They just don't make music like this anymore, im grateful that works such as this offer a window to the past .
Has there ever been such a melodic and just inchanting saxophonist as Paul Desmond
Hmm ... I wonder why the piano looks like it has been rescued from a dumpster...
Brubeck came from a small town south of Sacramento, CA. He wrote a jazz mass "To Hope," and performed it in the cathedral in Sacramento. I had the great pleasure of singing in the chorus with him and his son's quartet at that time. It was a fabulous experience to sing with a master and in the cathedral as well. The sound of music in a cathedral is very special. This was many years ago now, but an experience I'll never forget! Judith
Eugene Wright and Joe Morello may have been the steadiest rhythm section of 50s and 60s jazz.
The accounting department at 5PM:
How many classical composers does Brubeck reference in his impovs during this concert? Absolutely brilliant.
According to the banners of this event that I researched online, this concert took place on Oct. 2nd, 1964, about a week before their famous Belgian T.V appearance.
Life happens. Jazz helps. This CERTAINLY helps!
Brubeck's piano solo in Koto song is hauntingly beautyful, every time I hear it my heart melts down
Desmond is a hypnotist.
TAKE FIVE is my all time favorite ! Never get tired of listening to that most wonderful composition !
It's almost as if Paul Desmond were improvising on the level of a Bach composition. If I didn't hear it I'd never believe it. Sublime!
My brother brought home Time Further Out when I was nine. That was 1963. I’ve loved their music ever since
Saw him at blue note in NYC...1994 just fantastic
Absolutely DAVE is an all time forever never to be forgotten Piano Jazz Aficionado ! A God given Gift here on Earth to entertain us with his unique style & warmth !
THE GOOD OLD DAYS LIVE FOREVER!!!!
Masterful improvisations from each band member. One of my favorite jazz bands of all time. Thanks for posting this work of art. ❤
Thank you. This is gold!
