  • This is the set up we use. Others use single hooks, we might switch down to that too. We use bigger mackerel normally but this was what we got for this trip.

I use a cocktail stick and push it through the eye of the first hook I to the bait .It stop s the hook from folding against the body of the bait

I dropped 3 runs in a row and I'm convinced that night I was doing something wrong, I did notice the hook could turn so that's a good suggestion to try thanks.

Hi Darren keen to get explore this more. I use a drone to fish so can take out very large baits and wondered where the best marks might be ? Had planned to head to Cromer in 2 weeks to try my luck.

I’ve not heard of Tope coming out at Cromer. I have heard of the occasional small one around trimmingham Mundesley way May or June time. In another month or so the Smoothhounds will be along this way.

@@darrenbetts2987 understood. But this would be a bit heavy for the smoothies I guess? I've had smoothies at kessingland before on live crab but hoping to catch something a bit bigger 😜

Can I just ask, why are your wire loops at the crimp so large, I'm not being cheeky, I've been wondering if my were too tight and stopping the correct freedom you want the hook to have such as if we pulled it right tight it would bind onto the hook making it a bit too stiff loosing hook ups. I hope you understand what what I mean. I started off doing really well with tope from the shore and the next few years got worse lol, I'm not sure if I wasn't letting them run too long, not enough or if my traces has slowly changed over time which I have done with other rigs. It's kinda like ruining a good formula. Tight lines guys

The Rhins Ranger partly its the thickness of the wire but also they’re not just a loop through the hook. It’s actually kind of a knot in the wire which is left a little loose so the hook can indeed move a bit.

@@darrenbetts2987 yes I knott my wire too but not too tight

not being rude but why ask someone to show us how he ties a rig if your just gona say "thats not how i do it". why didnt you film yourself tie the rig as you would use it?
