This is a mind-blowing passage in many ways. What stands out most in my mind is how the prediction 'Persia will **DESTROY** the entire world' made zero sense for the first 1800 or so years after it was written. Man did not possess the ability to *DESTROY THE ENTIRE WORLD* until only about 80 years ago. So the Rabbis wrote something that literally made no sense at all, it was complete gibberish, until the dawn of the nuclear age with the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the tests on Bikini Atoll and the rest. The Yalkut Shimoni is an ancient commentary on the Hebrew Bible. This "Remez 499" is a commentary on Chapter 60 of the Book of Isaiah. It is an ancient Medrash of Metaphor and tremendous depth. I would not call it "Talmudic" though.

The similar prophesies can also be found in different places in the Old Testament (Tanakh).. At some places in bits and pieces, and at others more whole (elaborate).

The Jewish people kept track of which countries were which since they were given the Torah, which is why Germany is still referred to as Ashkenaz in Hebrew. While Edom did refer to a certain country in a certain region, the people of that region eventually migrated and became Rome, and eventually the Roman Empire all over the world. So it is believed that Romulus and Remus who founded Rome were descended from Esau/Edom in the Jewish tradition. Eventually Rome evolved and became the Holy Roman Empire which then became Catholicism in general, then into broader Christianity. Technically it doesn't necessarily mean America, but the Rabbis today say that all countries are either Edom, Ishmael(Muslims/Arabs), or Jacob(Israel). And it's clear that Edom then refers to the non-Muslim world which is all of the West. And the leader of the Western world is America.
@esthercom5672 Jesus practiced Judaism not the Christianity that's practiced by Christians today. All of Christianity's practices including Christmas and going to church on Sunday were things that the Romans practiced long before Jesus. The only changes made were that they Christianized the whole thing. None of this was practiced by Jesus and was only introduced much later as once the religion was adopted by non-Jews. This shift is also compared to Esau and Jacob's relationship. Jacob and Esau were previously good brothers until Esau decided he wants to kill his brother and went separate ways. Christianity also separated from Judaism and for the last 2000 years had been trying to kill Jews. Esau in Hebrew has the same letters as Jesus in Hebrew. Even if Edom was previously located in Jordan, it's not about the location but the people ans ethnic group. Israel also was located in Canaan, but now they are dispersed everywhere. In either case, this is how Jews have always understood Esau/Edom to be. All they did was follow the ethnic group known as Edom and where they migrated and how they ended up today, and this is what it is.

You are confused. That portion of the Yalkut Shimoni is not "a prophecy." It's *MIDRASH.* There is a huge difference. In fact, all of Yalkut Shimoni is midrash. And Edom is not the United states, or any other gentile nation. Edom is made up of the ones who reject their birthright, just like Esau did.

The Yalkut Shimoni is an ancient commentary on the Hebrew Bible. This "Remez 499" is a commentary on Chapter 60 of the Book of Isaiah. It is an ancient Medrash of Metaphor and tremendous depth. I would not call it "Talmudic" though.

The similar prophesies can also be found in different places in the Old Testament (Tanakh).. At some places in bits and pieces, and at others more whole (elaborate).

The Jewish people kept track of which countries were which since they were given the Torah, which is why Germany is still referred to as Ashkenaz in Hebrew. While Edom did refer to a certain country in a certain region, the people of that region eventually migrated and became Rome, and eventually the Roman Empire all over the world. So it is believed that Romulus and Remus who founded Rome were descended from Esau/Edom in the Jewish tradition. Eventually Rome evolved and became the Holy Roman Empire which then became Catholicism in general, then into broader Christianity. Technically it doesn't necessarily mean America, but the Rabbis today say that all countries are either Edom, Ishmael(Muslims/Arabs), or Jacob(Israel). And it's clear that Edom then refers to the non-Muslim world which is all of the West. And the leader of the Western world is America.

@esthercom5672 Jesus practiced Judaism not the Christianity that's practiced by Christians today. All of Christianity's practices including Christmas and going to church on Sunday were things that the Romans practiced long before Jesus. The only changes made were that they Christianized the whole thing. None of this was practiced by Jesus and was only introduced much later as once the religion was adopted by non-Jews.
This shift is also compared to Esau and Jacob's relationship. Jacob and Esau were previously good brothers until Esau decided he wants to kill his brother and went separate ways. Christianity also separated from Judaism and for the last 2000 years had been trying to kill Jews. Esau in Hebrew has the same letters as Jesus in Hebrew.
Even if Edom was previously located in Jordan, it's not about the location but the people ans ethnic group. Israel also was located in Canaan, but now they are dispersed everywhere.
In either case, this is how Jews have always understood Esau/Edom to be. All they did was follow the ethnic group known as Edom and where they migrated and how they ended up today, and this is what it is.

