The 2023 osu World Cup was defined by one word: chaos. Upsets came out of nowhere at every turn, teams that were expected to do well faltered while others put on an amazing miracle run, and the craziest outcomes came to fruition. Even as some things remained the same, they were very much different. The South Korea vs United States grand finals matchup was one many people expected, but the many circumstances leading up to this moment completely changed how we looked at it. The two greatest countries in osu standard history had gone through different phases and embodied different narratives, and now there was one match left to decide the fate of these two teams. The two greatest teams with the single greatest rivalry were going to battle it out once again. But no one could've expected just the sheer insanity these two teams would put on display for everyone to witness...

yw
THIS CANNOT BE REAL, AM I DREAMING??????? The king is back
Yo real
glazing
YOU THINK YOUR THE KING IM THE KING
Those that said "oh this owc is boring the usa won" must be f-cked out of their minds. Yeah usa won but the overall owc was f-cking amazing. So many ups and downs, forum performing at his best, VAXEI was there despite not being at his peak. And many more. OWC 2023 has been the most phenominal tournament to ever witness
i think 2018 and 2019 were the best but yeah this one was good. 2018 was most hype, and 2019 was most breathtaking (vaxei gaming)
@@loopen OWC 2023 had so many unpredictable moments
So then is it really okay to say this match was a completely flawless one? Imagine performing like worst hr player did, setting 2 of the best tournament scores ever in a single tournament to then only get to the same result with a best team you ever had and let's not be delusional most likely he will ever have in owc, defeated by a roster with top mc players being rektygon and barely active retired top player who against all odds turned on so once again SK could lose
like what do those people even want the US to do??? lose on purpose just to please your viewing experience? its so stupid
@@MinhHoang-kg8mh sorry, as "one of those people", i want to see someone else BESIDES the US win, obviously i don't want them to just stop playing the fucking map on purpose, i just want to see another country win after so long
Bro I watched this with my dad, that shit was fire asf.
W dad
truly the craziest match in osu! history (I am an npc)
Craziest OWC in 52 minutes
and its summarized in a well edited video
as a filipino im proud that both PH team losses are to them
51:11 THATS CRAZY FOR AVA LOL
i got done DIRTY but its chill
@@a_va_your stupid but like good stupid not the bad stupid so at least you get the good stupid
I appreciate and care for all my friends a lot :D
(But yeah she's kinda dumb sometimes)
@@n3rdiness I mean we can all be dumb at times. Like on time when I was writing a test i was looking at my friends paper and i wrote his name instead of mine but he did get an A so i kinda helped him out
I just watched almost an hour of video about an esports tournament I didn’t even know existed, about a rhythm game I don’t even play. You’ve earned a sub from me, sir. You should be proud. (also I love the commentators on these matches!)
the voice i love(sorry ed) when it comes to osu documentaries
Man... I wasnt there watching owc but this encapsulates everything from intensity to rivalry perfectly. Thank you for making this !
Idk why people think USA is the villain. They have a perfect hero journey that I have ever seen, losing and getting kick down to loser bracket, drama about the roster, and being a head a couple time but at the end of day they still rise up as a victor.
Everyone is the hero of their own story
You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.
@@synexiasaturnds727yearsago7yet the hero always wins isn’t it?
@@riyuiwashere depends on your definition of "win"
This video is amazing! I love your way of storytelling. You legitely made my heart race by the intensity of your storytelling even tho I knew the outcome of the story already
It genuenly was a joy to watch. Keep up the amazing work man!
incredible video, pretty much took my feelings of this entire owc out of my mouth and into an incredibly well put-together video
literally made me get on the edge of my seat despite knowing exactly what happened lmao
love your videos man. God dang i have been reminded again of that tiebreaker, it was suffocating but fr that was the most chaotic play between the 2 giants
welcome back, love the content as usual.
really great video, didn't even realize it's 50 minutes and enjoyed it all the way. great script, really could feel some emotion through your voice and editing
Love the video, was great to remember this amazing tournament that i had to wake up at 3am to watch before work XD.
