Even this is indirect injection engine, but still too much carbon buildup on the intake valve building up because, i drive the car aggressively sometime and the oil vapor passing from PCV valve to intake throttle
decarbonize engine with water is the cheapest method, but it only removes light carbon, not a heavy carbon buildup, so steam does removes carbon buildup on piston and intake valve
this is a very common problem with indirect fuel injectors, because the fuel injectors located on top of the piston meaning the fuel injectors no longer washing the intake valves
in this video we will answer (Does water/steam cleanse pistons and intake valve of Direct/Indirect injection engine without REMOVING anything?) and i will show the process of intake valve cleaning without using special tool in another meaning: decarbonizing your engine with water
    problems with direct injection engines
    1. Rough ruining
    2. Hard starting
    3. Poor fuel economy
    4. Loss of power
    5. Misfiring

Be very careful when doing this. He is using actual steam but if you use water you should use a spray bottle and only inject a very small amount of water over time..I did this with a car I used to have and got carried away and put too much water in and it hydrolocked the engine and broke a rod in half and destroyed the engine!

This does work to decarbonize engines. My car had a slight hesitation and a rough idle i sprayed water in a vacuum hose while the engine was at operating temperature and took the car on the highway an hour after letting the carbon soften up. After the long ride on the highway (approx. 30 minutes) my rough idle went away

Combustion of fuel itself generates lots of steam. If that has not cleaned the engine, external steam will not. Also the amount of steam vis a vis amount of air at 2000 RPM would be negligible.

Hey, Just wanted to let you know that wasn’t “rust spots” that was dirt from your spark plug recess that fell in the hole because you didn’t blow out the spark plugs before you removed them. So, naturally after you run the engine that dirt would go out the exhaust and wouldn’t be there again. So you have only deceived yourself.

It’s fine in small amounts like steam or even spraying water into the intake as long as you go slow and make sure the engine is hot before starting the process so it can make the water steam as soon as it gets into the cylinders which makes it steam the carbon away.
