Bandra (West) & Khar (West) has been one of Mumbai's finest neighbourhoods to reside in, and is widely considered and clubbed together as one overall Bandra-Khar suburb. It is an area with some of Mumbai's best shopping and fine dining addresses.
The joint Bandra-Khar belt is an upscale and vibrant area which is evergreen throughout the year. Peaceful, tree-shaded lanes are a charming characteristic of this area.
Khar-Bandra area is home to many Bollywood celebrities. Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut, Parineeti Chopra, Karan Johar, Ramesh Sippy, Ashutosh Gowarikar, Karisma Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Tiger Shroff, Shilpa Shirodkar, Anuradha Paudwal and Srijit Mukherji live in Khar (West). It was once inhabited by mega stars like Dilip Kumar and his wife Saira Banu, late Dev Anand at Pali Hill, music composer stalwart S. D. Burman at Linking Road (at the current site of Raheja House), Sunil Dutt and Nargis, as well as their son Sanjay Dutt, Manoj Kumar, Sadhana, legendary music composer and playback singer Hemant Kumar, and lyricist Shailendra. Sharukh Khan's home is at Bandra & office Gauri Khan production house is at Khar and Mahesh Bhatt's office is also located here.
Linking Road and Hill Road were two of the main shopping hubs in the suburbs of Mumbai India. Over the years this shopping hub has stretched beyond its original length. The road starts from S.V Road in Bandra and continues to Khar, and extends beyond this towards Santacruz and Juhu in the north of the city.
It is a shopping hub for every pocket size with everything from street stalls selling products for a bargain to niche stores and boutiques for specialized products to high end international brands. It is the most expensive retail location in India.
Over past decade linking road has gained popularity because of its night life.