No Where in the Jewish Scriotures did God ever indicate that the sacrificial system for atonement of sin was abolished except in the book of Daniel chapter 9:24-27 but you should read that whole chapter to make sure you get clear knowledge. This was about Mashiach Yehoshua/Yeshua/Jesus being that Atonment/Kapporah/"Covering for our sin. " but Only for those who believe, accept and receive this perfect Holy sinless sacrifice of love and truth given for those who place their emunah/faith in Yeshua and what He accomplished and we receive this undeserved perfect gift of love, salvation and atonement by Grace alone! Yeshua and the Kehillot, His talmidim followed and practiced Biblical Judaism but today they practice rabbinical Judaism. They seem to take the rabbis opinions as the final say and the rabbis opinions vary greatly. I mean what had greater authority? Torah, God's Word or the talmud which was written by rabbis with many different views and opinions. So much focus in the shuls is the rabbinical writing and portions of the first 5 books of Torah mainly but the skip around the " controversial " parts. Isaiah 52:13-15 and Isaiah 53:1-12 you won't find these that I have ever heard of or seen as any portions read during the yearly round of Torah portions. Yeshua is Jewish, born in Migdal Eder, the Tower of the Sheep Gate in Beit Lechem Ephratah just like Jewish Scripture says in Micah 5:2. And Just like God told Avraham when He stopped Him from sacrificing Itzack, I will provide the lamb for the sacrifice and from what I understand it was on that very mountain Yeshua gave us perfect atonment when He hung on the etz to pay for our sin when we deserved to hang on the tree for our own sin. People don't understand how Yeshua deeply cared for and loved His own Jewish people and believe it or not many in Israel placed complete trust and Emunah/faith in Him. They knew no one could speak like He did, heal like He did, the blind, the deaf, the lame, they knew no one could do good like He did, care and love like He did. And how people who were oppressed, depression and possessed by evil unclean spirits were completely and totally set free when Yeshua used His God given authority against them and the screached and screamed in torment leaving those people. Those demons knew who He was and that they had to obey Him! Yeshua is the one and only true Mashiach that will return in these end times just like Daniel said when knowledge and travel shall increase greatly on the earth. But before that the false messiah will come for a 7 year tribulation period before Yeshua's final and Glorious return to Jerusalem to destroy the false messiah and rescue the remnant of Israel. When they see Him they will know just like it says in Zechariah 12:10 that they will look upon the One that had been pierced. Yeshua will bring that True Shalom mentioned in Isaiah 11 which will cover the whole earth. Now a mystery is God said, " I do not dwell in temples made by men's hands! " now when the pharisees were threatening Yeshua, Yeshua said," Destroy this temple and I will raise it back up again in shalosh/3 Days! They thought He was Meshuggen! And said," it took 47 years to build this temple and you say you will raise it up in the days? ( palm slaps forehead and they say OyVey! ) Yeshua of course was speaking of Him rising back to Chaiyim/life again! And referring to His body as the temple. And after He was hung on the tree on Pesach before sunset and had been in the sepulcher during the chag HaMotzi/Feast of unleavened bread and Arose on Yom HaBikkirim/Reashit Katzir/Feast of First Fruits. He was seen by people and was with His people for 40 days and on the 40th day He ascended up into shomayim/heaven! Even that is written about in Daniel 7:13-14. 2 very bright Malachs of God said, " men of Israel why do you stand gazing up into the skies? The same Yeshua who was taken up in the Anan/Clouds/Shekkinah will return in the same manner as you saw Him go! They of course was speaking of a future time. On the 50th day, 10 days later on the Chag of Shavuot Yeshua sent His Ruach HaKodesh to indwell the Kehillot, His Talmidim and to inscribe Torah upon their levavots/hearts and gave them Koach/Emporement to GO! And spread His truth ( The Gospel ) to all nations! Now it says in the New Covenant ( ordained by God. ) read in the Jewish Scriptures Jeremiah 31:31-33. It says in the New Covenant/New Testament that We, His Kehillot/Talmidim/Khallah are the Temple, our bodies filled with the Ruach HaKodesh are the New Temple and dwelling place of God. That is why believers in Yeshua can pray for healing and deliverance in faith in Yeshua's name and God's perfect will can be accomplished as He builds up His temple ( His People ) Jewish and Gentile believers. So the false messiah after 3 and a half years will enter the 3rd temple ( made by men's hands ) and the false messiah will place an image of himself in the temple, he will claim to be God and will demand to be worshipped and all who refuse will be anhillated.
