Someone may have already commented on this and I missed it, but the 'Heroes of the Horn' are basically the Pattern (or Wheel's) greatest heroes. So they are not past lives of Mat, Mat just happens to be one of them. When the Horn is blown it summons them to the cause of the Light. In Mat's case, because he is already alive, he is reminded of who he was in past lives. Each of the heroes has lived multiple lives, and they inevitably fight together in some form or fashion against the Dark One every time.
Not according to this show's own inconsistencies. She said she'd kill her sul'dam, something she wouldn't have been able to do without great suffering, just an episode or so ago. At least that's how the books treated it but here we are.
I don’t think they portrayed that at all cause nyneave didn’t look to be in pain.. but you’re right they did say in the show that would be painful. Wish they they gave the show time to really show that with nyneave cause the actress definitely could have pulled that off well

Nynaeve is the new Mat. We have to wait to season 3 for Nyneave’s moment. This is why we loved the books. These characters are FLAWED. But they grow. There is hope for us too when we are stupid and weak.
And them finding out their true potential and finally taking control of their talents is even more rewarding and satisfying to witness as we saw them grow and develop as their own selves.
I don't think "who are you" is a silly question for Rand, because the last two beautiful women that offered to help him were Dana the Darkfriend and Lanfear. I'd be suspicious too :p

The flying saucer on the Aiel's belt is a buckler, which is a small shield. Instead of hiding behind it you use it to knock away and deflect swords and other weapons coming at you.

As a big Wheel of Time nerd I have watched a lot of show reactions but you guys + one lady are among the best. You are witty in your comments, I love how you give out names thought I do worry that you might have started too strong with Brother Book & Sister Strong Jaw and struggle to maintain your form on that front. Best of all you each pick up on different things and are often very insightful on noticing small details that book readers know to look for but show readers don't. Best of all you don't always agree with each other and hearing you debate among yourselves and being passionate about your views but respectful of the other's opinions is really enjoyable. One think I do wonder at is Carianna view about Rand & Egwene. My impression is (my apologies if I'm wrong) is that she thinks Rand is doing the dirty on Egwene by showing interest in Elaine. While they were in a relationship at the start of season 1 Egwene pretty much broke it off by saying she wanted to be a wisdon and the implicaions being that Wisdom's don't marry. I get that during the stress of nearly dying a few times they may have hooked up again but I don't think either of them were commmitting to a long term relationship. Yes they still have feelings for each other as evidenced by Egwene trying to learn so hard because she felt she wasn't strong enough to save Rand at the Eye of the World and Rand knowingly walking into a trap to try and help her but I would not say they are boyfriend/girlfriend and both would be perfectly free to hook up with others. I have to disagree with the voice of reason, Adison, the way they shot Rand looking at Elaine was very much someone seeing an angel coming to save him and desperate to get her number. PS. I absolutely adore Carianna's go to move being to want to blow things/people up when upset or faced with unpleasantness. Long may it continue.

Hopper. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! MAT blow the horn. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! Most people can’t handle animals dying. I cried every time Hopper died. Every time I read the books, and the six times I have seen that part of this episode.
I think Rand used the same "knife" weave he learned last episode to help Moiraine, but now he used it against Turak and the Seanchan. Maybe a throwback to Season 1, where Mat and Perrin talked about a knife being a tool before it is a weapon?
I think for Moraine is harder than for anyone to treat Lan like that. But she‘s also the only one willing to sacrifice anything or anyone for Rand‘s destiny (starting with her). Like she understands what‘s at stake. Also I never thought on something romantic between them… I always thought that the bond is very intimate but as a deep friendship.
Moiraine & Lan always read to me as soldiers in a squad of 2, basically. "Us against the world", and then they slowly start opening up their trust to encompass others, to varying degrees, under various circumstances. Not saying that soldiers can't also form romantic relationships, but in this case it's the platonic sort of "Ride or Die"