Just one thing I didn't like was the music overlapping during the intense tournament moments, I suppose some songs dont fit too well mid the narrative but especially songs like VANITAS were MADE for that scene, it felt quite annoying and also the overlapping music was a problem only solved by increasing the volume of the edited music and drowining out the commentators.
Overall though, I loved it. Now I have a reference to show my friends why this match was so insane (and also teach me more about the older history of these two teams).
even if he didnt have his background music play, you cannot hear vanitas over the commentators screaming like monkeys every 2 seconds
The video edition, your narritve and the delicious music picks for this video made it so epic wtf. I forgot which was the last time I watched a video this long nonstop, it captivated my attention completely, this definitely summarizes well the most epic match and OWC in osu history!
banger video 🔥🔥🔥felt like I was reliving that crazy owc
Wonderful video, you have great scripting skills and know how to keep a video hype and entertaining throughout. Just a joy to watch. Looking forward to the next ones :)
You kept me glued to the screen for 50 minutes talking about a game I played less than the duration of this video.
Insane narration, you've earned a follower.
hmmm why n3rdiness isn't making videos, surely osu history goat woudn't make a 50 minute video. Its awesome, I'm glad that you are back
wc back goat n3rdiness ❤
Great video! Ending this with 'weight of the world' is so perfect!!!
Incredible video as always n3rd!!
52 mins??? nice, i never actually watched any of your videos that much but ive seen reactions to them and ive heard great things about ur channel
I haven't played osu! seriously in years, and the last time I watched anything related to osu! was the 2022 OWC. Thanks for bringing me back in the most anticipating and entertaining way possible.
What do you mean this video has ONLY 33K VIEWS?? You made me feel so invested on this and I haven't touched osu or thought about it for the last idk 9 years. This 1h video felt like 10mins lmao it was a great watch
great video as always man, dont play too much anymore but i still love the game, I wish SK would've won but USA really put their hearts in and deserved it.
I love n3rdiness' videos, the highest quality osu! documentations
Never watched or played OSU in my life but the narration was spot on and made it super fun, not to mention the announcers were electric. Great video 😁
great video ;D
got me hyped for owc 2024
Such a great video 🎉
your choices of background music during this video hit me so hard. Tearing up. Why would you put weight of the world in the end. This hurts. Great video. Great storytelling on a monumental matchup!
nice vid as always. Welcome back
Never watched OSU, but this was an epic video. I'm sure it took a very long time. Thanks for giving me a glimpse of the wonderful world of OSU.
great video n3rd!
great video, awesome work!
I dont even know anything about competitive osu and i was hooked, great script! So exciting!
watching a n3rdiness vid in 2024 newly released an hour ago is peak fr
Criminal that this incredible video doesn’t have 10x more views at least
“Doubters be silenced - believers be vindicated” has to be one of the single hardest things ever said in esports commentary and it’s seriously not even close. When I watched it live that shit gave me chills.
crazy you used the nier song for the credits, good job
HE BACK GG
great watch
This is such a great video
NEW UPLOAD LESGOO
hoLY that was a very good video keep it up!
it was 53 minutes long ? what ? I guess that's enjoying something hun, it goes by FAST ! Thanks for making these videos :)
very crazy indeed. it just unbelievable to think about.
this is like the best video ive ever watched holy
Jesus christ, this video is amazing. It feels like watching a movie, matchs were so fun to watch.
Amazing job, goat.
this is the best owc match
I’ve been foaming at the mouth waiting for your return mr nerdiness
Finally your back
That was crazy dude
Omg welcome back!!!
We lived long enough to see another video
YOUR FINNALY BACK LESS GOOO
I don't follow the OSU community or watch it at all but anytime I see something regarding the OSU World cup, I immediately watch. This video was amazing to watch as someone who knows very little about OSU.
wow dude what a fucking banger video
good job, we've missed you
okay but is no one gonna recognize that commentators monologue at the end, that gave me absolute goosebumps woah
is that a secret base reference i see near the end? (welcome to a moment in history)
the goat creator is back and he's better than ever!
