I just have to add this. Notice (1) how Hitomi watches closely Brendan's tempo & improv while she is still playing blindly with her two hands. That's technique's mastery. And (2) how she moves left on her seat to let B seat next to her. But B, very tactfully, does not seat to allow her full control and, enhance her interpretation of Georgia but without 'taking over.' All of this and more, with music, but without a word spoken. That's musical respect between two superb musicians that have never met! I will hear more from Hitomi Kawasaki's jazz even if I have to learn Japanese. PS: She has a home in Tokyo, another in Rome, and another in London. She's well-to-do, but very classy and humble. A great musician! Brendan adapted perfectly to her soft, slow mood & tempo. Notice at the end, when Hitomi puts her hands on her lap indicating she's about to finish, Dr K does a descending finishing scale, while Hitomi keeps his rhythm with her head and immediately imitates it but with blues chords while they both finish on the same note... very softly. [Brendan has an immense musical versatility, sense of rhythm, and musical adaptation that's often overlooked by the not-so-musically inclined because of his intense like for the over-the-top dynamic boggie-woggie.] Hitomi is a very humble and classy lady, besides having such profound sense of jazz tempo, rhythm, softness touch, and self-control. Hitomi's placing her hands on her lap to indicate to BK that she is over, and now the 'finale' to close, is simply genial!
@@michaelfotenopulos3711 Look at 2:59 how she gives Dr K a quick one second smile of approval, and how she is keeping rhythm with her left foot toes, totally understated (not like our beloved, over-the-top Dr K) but musically wise nevertheless. Different cultures, different mannerisms. Vive la difference!

Well, that was a Kodak moment. Just the facial features, her intensity and calmness blew me away while never faltering that perfect Georgia rendering with Dr.K. That was an incredible performance.
Ohhh Dr. K & Hitomi, this was truly beautiful and magical! Dr. K, I admired how you respected Hitomi's talent and allowed her to shine. Much love to you both! ❤️🇨🇦
Absolutely beautiful jazz! Loved her slow, blues tempo. She is so gifted. I have to hear more jazz from Hitomi. Brendan's improv was also exquisite. Not overwhelming at all, but just enhancing her jazz here and there. Amazing duet!
The way she played Georgia on my mind was gorgious ! Soft, sweet and slow, like one of the best blues numbers ever written by Maria Muldaur ("Sweet & Slow") ! Very sensual ! At the (Japanese) girl ! She was absolutely top with Dr. K in duet and the most amazing thing is that Dr. K immediately adapts into this soft mood. Imagine he would kick the keys like he does in duet with Terry Miles !
The song Sweet and Slow was written by Harry Warren and Al Dubin and was first recorded by Will Osborne and His Orchestra in 1935. Maria Muldaur covered and released it in 1993. I should do my research before posting, yes. That doesn't take away the fact that the version of Georgia on My Mind by Dr. K and that Japanese woman is equally sweet and slow, sweeter & slower than Ray Charles's version.
I agree! Brendan adapted perfectly to her soft, slow mood & tempo. Damn that was amazing to watch theres nothing more like going to your street piano and meet new people with great skills and playing styles Amazing Love this song Great Jazz !!!!
The lady played this Ray Charles piece beautifully and Dr.K added his expertise. I will look her up as I believe she is very good. The weather in England is apparently very cold - here in Sth Aust. the weather is cool and quite unusual for February.
Just for the record, Georgia On My Mind was by Hoagy Carmichael, and pre-dates Ray Charles's recording by 30 years! It was already a well covered jazz standard.
That's because music is instilled in them very early on. Even their education system places a strong emphasis on music starting at kindergarten. Long ago America did the same thing, but now the emphasis is on gender-this, race-that, etc. As a result, America has lost all sense of "culture."

Eine tolle Musikerin !
You're right Jaime, music can do that. Without "speaking to one another", music can do all the talking..!