I agree with Cariana on most things, but I don’t agree about Brother Book not caring about Egwane. Inktar has been the one saying, ‘let’s get the horn and go.’ Brother Book has been the one saying, ‘No, we have to get Egwane too.’
This season has been about not giving up on the people you love-even when they've given up on themselves, completely lost all hope, and seem determined to throw away everything good in their lives. We all have people in our lives who do messed up things to us as well as to themselves, due to pain and depression and human fallibility. Love gets us through those obstacles, and drives us to try and try again to be worthy of one another. This is a recurring theme in the series-perhaps its central theme, even. It's been lovely seeing your videos this season, hope to see y'all again in s3 :)
I am convinced the "wood chip juice" was just something to make him go to sleep, so Ishamael could use the world of dreams to show him really bad things to turn him to his side. As we see Mat's real past is a hero of the horn, so the entire sequence with the wood chip juice was BS.
I'm looking forward to Carianna becoming a book reader, I think she'll probably like Nynaeve a lot more at least. Maybe not Mat though, at least not until she's a few books in lol
May becomes awesome starting mid way through the third book. And the show has basically already gotten him to that point, so we should all expect that version going forward.
The thing is all of them have their flaws and everyone has their favorites. I loved Nynaeve almost from book 2 on. I came around on Mat in the last 3 books. I really didn't care for him most of the time in the books. Others love Mat. Rand was boring to me for much of the series. But some people loved Rand. I have been disappointed with Nynaeve the past couple of episodes. But she was killing it in the middle of the season.
I really enjoy watching y’all’s reactions to this series. It’s my favorite book series and it’s so great to be able to experience it anew by watching the show. I love that y’all are enjoying it so much and getting so many more people interested in it. It’s like a dream come true. I hope you do read book 2. I would definitely avoid book 3 because there are some elements from that book that will likely make it into the show and potentially spoil it for you. Oh, and Carianna..my husband saw the same thing you did when Rand was looking up at Elaine. He said he was looking at her like she was the only woman for him lol!! 😂
This was sooo much fun to watch! Im reading the books for the first time because season 1 didn't answer my questions fast enough. Now I'm on book 10 and I cannot wait to see how the show progresses. I couldn't picture the proclamation in the sky or how the heros of the horn fight so it's interesting to see it all on screen. The show is so different but soooo good! Im ready for S3 like yesterday!!!! Carianna is gonna be in for a wild ride 😜😜😜
I rate it 9.999 out of 10. It was good, but personally felt it was a tad tad bit rushed, but maybe due to budget and time constraint, this episode had to be that way. Last episode they went through so much to show that her will was broken. I think it would have been better character growth progression for her to instead be rescued and the pain and fear she went through to be a point of vulnerable humility that she would have to work through. By escaping herself and already gaining a superior mindset and overcoming her captivity issues, there is little option for more upward character growth without breaking her down again. According to the books she is suppose to grow into becoming an imposing person, but by already building her to the point of showing that she can already face down one of the forsaken seem to be much too fast of a progression.
I love watching y'all. I suggest taking another look at that Mat with the Horn scene. He says, "I'm one of you." and the other Hero says "we've fought by your side time beyond measure." so they're less his past selves and more heroic souls tied to the horn, of which Mat has just realized /remembered, he is as well.
In case you were wondering what Matt was saying after the heroes of the horn appeared, he was speaking in the old tongue. It means "It's time to toss the dice" which was his catchprhase throughout the books.

But I thought there'd be another video with some expanded thoughts from Carianna (hope your midterms went well!) And I gotta shout out our Hero of the Horn, Mat!! I forgot what channel or comment I heard it from, but the dagger is like a drug addiction. Made me so proud to see him resist, and then be a total badass in battle.
There should have been one added line so it was clear Moraine sacrificed ALL love in her life to PROTECT RAND and LAN. She pushed Lan away to SAVE HIS LIFE. Once she lost her power she knew she was going to die and would not be able to protect Lan with the power. Do not look at Moraine with eyes without pity. Rand would be dead now without her. I only felt like Lan and Moraine FINALLY used words and Lan pushing that made him a hero. Moraine is a hero long term. If Mat is a hero, Moraine is one too ….but for THIS episode I say the hero’s are Mat, Hopper, Elayne, and Inktar. Egwene and Perrin both committed cold blooded murder. I GET that and I would have done that too, but I can’t give them hero status. Just badass status.

