Eerie Orange Smoke Darkens Skies Over San Francisco Bay. Shot in Oakland and Alameda Naval Base.

On September 9th 2020, the San Francisco Bay area woke up to dark skies filled with an orange glow. This was the result of dense smoke from the many wild fires to the North drifting over the Bay Area and beyond. As the day went on, the skies became darker. At midday, it felt like mid evening. Street lamps turned on and motorists had to use their headlights. I have never seen it this bad. As many commented, it was apocalyptic!
I drove around Oakland, the old Navy base at Alameda, and the Port of Oakland. The Navy base had an eerie atmosphere and looked as if it was straight out of a horror movie. The USS Hornet and other ships looked like ghosts in the night. Yet, it was midday... and people went on with their daily business.
