I used obsidian for 5 years now - heavily using the canvas boards - how mind-blown i was to watch the "paste an URL" and basically create and embed.. and I had never seen this before....

Do back links and connections work with Canvas cards

Not to my knowledge. If you add notes to your canvas and use links in the contents of the notes, those will show up. But the connections on the canvas don’t actually do anything (Scrintal does though if you’re looking for that)