Yeah, I think folks are forgetting that they complained in S1 that Rand was moping after "off to college" Egwene. Although Carianna's cinematography instincts were spot-on, wtf was with that framing lol
He’s just been clobbered by a wound that won’t heal and a major shield he doesn’t know how to defend against,and she healed him. Not surprised by the look, he might even think he’s in the next world.
The skipped Caemlyn arc where they were suppose to first meet in the book really makes this alternative love at first sight choice a bit cringe. In fact much of Elayne's motivations have been lacking since she had not yet developed her crush for the two-rivers boy that snuck into the palace.
@@nolan4339 Nah, this makes Elayne more realistic & relatable - she's motivated by her first true close friendship (Egwene, and to a lesser degree, Nynaeve). Her being boy-crazy for Rand despite being Daughter-Heir never made much sense at age 15-16, so it'd make absolutely *no sense* when they're all 19-20s.
Ishy cared because now he has to wait til next go around to find peace, he mentioned it to Padan Fain. He was close to turning his friends and leading him to the dark- very close. And Lannfear, because she has an unhealthy obsession with a married man (a thousand of years dead married man) and a 20 year old farm boy. She let her emotions guide her and destroy his carefully laid plans. So he made sure to unleash the other forsaken. Because where he failed, maybe-just maybe- one of them will succeed.

Brother Book has actually been arguing to save Egwene, Ingtar was the one who wanted to write her off as already gone and concentrate on the Horn.

What Addison said about the importance of Mats storyline in the finale for people who may also have had a difficult time growing up was really moving.

Hopper. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! MAT blow the horn. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! Most people can’t handle animals dying. I cried every time Hopper died. Every time I read the books, and the six times I have seen that part of this episode.
I think Rand used the same "knife" weave he learned last episode to help Moiraine, but now he used it against Turak and the Seanchan. Maybe a throwback to Season 1, where Mat and Perrin talked about a knife being a tool before it is a weapon?
I think for Moraine is harder than for anyone to treat Lan like that. But she‘s also the only one willing to sacrifice anything or anyone for Rand‘s destiny (starting with her). Like she understands what‘s at stake. Also I never thought on something romantic between them… I always thought that the bond is very intimate but as a deep friendship.
Moiraine & Lan always read to me as soldiers in a squad of 2, basically. "Us against the world", and then they slowly start opening up their trust to encompass others, to varying degrees, under various circumstances. Not saying that soldiers can't also form romantic relationships, but in this case it's the platonic sort of "Ride or Die"
yeah, I see Moraine and Lan as twins. Like a Luke and Leia type of vibe. Deeper than friendship but not romantic at all.

I agree with Cariana on most things, but I don’t agree about Brother Book not caring about Egwane. Inktar has been the one saying, ‘let’s get the horn and go.’ Brother Book has been the one saying, ‘No, we have to get Egwane too.’
This season has been about not giving up on the people you love-even when they've given up on themselves, completely lost all hope, and seem determined to throw away everything good in their lives. We all have people in our lives who do messed up things to us as well as to themselves, due to pain and depression and human fallibility. Love gets us through those obstacles, and drives us to try and try again to be worthy of one another. This is a recurring theme in the series-perhaps its central theme, even. It's been lovely seeing your videos this season, hope to see y'all again in s3 :)

I am convinced the "wood chip juice" was just something to make him go to sleep, so Ishamael could use the world of dreams to show him really bad things to turn him to his side. As we see Mat's real past is a hero of the horn, so the entire sequence with the wood chip juice was BS.

I love the little production additions with music and imagery. So much fun to watch you guys watch these.
I'm looking forward to Carianna becoming a book reader, I think she'll probably like Nynaeve a lot more at least. Maybe not Mat though, at least not until she's a few books in lol
May becomes awesome starting mid way through the third book. And the show has basically already gotten him to that point, so we should all expect that version going forward.
I gotta say. I like Nyneave in the show way more than in the books.
The thing is all of them have their flaws and everyone has their favorites. I loved Nynaeve almost from book 2 on. I came around on Mat in the last 3 books. I really didn't care for him most of the time in the books. Others love Mat. Rand was boring to me for much of the series. But some people loved Rand. I have been disappointed with Nynaeve the past couple of episodes. But she was killing it in the middle of the season.
I'd like to see a post-book reaction. Join us in the rage. XD Egwene's arc is really great in the books but this show won't do it any justice, sadly.

