    I grew up in London (Ontario) for most of my life, and while I have some great memories & friends there, it's NOT what it used to be and has been going down hill over the last 20 years. In 2016 I moved to Burlington and I have to say this is one of the nicest cities I've ever lived in. I absolutely love it and plan on living the remainder of my life out here. It might not be perfect, it does have it's own issues, (and it's definitely more expensive) but of all the cities I've lived in, I feel most comfortable and safe here.
    I love going down to Spencer Smith Park during the summer. It might get busy on the weekends, but it's lively, people are just happy, and you could easily take your family and have a good time.
    I don't want to live anywhere else!

    The new Brampton. This comment was made to me by a former Bramptonian who left Brampton due to immigration. He sees the same outcome for Burlington. This is why many from the GTA have moved out of the area. Burlington used to be a wonderful choice as opposed to Toronto/Mississauga but now no more. GTA plus Hamilton appears as one large city. She mentions the beach/boardwalk. Yeah, just try to find parking.

  • @danzigwascool
    @danzigwascool Před 4 měsíci +3

    There is no culture downtown (Brant St) and everything has been pushed out to the non-pedestrian friendly Plains Road. Also, no one dares talks about it but the crime is insane and hardcore ie. human trafficking, murder, shootings, mafia spill over from Hamilton/Toronto, etc etc. Don't be fooled, invest in security systems as it's only going to get worse with wage disparity and lack of jobs.

      I lived there from 1998 - 2009. I moved back to burlington a few years ago, and couldn't be happier. Some of the stores are changed since then (I miss blockbuster/zellers), and there are houses/stores where there used to be just feilds, but it's still the burlington I remember for sure.

    Yes it does have its issues like bad drivers, i have been involved in a pretty bad accident on my bike and luckily survived, but all in all this is the best city in Ontario, sadly crime has increased here like break ins and armed robbery but its better than toronto and hamilton.

  • @thejoneslounge
    @thejoneslounge Před 2 měsíci

    I think an update on this video would be a good idea. I live near Burloak and it takes me 20 mins to get to the RBG… and that is going along Lakeshore. There are loads of transit buses that run often and the go train is never busy… I’ve never had to stand going in or out of Burlington to Toronto… even during rush hour. Our 4 bed house cost half of what was stated in the video.

    burlington sucks for every one because they didn't invest in public transport and make it safe for bike commute, so every one have to drive even for small distances, and that make congestion when every one drives a car. they keep ignoring public transport or bike commute just to let the NIMYBs get what they want, and not even highways are congested in almost all hours

    Been in Burlington 25+ years and over 20 of them have been downtown in the core area. Burlington was once a beautiful sleepy town with when I first moved here. But with the unchecked condo growth and overpopulation making it difficult to get around and it as lost that flair it once had. Now home to shootings, homelessness, drugs and violence what was once unheard of in the community of Burlington is commonplace.

      I work with nonprofits in the area and you really are taking a few isolated incidents and making a sweeping generalization.
      Maybe if more people volunteered (Which is one of our community’s biggest strengths) they’d be more balanced in their views.
      Burlington is not a hotbed for criminal activity, it’s actually less than any other community of our size in the GTA. I’m sorry that you find change threatening to your way of life and sense of safety, but I’m loving the diversity happening here and meeting new people who’ve become asset’s to our community.

      Depends on what you're looking for. Burlington is a beautiful, clean and very safe, but it's expensive. Same with Oakville. The closer you are to the GTA, the more you're connected to a more active hub of life (being connected to Toronto with the Go system). The smaller cities around Southern Ontario might be a little (somewhat) more affordable, but each have their own set of issues and in some cases feel a little isolated.

    • @BastedwithMustard
      @BastedwithMustard Před 2 lety

      @@leadnsteel1428 the amount of gross buildings being thrown up is horrible but ya its hard because of all these dbag companies that sue the city of burlington in provincial court when they’re denied building permits.. then not only are they allowed to build, they can build it twice as high. Definitely has its problems but its still a good city. But I still don’t see the parallels between Toronto & Burlington that you do. Ya prices are high and ya more buildings but its certainly not an expanding metropolis also prices are noticeably steeper in Toronto like its always been even if burlington is pricier than ever. I’m mainly talking to the people who trash burlington for things that u could say about any city like the classic “There’s nothing to do here” line among others that got popular with my generation. Idk im 26 and people my age hate burlington since they were in highschool and i just dont get it is all. It’s almost as if they’ve never ever experienced life outside of Burlington. Idk Maybe its my heritage & family history that I appreciate living in a nice city or something. I’ve lived in cities where there LITERALLY was nothing to do and burlington is not that lol.

    If you like sitting in traffic, move here! You can't leave. Weekend traffic is HORRIBLE. Niagara one way, Toronto the other, TRAFFIC!!! Burlington used to be a beautiful, affordable, safe community with fresh food grown locally. Things have changed. This no longer exists. If you like the constant noisy, non- stop Humm of traffic, move between the 401 and 407. Waterfront? Overcrowded and over rated. Hydro massive hydro towers follow the beach.
