French Canadian
Do you read French books?
I started this channel to read more in English but I will read the French Classics in French!
Where are your shelves from?
IKEA - Billy
"Someone's staring at me outside" sounds like another creepy book rec😂😂😂
She's extremely hot that's why !!
If you want a creepy book I definitely recommend "Shutter Island" by Dennis Lehane. It's a great psychological thriller about two policemen who try to investigate a missing persons case on an island for the criminally insane, except things start to happen and... will have to leave it at that! Such a trippy read, but if you're not up to the book then you can always watch the movie, it has Leonardo DiCaprio in it and is also very good.
I've seen the movie but haven't read the book yet!
Shutter Island makes a lot of must read lists. Think I’ll go get it now.
wow i did not know there was a book
The movie kinda doesnt really make sense when compared to the book
I just finished The Troop by Nick Cutter. Very creepy and not what I expected. I read The Library at Mount Char based on your recommendation and really enjoyed it. Great vid, Emily!
The troop is already on my TBR! I'm waiting to find it used somewhere :D
The Library at Mount Char is such a tough sale but a lot of people end up liking it!
I always thought I couldn't start a book tube while in law school but you inspired me and I just did!!! Thanks girl love your videos
I'd recommend The Butterfly Garden! I just read it recently and loved it :)
Well that looks creepy *adds to ridiculous TBR*
Yesss that book is so creepy and sick and I loved it!
that book is amazing!
I definitely recommend The Witch's Daughter and the sequel, The Return of the Witch both by Paula Brackston! Same with A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness. As you can tell, I love witch books...lol. Recently I read Frankenstein, The Magicians, and Stalking Jack the Ripper which are all fantastic books to read during the fall time.
I've been binging your videos and apart from the fact that I enjoy them immensely, I just gotta tell you that you were the best lip shades!
Thank you! I have a beauty channel (beauty with emily fox) so it helps :)
The movie It is soooo worth it! I am TERRIFIED of clowns. like, I have anxiety attacks thinking about them. and I loved the movie. can not wait until Chapter Two! I also got the audio book. and some of the language and words make me so uncomfortable. but I’ll eventually finish it.
I never watched the first movie so I never understood why people were scared of clowns lol Maybe it will change now!
I didn't find it scary, but enjoyable and intricate
Stephen King definitely has an issue ending his novels. The only book of his that I have felt satisfied with is "Needful Things." It is very much in the vein of classic Twilight Zone. Definitely creepy and riveting with the perfect ending.
Thanks for the recommendation I'll try to get my hands on it!! :D
Oh yeah Needful Things may be my favorite book written by Stephen King, I DEVOURED it even if... Stephen King’s books don’t really scare me or creep me out so I was kinda rooting for the bad guy. The last one hundred pages were just really funny to me and I know this isn’t the classic thing you should expect from a horror book but, like I said, I’ve never read something that made me feel anxious or scared so that’s probably a personal problem. But I agree the ending was really good.
I'm reading the Long Walk right now and I really, really like it. Thank you for recommending it! The other day I was so tired after work, having to stand/walk all day, but I reminded myself of the book and thought 'pff, I'm not tired at all! I got to sit for about an hour and a half' lol The Running Man is next to be read. Xx
It's an exhausting book to read haha
Because of you Emily my reading list keeps on getting longer and longer, but I have to say that I love your books recommendation. I wish all the books you talk about in your videos were translated in Italian. I usually read before bed and if I read in English my brain doesn’t shut down and relax as if I was reading in Italian. But it doesn’t matter cause I love your videos and an untranslated book will not stop me from reading 😂🙈😘
Pet Sematary by Stephen King. Super terrifying and creepy. Highly recommend.
I am going to buy it this Thursday
I completely agree with you about The Library at Mount Char. I read a library e-book of it and, immediately after finishing, I went out and bought myself a copy. It was bizarre and a little disturbing but written in such a way that I was constantly compelled to keep reading. Would also recommend this book.
Yes, I definitely recommend the movie IT. Also that scene, you know the scene, doesn't exist so the ending isn't ruined.
I really don't think anyone would have liked the movie if that scene had been included lol
The Long Walk sounds awesome! I’ll pick that one up
I love your taste in books so much. About 90% of the books you have talked about are in my want to read list. I am definitely subscribing.
I'm actually reading IT but I have the cover from the new movie. The movie was incredible by the way. Creepy but not too scary, bit of gore and just beautifully shot.
MandyYDG I'm reading IT too but from the original movie😀
I found some great books on amazon that have some really great reviews.
Which one should I pick to read first?
The Chalk Man by C.J Tutor
The Woman in the Window by A.J Finn
StillHouse Lake by Rachel Caine
liner on fleek
I went to IT with my dad and we really enjoyed it!!! Great movie, you should definitely watch it!
I loved The Kind Worth Killing, and Birdbox. Loved these recs, glad I found your channel!
