Another thing that I didn't do well with in college, besides having to work, was vacations. I thought Thanksgiving vacation meant no school and no work. It did, but it also meant "move out of the dorm!" Nobody told me that, and I was an independent student without a "home" to return to. So I stayed in the dorm a week enjoying the quite and solitude. Then I got caught and got a disciplinary strike at my residence hall. This was the beginning of the end.
I COMPLETELY understand!! Any sort of vacation, especially the summer, was a very hard transition. From having a full schedule to no structure. Hope you're doing well.
This needs to be addressed and changed. I would bring it up to the advisors and president, write a section in school paper. You’re a great student but the transitions are scary, abrupt and some can’t do. PROUD of you!!!
I have a bachelor's degree, three master's degrees, and I'm now a college professor. I didn't get diagnosed (ADHD and autism) until many years into my career. I don't say that to flex, but rather to emphasize that it's absolutely possible. (btw, don't do three master's. It is insane. Do not do this.) I struggled in a lot of similar ways, though--it took me until grad school to really feel competent as a student. It's a lot to take on for neurotypical teenagers who process things in a neurotypical way, and that much more challenging for us.
As both a former student and a professor, I really encourage everyone to take Allie's advice. You MUST be your own self advocate, because no one will do this for you. Trust me, I know it's hard to advocate for yourself, but you'd be surprised how much support you can get if you ask for it. If you're not comfortable asking, there are lots of neurodiverse CZcamsrs like Allie who have great advice. Watch some videos, take some time to think about what's difficult for you, and ask for help, whether it's from an advisor, a counselor provided by the college, a mentor, or a teacher you trust. Asking for help is critical. We all know there are some things you Just Do Not Understand until it's explained in a way that makes sense to you. Don't struggle with this or just try to get by without understanding. Your professors want you to understand, but they don't know that you need help until you tell them.

First 1:19 minutes had me saying WOWZERS!!! From an outsider looking in, congratulations…slow down and breathe…but man you have done something right to get where you are…we’re PROUD of you!!!!
I had a Pell grant, so I had to work a job in addition to full time classes. This was when I had my first burnout, I'm realizing. I wasn't diagnosed back then, it was the 90s. I wonder what kind of accomodations I should have asked for if I had known or if it was today. I know now that I can't work and school at the same time. I've tried to go back to school many times but cannot afford to do it without a job.
I got the pell grant as well and I'm currently struggling to find a part-time job that I will be able to handle for months on end...
