I love how Hafriz specifically mentioned how rear fog lights are being misused by a lot of drivers in Malaysia, because it's totally true. Really grinds my gears when i see a Vios/Persona with the rear fog light on DURING A CLEAR NIGHT.

Performance, don't know yet but lightweight with high torque is more than adequate.
Comfort, for 4 adults with luggage is comfy enough.
Practicality, as shown, no Perodua's hook but I think everything else is quite nice especially with the big boot space.

Due to geographical factors, Malaysians are sure for enough with the 2wd mode as the model is much fuel efficient and economy for the car owners.

A car that looks stylish and have pretty nice looking interior! Very good safety features too! They should just include Apple Carplay & Android Auto + the 360 camera as an additional option too! The Dcvt that only have a maximum torque limit of 150Nm just spoils it for the potential of modding. (Like stock condition already 140Nm) Some other cars with 1L 3 cylinder engine are already pushing 200Nm at stock condition. Better pay $10k+ more and stick to X50 Executive for a better experience if you're into higher performance car & want a better driving experience.

With the many safety features, bigger size (height/weight), extra ground clearance, front styling, spare tyre, firmer suspension and most importantly the pricing, it's time to upgrade from my Perodua. Great job by the local engineers and designers who did not offer a plain,

I saw the pictures and videos at youtube on the daihatsu rocky before this ativa launch on 3.3.2021. I was assuming the size is about suzuki swift or slightly bigger than myvi since my old 2nd car is myvi. I prefer a compact car for 2nd car as it is easy to park especially when sending kids to school and going to pasar malam at my house area. On 3.3.2021 i went to perodua showroom in subang and when i saw and seat inside ativa i notice 1.the looks is very bulky so i can conclude not suitable for small parking spaces like myvi.2. After going in and adjust the seat position, overall the space is about myvi size legroom space.not balance with the.bulky looks from outside.3.no DRL 4.No rear air cond vents 5. All doors and dashboard is hard plastic.most cars now they mix with front soft plastic and back doors are hard plastic.

Ativa or x50 comparison personally think that .
Performance x50 better cause the engine develop by volvo in same CC 1.0L X50 - bingyue china version deliver 134hp while the ativa only deliver 97Hp.
Why so much different both tech from famous car manufacturer?
Safety feature vise , i think X50 better cause it use radar instead of using vision witch using in ativa.
The X50 adas and all safety develop by volvo and why they using radar instead of vision?
Cause when rain snow or perspective angle vision is not good to do the judgement .
While ativa use only pure vision mainly cheaper solution and have same features but not top technology.

If you want to play safe, save money & better after sales definitely ativa. If you want something more premium & more powerful x50. For me x50 is just a more premium choice now (higher quality interior, better adas system, sunroof, rear aircond vent, 360 camera, more powerful engine, etc), otherwise both of them do pretty much a same thing. If you can afford both & choosing between those car, just choose what you want & likes. Both are good car in my opinion & serve same purpose, it just ativa is a cheaper & safer choice, meanwhile x50 is a more premium choice.

Ativa is Japan car while X50 is basically China car. Btw if you compare to home country price Ativa is actually cheaper than the Japan one while X50 is almost RM 30k higher than China Binyue.
X50 is more premium and powerful but at the same time it was RM 30k more expensive. The power of X50 is good but handling is not as great as we expected as many claim the handling not ideal. While Ativa is first using DNGA chassis it should perform good in handling and I suspect it might be better than X50 at corner.
Japan selling Ativa at RM 80k and China selling X50 at RM 75k. In Malaysia surprisingly X50 is way more expensive than Ativa. For me 72k can get a Japanese car and it even cheaper than its home country why should I go for a P1 who earning huge margin on it model.

Proton's SUV offerings just got slain, what more with the current fuel prices at record ceiling price points. In a word, Perodua does make Malaysia's version of what the volkswagen was meant to be for the Germans.

Though X50 and Ativa are both compact SUV, both serve a totally different kind of consumers. More like Mazda 3 vs Toyota Corolla, Persona vs Bezza.
