Easy to find the ghost *room* with the Themometer, and the pinic tables are a reliable hiding spot, even while having Hiding Spots off.
I personally use the campfire because it gives really good visibility while acting as a wall

You can figure out Wraith. Dump salt between the picnic tables and when the ghost comes over, loop it between the tables. I grab the salt and toss it into the map, then grab the smudge sticks and head in. If you get a motion sensor objective, toss the motion sensor in with the salt and set the motion sensor on the edge of the table's bench and then place salt. Loop the ghost through the tables again and you'll get even more $$.
Also, if you want to spend a little extra time, just open the gate and don't walk through. Listen and watch and you might get lucky if it's a Poltergeist and you'll see a big throw (I had one chuck a spoon out of the gate at me) or the Wraith, Phantom or Banshee might teleport/roam to you at the entrance. If you drop and EMF at the entrance, it will go off and tell you what you might have.
pro tip: you can know if its a raiju IF its on the other side and you use your radio, if your radio doesnt work when its far away, its a raiju. im pretty sure it works because i got it by doing that

I just noticed that hantu have cold breathe while hunting, if its not coincedence. So its pretty easy to detect him. (3 of 3 times in my game it was hantu)

I feel good that my common ghost is a deogen and not a mimic because of how many times insym gets scammed by the mimic i would rage so much on no evidence alone from it but he is in my opinion the goat of Phasmophobia and will always be in my heart he taught me so much and ive learned almost everything from him except his skill 😂 have a great day yall ✌🏻keep grinding

Annoying that he doesn't credit them by name. Instead it's just 'a group of speedrunners'. Also for those wanting to try this, mimic orbs are harder to see in foggy weather and with the new lighting fog does not increase visibility so use windy (like they do)

Set up i went with is drop off a photo, salt, and smudge at the entrance then go in with match and 2 smudge. I've done 10 runs and found 3 wraiths and 3 onis already.
Since I don't have any incense yet, I randomly pick a ghost before I get out of the truck. I gained exp thanks to raiju 2 times. I recommend it haha
