If possible you want to be at a 45° angle not directly over the item and 6 to 12" depends on a number of things how the item looked like after test patch its sometimes faster to move closer also depends on the nosel loads of factors the operator can work this out within the test patch
I spent 15 years at the end of a blast hose. I’ve blasting everything from small furniture to 2000MW Steam turbines.
Watching this video honestly makes me question if y’all actually know what you’re doing. That guy doing the blasting had to be a brand new guy to be doing it the way he was. Just a few things I noticed that are completely wrong with your demonstration.
1. Lack of an air dryer or water separator. There’s nothing worse for a blaster than dealing with wet media.
2. You saying that having a 10-15 ft whip hose. Everyone knows that 25’ is the standard. If you go lower that 20’ then things get really interesting really quick with hose control and maneuverability.
3. You don’t have another man at the pot. Yes I know your blast we has a deadman on his hose. But you should always have a second guy at the pot to turn things off in case there is an emergency.
4. Your guy is standing directly over the things he’s blast and pointing straight into the ground. Yes the pieces are on a pallet but there is still dirt and rocks under them that will be flying up into his face. Visibility get real bad real quick not the mention your shield getting frosted, or the risk of a large rock flying up and puncturing the shield or hitting them I a unprotected area.
5. Stop using Apallo helmets. It’s NOVA or nothing.
6. If you’re going getting 20-30 minutes of runtime out of a pot then you’re really doing it wrong. It goes back to the dry air system. A Clemco 3cf pot can run a media such as 180 aluminum oxide for about 2-3 hours per pot.
I could and should go on but I’m gonna leave it at that.
I’d like to pick your brain! Seem like a wealth of knowledge! Just picked up a used 6cf clemco pot and gonna start some side work and see where it goes! How can I get ahold of ya?

I'm a trades assistant at a welding and construction company and they've just set me up to start blasting, we have an RPB nova 2000 helmet run through a filter off the electric workshop compressor, my question is should we be using a co2 monitor?

Electric compressors do not make carbon monoxide as do my diesel compressors. So you have nothing to worry about.
