Where do all these ppl do their private business? Does the community provide Port-a-Potty services? That is the only problem that I can think of when it comes to camps whether that be rural or urban. Some tent cities w/in a city have become cesspools... total disgrace. No dignity is found amongst addicts - the walking dead.
It’s a misconception to assume everyone on the street is an addict; this is far from the truth. Lots of folks on the street oppose the use of substances. There are so many folks living in homeless camps that despise the trash and filth, so they do a lot to keep their’s and other’s areas clean. There are locations with portable toilets and many individuals use them and work together as a community to help keep these resources open and useable. There are areas that have succumbed to the abundance of human waste; however, to say this is every homeless camp is a vast over generalization. It is up to us to bestow dignity upon those who cannot do it for themselves; the way we address and interact with our homeless neighbors changes the narrative and helps bring them to a place where they can begin to see there own worth.