I really enjoy watching y’all’s reactions to this series. It’s my favorite book series and it’s so great to be able to experience it anew by watching the show. I love that y’all are enjoying it so much and getting so many more people interested in it. It’s like a dream come true. I hope you do read book 2. I would definitely avoid book 3 because there are some elements from that book that will likely make it into the show and potentially spoil it for you. Oh, and Carianna..my husband saw the same thing you did when Rand was looking up at Elaine. He said he was looking at her like she was the only woman for him lol!! 😂

Im reading the books for the first time because season 1 didn't answer my questions fast enough. Now I'm on book 10 and I cannot wait to see how the show progresses. I couldn't picture the proclamation in the sky or how the heros of the horn fight so it's interesting to see it all on screen.

I rate it 9.999 out of 10. It was good, but personally felt it was a tad tad bit rushed, but maybe due to budget and time constraint, this episode had to be that way. Even in Season One, we know Egwene bides her time and learns from everything.
Last episode they went through so much to show that her will was broken. I think it would have been better character growth progression for her to instead be rescued and the pain and fear she went through to be a point of vulnerable humility that she would have to work through. By escaping herself and already gaining a superior mindset and overcoming her captivity issues, there is little option for more upward character growth without breaking her down again. According to the books she is suppose to grow into becoming an imposing person, but by already building her to the point of showing that she can already face down one of the forsaken seem to be much too fast of a progression.
So I think that Min saw Mat killing Rand. I think, with the wound and the heron brand, he isn’t really Rand anymore. He has become The Dragon.
I love watching y'all. I suggest taking another look at that Mat with the Horn scene. He says, "I'm one of you." and the other Hero says "we've fought by your side time beyond measure." so they're less his past selves and more heroic souls tied to the horn, of which Mat has just realized /remembered, he is as well.
In case you were wondering what Matt was saying after the heroes of the horn appeared, he was speaking in the old tongue. It means "It's time to toss the dice" which was his catchprhase throughout the books.

I'm so glad Mat got his moment this episode, and I think the way the show is handling him compared to [redacted] is really interesting
There should have been one added line so it was clear Moraine sacrificed ALL love in her life to PROTECT RAND and LAN. She pushed Lan away to SAVE HIS LIFE. Once she lost her power she knew she was going to die and would not be able to protect Lan with the power. Do not look at Moraine with eyes without pity. Rand would be dead now without her. I only felt like Lan and Moraine FINALLY used words and Lan pushing that made him a hero. Moraine is a hero long term. If Mat is a hero, Moraine is one too ….but for THIS episode I say the hero’s are Mat, Hopper, Elayne, and Inktar. Egwene and Perrin both committed cold blooded murder. I GET that and I would have done that too, but I can’t give them hero status. Just badass status.
You need to have a certain level of class to appreciate this series/world. Much love

Exactly. Their relationship is incredibly intimate, which doesn't inherently mean romantic. Something pretty rare in media and one of the many reasons I love WoT.
Addison, I truly am sorry for your loss. I just didn't know about Andre. I watched you guys when you first reacted to the season one episode one. And i was hooked. But i haven't followed you since jan 2022. And i just can't believe he is no longer with us. This is heartbreaking.

Matt and the other heroes are people who are always those heroes when they reincarnate so they are separate people but all always return as heroes.

Yeah, I think folks are forgetting that they complained in S1 that Rand was moping after "off to college" Egwene. Although Carianna's cinematography instincts were spot-on, wtf was with that framing lol
He’s just been clobbered by a wound that won’t heal and a major shield he doesn’t know how to defend against,and she healed him. Not surprised by the look, he might even think he’s in the next world.
The skipped Caemlyn arc where they were suppose to first meet in the book really makes this alternative love at first sight choice a bit cringe. In fact much of Elayne's motivations have been lacking since she had not yet developed her crush for the two-rivers boy that snuck into the palace.
@@nolan4339 Nah, this makes Elayne more realistic & relatable - she's motivated by her first true close friendship (Egwene, and to a lesser degree, Nynaeve). Her being boy-crazy for Rand despite being Daughter-Heir never made much sense at age 15-16, so it'd make absolutely *no sense* when they're all 19-20s.

Ishy cared because now he has to wait til next go around to find peace, he mentioned it to Padan Fain. He was close to turning his friends and leading him to the dark- very close. And Lannfear, because she has an unhealthy obsession with a married man (a thousand of years dead married man) and a 20 year old farm boy. She let her emotions guide her and destroy his carefully laid plans. So he made sure to unleash the other forsaken. Because where he failed, maybe-just maybe- one of them will succeed.