I started Bird Box but never ended up finishing it.... definitely need to pick it back up!
I loved the part when it's happening but not so much the present!
Just came across your video today and am so glad that I did. I've read only one of the books you mentioned and now have a few new ones to add to my #TBR pile--yay! Thanks and loved your segment. Looking forward to more of them.
Stumbled over an old copy of the Matheson one a while back - I think it was the basis for The Omega Man also
Hi Emily, i just found your channel and subscribed. Love your recommendations. One I highly recommend is Head Full of Ghosts by Paul Tremblay.
I love your lipstick! Where did you get it? I think I might try and read library of mount char at some point. Not sure though. I attempted to earlier this year and it was strange.
Abibliophobe27 check out Emily's other channel BeautybyEmilyFox, she has the BEST lip swatch videos!!!
You've got a new subscriber here! Thank you for these recommendations❤❤
Emily! I love all of your videos from both channels. Love from Paraguay ❤️✨ stay cool!
YEEEEEES I've been waiting for this video weeks ago!!! :DDDD
Nice lipstick, which one is it?
Mac Sin :)
Great recommendations thank you!! I've added them to my wishlist 😁🤗
Mount Char was GREAT!!
I recommend After Dark by Haruki Murakami and The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman.
A Bird Box sounds good!
I really liked Stpehen Kings' The Talisman and The Dark Tower series. I plan on reading "You" tonight. Thanks for the book recommendations! You are one of my favorite book tubers.
"This is one of the weirdest books I've ever read."
- *massive tick, adds to TBR list* -
"I feel like [...] that doesn't sound appealing."
Yes, Emily. Yes, IT DOES.
+Michelle S Good haha it's such a hard book to describe 😂
I have picked up The Long Walk for Spookathon because of your wrap up video, really intrigued by it! Also really great recommendations, definitely will be picking majority up!
I hope you like it!!
The way you described The Long Walk gave me It Follows vibes for some reason so I'm definitely going to check that book out.
I don't think it's similar but I'm still traumatized by that movie lol
I don't think was "good" per se but seeing it alone a night was a really bad idea haha
I’d recommend reading the Escape from Furnace book series, because it’s my favorite horror book series due to how it’s the first horror book series I read and how it always sends chills up my spine as well as the unique perspective the author gives on the juvenile prison system
I love your styling today!! Super pretty and very fitting with October :)
Favorite season for fashion/makeup!
Hi Emily!! I loveee your recommendations... Have added so many from to my reading list.
Love from India 🤗🤗
omg, Bird Box was an awesome read!! I forgot all about it, but I'm going to go back and read it again
You might also check out Beneath the Devil's Bow.
I've read all these apart from the library one and I agree, all great reads. 👌🏻
I’m reading The Kind Worth Killing right now based on a couple other book recommendation videos I watched. So far so good!
The long walk sounds so good
I wish I could get into Stephen King, but I just can't get on with him 😐
Same, I think he's overrated.
read monkey shines or pet cemetery those two r great king books
You should definitely watch IT, Emily! I loved it so much. It surprised me how much I enjoyed it because I'm generally not a horror fan. But if you liked the book, you'll love the movie imo. 🎈👍🏻
The running man was actually adapted into a movie I think in early 90s late 80s with Arnold Schwarzenegger and the movie is completely different from the book but fun to watch check it out if you haven't already
Read the Original source material The Ring novel
You’re baaaaaackkk! ❤️
All of these books sounds awesome! They would definitely give me nightmares!
You're absolutely beautiful! Plus great book choices.!
I finally read The Library at Mount Char and I agree it was so weird, but I really enjoyed it. Also loved Bird Box and It, but I wasn’t a fan of You though.
I love your outfit and the lip color!! 💙💙
It's that time of the year again and I'm living for it!! :D
I would be interested in knowing your favorite authors and books that were written in French originally. (I am learning it in school:))
Watch the movie IT omg you’ll love it!!!!! It so good
If you're looking for good thrillers, I would recommend you the books by the german author Sebastian Fitzek. But I'm not sure if they're all available in English and/or French. (Or if the translations are any good) But he wrote some really creepy books and they really go deep into the psyche of people, so ... I enjoy them especially in the fall months. Thanks for your recommendations (I always have a Goodreads Tab open while watching your videos and afterwards my "want to read"-list has grown).
I read a couple of good books lately one is called madness burns by stevie kopas it's a series of short horror stories and was very good. My last read which I finished 2 weeks ago was an ebook I downloaded called the undesirable encounter by toby torrance. This one is a full length novel based in the English countryside. It's one of the freakiest stories I read in my life.
I haven’t read the running man but by the way you describe it it kinda gives me vibes of the movie called “13 sins”
yes I am always on the hunt for good french books and have a hard time finding ones i like. the most recent one i read and liked was 'la vie devant soi' by romain gary
This is YA but have you read "Stalking Jack The Ripper" ? I've heard a lot of good things about the book and plan to read it sometime this month
I haven't read it but I've seen it going around!
