Why get a 400 when 250s are an option
I see alot of potential for future videos if all the boys get old race quads. So i say keep it.
I think you should keep it and rebuild it and wrap it like you did your side by side

The 250exs and 300exs use the same cylinder and head if I’m not mistaken, it’s just that the 300 has a longer stroke to increase displacement. 2vintage made a video about this and explained the differences
The compression release is on the top right side of the cylinder. It’ll be a lever. Just flip it up and that’s how you do it

Helpful tip on the top of the right side of the head below the gas tank there is a compression release valve flip it up every kick for it to make a huge ease of kicking starting it that's what it's there for
You should totally keep it it's got potential and it's a good project build

I had a 87 250x 2 years ago and it was so much fun. I can’t believe I ever got rid of it I miss it to this day. It had pretty much all the goodies you could get

Hey miller love your videos I would keep it for now fix it up ride it for a bit and then resell it and get a 400 but it all depends on what your plan is with it, and who you ride with

damn finaly a honda quad with that super trap exhaust i was looking at one for my adly 300 (honda trx300ex) but hard to find a video about it...
they are suppose to be really good when u addd or removed plates from the exhaust u add top speed or remove top speed according to the manuel
Fun Fact: All Hondas (well all of my cousins side by sides and four-wheelers) have a little label on one the of the bars near the bumper, it tells the model and year it was made. The year is in big font tho

The compression release kicks in when you kick over the bike but the frame is off of a 300ex and the engine is off of a 250x the 300 is an electric start and the 250 is a kick start. You can take a 350x and a 200x trike engine and put them both in the same frame without changes.

I have a 1987 Honda 250x and the compression release is connected to the kick start
you had the kill switch in the off postion when you were not getting spark.

Sounds to be running lean, check the spec for the air mixture fuel and replace the spark plug. They have a gap specification and if there’s build up on top of it it’ll have weak spark. Get a new NGK spark plug, they come pre-gapped

make sure the timin gis correct. beings its been messed with, it would be worth it to go ahead and do the top end and put a new timing chain with new guids and tensioners, if the timing isnt right or if it so happens to be a tooth of two off, it will missfire and not run correctly, it will still run, however but not right. You know the timing has been messed with previously, atleast check it. Timing chains for those bikes are dirt cheap! Hope this helps.

it did not have spark because the spark plug cant get a ground when it is on the fins of the head i had a fortrax 300 4x4 that i thought had no spark and i moved the spark plug to the top off the fins and it had spark and they share the same head.

Adjust the valves, clean and jet the carb. Replace plug and change oil. Should be a ripper
Hey miller the 250ex and 300ex from that time both had the same size pistons and top ends the difference was the that the 300ex had a longer stroke 👍
They never made a 300ex with a kicker they are both 250x not 250ex again you can say they are the same but like you say one is a longer so so but they both 250x

Probably one of the jets in side clogged sounds like it’s starving for fuel or the valve on the tank is bad and not letting enough fuel come through to the inlet of the carburetor unless its just dumping fuel out the carb through that hose you were talking about then the mixture screws aren’t adjusted properly so take it all the way in then 2.5 turns out
Miller trust keep my friend has had one for a very very long time took care of it is a beast
also, if the timing is off it wont spark right. while kick starting it the timing may have jumped back a tooth to create spark after kicking it for so long. if its a tooth or two off, itll spark but not well.

for the compression there shuld be a swich at the top of the top end

Buy a amazon carb for it. Thats a good 4 wheeler. I'm in south ga , but if your wanting to sell it , I would make the trip up there to buy it for the right price.