I mean I just like watching all the good players play as a community in the biggest event osu has idc who wins I think they all had a great time 😊
48:05 I barely know the game, and the commentators gave me goosebumps, here (music did help, too). All of USA...All of USA...ALLLLLLLLLL OF USA...!
hey mate, great work on the 52 minute video (the editing and script making job must have taken forever)
he is back
This watch was my first OWC ever im so hhappy that i was there for this amazing match
welcome back goat
not even an osu fan and I still found myself hooked
OMG HE FOUND HIS CZcams PASSWORD
but for real glad we have a n3rdiness vid again
Proud to say I watched the entirety of OWC live. It was so amazing!!! Every match was so exciting and fun to watch. I wish SK won because they truly deserved it no less than than the USA. But nontheless it was a beautiful tournament.
The King is back
Crazy video
I just watched a whole movie, and it was amazing
50 minute video? Morr like 2 minutes with how fucking good it was. From Furioso Melodia, to VANITAS, the USA is something else till the very end.
OWC: USA is a villain bcuz theyre way too good
meanwhile TWC:
"last year karcher ripped their soul in half" got me dying
I must admit i dont know what osu is let alone know there is a competeive scene but this was just awesome!
HES ACTUALLY BACK POGGGGGGGG
crazy video holy shit
video about akolibed pp record when??? 😢😢 welcome back king, we've missed you ❤
IS DECEMBER 3RD 2023 *GOAT NOISES*
Thiss is epic!
Making this single 52 minute video must have taken a shit ton of time, it's really well done.
I hope you get a really good career out of this
me when n3rdiness drop a 52min video on a random saturday
NERDINESS UPLOAD🗣🗣‼️‼️❗❗❗
I’m glad to be watching when it happened 😅
no idea how this got in my recommended but great video
the return of the king
22:50 get it? Because cut paper, haha…. (sigh)
Ok I don't want to break all the crazy storytelling and stuff but there's a reason the US can win so consistently (and why they will continue to be a dominant force) that may not be obvious to people who don't play in tournaments so I thought I might explain.
Basically, the US as a country have a lot of players. And by a lot I mean, out of all players ranked 100k or less a whole 1/5th of them are from the US. This also stays true at every rank, so 1/5th of the top 1000 players are from the US. The US have an almost limitless pool of talented players to choose from and actually, you'll notice that they are one of the teams with the highest turnover replacing almost their entire roster every year to bring in fresh, sometimes even inexperienced talents (and still win anyway).
Now comes the issue of scaling. In osu! tournaments, mappools get progressively harder as you enter later stages of the tournament. But OWC is a little special in this regard because the earlier rounds are very easy (compared to open rank tournament standards) while the late stages have a more classical scale (with occasionally GF TB being super hard). Easier pools let people who are all-round consistency demons but don't scale too well shine - basically our goat CutPaper.
These two components come together in a way that massively favors the US. As the rounds progress, all teams (yes, even SK) start to experience 4th player syndrome where on any given map they might only have 2 or 3 players that are comfortable enough. Currently, the US are the only country with a deep enough playerbase that they can find 4 players with the necessary scaling on any skillset. This is why Canada can clobber them in Quarterfinals but would 100% lose in Grand Finals, this is also why they start to barely lose any points from Finals onwards. Even SK bringing them to TB feels like it happened only thanks to a once-in-a-lifetime performance from Forum.
So how do you defeat the US? There are 2 options : either another country manages to get 8 world class players with infinite scaling together, or smaller countries get so good at consistency that they upset the US and make them drown in early rounds. Idk, both seem pretty fucking hard.
ytf did i get chills
good video!!
My favorite part about this match is that the tiebreaker is literally called Vanitas. The US winning was predicted from the moment that song was named.
babe wake up, new n3rdiness video just dropped
Hes back
This video is insane