Thanks for the recommendations 😊🖤
I wanted to read It, but then I saw how BIG this book was and I got a bit discouraged by it, but maybe I'll give it a try !
You recommend better than Watchmojo
I read You as well. In a day. and rushed to Barnes and Noble for the second part.... but haven’t finished it.
I didn't read the second one! I think I'm satisfied with the first one... enough creepiness for me :P
BookswithEmilyFox Im only 11 chapters in. but it wasn’t too much. he’s still looking to... kill and fall in love again... but eh. didn’t really grab my attention as much
yall should read Mr be gone.
Hi Emily!! Read "The truth about the Harry Quebert affair", some of my fave booktubers loved it and I think you will enjoy it! :D
I forgot to mention that it is originally written in french, so maybe you can read it in french!
Hello there! Do you review authors from small presses?
Have you read Vassa in the Night? It weird but good.
You're cool Emily! There's some strange book "NIGHTBLOOM" I've read a small piece of it on russian. But i'm almost sure there is an original on english or at least a translation. Don't know who's the author. Strange, it's a first time when i couldn't find book i looking for. Can anyone help?!
I really like your accent
If you're looking for a weird/creepy/strange horror book you should try House of leaves, holy shit that book is weird
i actually just got it havent started but it does look creepy lols
The movie IT is awesome! I think you'll like it.
I read You so fast it was ridiculous lol but struggling to finish Hidden Bodies, I don't feel it was necessary to even have that second one 🤷🏽♀️
I'm glad I didn't pick up the next one lol
The Running Man... I think that was made into an 80s movie. Check it out!
+Vanessa N It wouldn't surprise me as it read like a movie!
perfect foundation! which one do you use?
Lancome Teint Idole! It's the best :D
Really fancy her every fear now ☺️
It i've read it 18 yrs ago when i was 17. I will read it again tho. Bird Box was good. Running man was ok, The Long walk is overrated and every chapter it's the same thing.
2POINTS ,1 AMAZING BOOKS, 2 AMAZING TEETH
Watch the original it
Ugh bird box was soooo good but I found the ending such a let down
I'm so happy you posted my favorite type of video today! Will you be participating in the Spookathon??
+Abby I No but I'll probably do my own 24h readathon soon!
What is a triller?
I thought the new It movie was hilarious but I'm scared of clowns and it wasn't the least bit scary. He sounded too much like Scooby-Doo lol
I tried to read I Am Legend years ago but gave up after he spent 5 pages cooking pork chops 😋
I have I am Legend by Richard Matheson (haven't read it yet but really want to) and had no idea it was a movie. That seems to a happen a lot, get or hear of a book, then later hear it had a movie lol. IT! .< Same with You...I sense a pattern here. Lol so many books I have but haven't read yet...I need to fix that, I love creepy/scary/thriller books!
Seems like you're set for the fall!
I Am Legend is still on my top 10 horror list. Read the book first. It’s short and scary and lovely. Perfect Halloween fiction.
I will definitely read it before I watch it! It sounds like a great scary read! Which while perfect for Halloween I just love scary books all the time anyway ^_^
Every time I think about I Am Legend I get crazy, I can't get over it, why in hell did they keep the title in the movie if they completely removed its meaning!? It drives me nuts 😂
Right? The book is much darker but the ending was awesome!
Look at that Sin
😮♥️😉
The new movie of IT was amazing keep in mind im 14 i went with a group of friends but to me the movie was more funny than anything like i didn't get scared at all. I usually get scared during movies but shockling just the movie didnt scare me but it is well worth to watch it was just so great and i cant wait to watch it again.
Hey guys, maybe someone wants to help me... I am not really a fan of really creepy books, but I love reading cutsie romances around this time of year, like NA college setting, ideally set in fall/winter ish...
Any recommendations?
JaseStackhouse Let it Snow by John Green 😋😊
😁
The Running Man was made in to a movie in the 80's.
I'm not surprised!
Rain? I wish, here is 30°C lol
Lucky lol it was 10C today :(
I loved the movie (it), but it wasn’t really that creepy and I hateee clowns. It’s more funny than scary, but I still loved it.
Movie is definitely worth the watch.. go see it please
I will before Halloween for sure!
💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
I actually hated the movie It, it was so boring and I didn't like any of the characters at all, though I just don't think I like movies/series that follow a group of middle graders since I never liked Stranger Things either. It's seems to be only me and my friends whom think It is one of the worst movies ever.
Oooh I need to read Bird Box, sounds really intriguing. I just got Her Every Fear from the library, sounds like it's going to be good.
Love how Stephen King-y your channel is becoming lol
I went from hating the first book I read from him to actually liking some!
Extra creepy that people were creeping on you while you filmed your creepy recommendations...
